Chapter 1
While I was steering the yacht, my husband's lover barged in and started messing with the controls, causing the yacht to go completely out of control.
She was so scared she started crying.
I calmly took over and managed to avoid a disaster.
But my husband thought I was the one driving recklessly and scaring his lover, so he tied me to the back of the yacht as punishment.
I pleaded with him, begging him to let me go, reminding him of the baby I was carrying.
But he wouldn't listen or believe me.
The yacht sped across the water, dragging me behind it, thrashing me around.
Eventually, I drowned and hit the rocks, leading to my death.
He only started crying and sobbing over my cold, lifeless body afterward.
——
"Mr. Johnson, should we pull your wife back onto the boat?"
The secretary hesitantly asked Liam Johnson.
"What are you worried about?"
Liam took off his sunglasses, glanced coldly at the secretary, and sneered. "Rachel Brown is just my lapdog. Trying to please her won't get you anywhere."
"You've misunderstood, sir. I'm just worried she might die. After all, she's been dragged behind the boat for three hours."
The secretary's mouth twitched, and sweat began to drip down his tense forehead.
"What? It's been three hours already? That fast? Well, Rachel grew up by the sea, so she should be fine."
Liam was startled at first, but then he waved it off indifferently.
What he didn't know was that while being dragged, I was tossed around so much I couldn't breathe and even smashed into some rocks.
My blood dyed the water red, attracting sharks that devoured me.
At this moment, my soul had already left my body, standing right in front of him.
The secretary tried to persuade him again, and just as Liam started to waver, his lover Fiona Smith came out from the cabin.
"Fiona, you're awake? Are you hungry?"
As soon as Liam saw Fiona, his eyes lit up, and he immediately forgot all about me.
"Liam, I want a banana."
Fiona stretched and showed off her perfect figure as she walked towards Liam. When she was almost in front of him, she suddenly let out a surprised cry and pretended to stumble.
She fell right into Liam's arms.
Liam was stunned at first, but then he smiled, clearly enjoying the moment. "Careful, Fiona, take it slow."
He was sitting there, probably feeling pretty good about himself.
Fiona lifted her head, her beautiful face blushing. With a sultry look, she said, "Good thing you are here, or I would've hurt myself.
"By the way, where's Rachel? She didn't mean to cause trouble. You should pull her back up."
Look at her, acting so fake—she clearly wanted me dead but was pretending to be a nice person.
It made me sick.
"Fiona, you're just too kind, which is why you always get taken advantage of."
Liam gazed at her lovingly, slicing up an apple and feeding it to her before continuing. "Rachel is so manipulative. While being punished, she lied and told me she was pregnant, even going as far as to fake a medical report.
"It's obvious she's been plotting this for a while, trying to hurt you on purpose. But here you are, still speaking up for her."
Fiona just smiled shyly, never once intending to tell him the truth.
I was so angry my soul started trembling, like I was about to disappear completely.
"We are supposed to be husband and wife! Why are you siding with an outsider? Is she really that important to you?"
I wasn't lying.
I really was pregnant. But since explaining was useless, to protect the baby, I had no choice but to beg Liam.
But he ignored me, saying, "If you both die, then you both die. You've only got yourself to blame for being so wicked," and then ordered my hands to be tied and fastened to the back of the yacht.
Actually, I had a slim chance of survival.
At first, the rope wasn't tied tightly, but Liam, being paranoid, had them add another knot and even hooked my clothes to the boat.
That sealed my fate.
When the yacht started moving, Liam carried Fiona in his arms and headed back to the cabin.
He didn't even look back.
He was completely heartless.
At that moment, all hope died within me, and I struggled uselessly in the water, waiting to meet my end.
Once again, the secretary spoke up, "Mr. Johnson, shouldn't we pull your wife back onto the boat?"
Chapter 2
"Stop the boat. Go ask her if she's learned her lesson and knows what she did wrong. If she admits her mistake, pull her back on board."
Liam replied coldly.
The assistant hurried to carry out the order.
With no one around, Liam glanced at Fiona beside him, suddenly unable to control his desire, and leaned closer.
Fiona lightly licked her lips and leaned in too, but the next second, she deliberately pushed Liam away and seriously said, "Liam, we can't do this. It would be disrespectful to Rachel.
"I don't want you to be called a cheater."
This was her usual tactic.
I'd seen it too many times—playing hard to get to make him more interested. Actually, Liam was just one of her men.
But Liam believed he was the only one, so he hurriedly pledged his loyalty to Fiona. "Fiona, you're so considerate. You're going to make me cry.
"Don't worry. As soon as we sort out the assets, I'll divorce Rachel. Then we can be together openly."
He puffed out his chest and made a firm promise.
I let out a bitter laugh, recalling the promises Liam made to me when we got engaged.
"Rachel. I swear, I'll love you forever. May we walk hand in hand through every winter and spring, from youth to old age."
Back then, Liam was so affectionate and sincere.
I believed him completely.
Little did I know it was all lies. Once Fiona re-entered Liam's life, everything changed.
The vows that once sounded so sweet now seem like mockery of how things turned out.
"Liam, divorce is a big decision. You shouldn't act impulsively—you need to think it through."
Fiona appeared to be advising him, but deep down, her eyes were full of smugness and amusement.
Ever since Fiona found out I married Liam, she'd been targeting me and provoking me constantly.
She knew I was allergic to mango, yet she purposely gave me a cake with mango in it, pretending she didn't know.
I ended up in the hospital with an allergic reaction.
Afterwards, she tearfully apologized to Liam, but instead of getting blamed, she got a Hermès bag as compensation.
When she found out Liam had bought me a perfume, she nagged him into buying her ten bottles. Then she posted on social media, openly thanking "Rachel's husband."
Or like today, even though I was the captain in charge of steering the boat, she insisted on playing around with it.
I refused, so she called Liam and had me scolded.
In the end, I had no choice but to agree.
She nearly caused a disaster, recklessly operating the boat until it was almost out of control.
When she had no solution, her face turned pale, she was drenched in sweat, and she collapsed on the ground, nearly wetting herself.
I managed to avert the danger with great effort, but I couldn't hold back my anger and shouted at her, "Get out of here!"
Unfortunately, Liam arrived just in time to hear it.
Fiona immediately threw herself into Liam's arms, crying like a helpless kitten, seeking comfort.
Without saying a word, Liam assumed I had scared her by driving recklessly and shoved me hard to the ground.
"Rachel! You've gone too far!
"Fiona was just curious, wanting to play around a little. She didn't do anything wrong, so why are you scaring her and losing your temper? Don't you know Fiona has a heart condition?"
I tried to explain what had really happened.
But Liam wouldn't listen and even slapped me, continuing to curse at me.
"Don't think I don't know what you're up to. Rachel, you're so vicious!
"I'll make sure you learn your lesson today.
"Tie Rachel to the back of the boat and drag her!"
His eyes were wide open like he wanted to tear me apart.
Seeing that explaining was useless, I could only beg. "Liam, you don't have to believe me, but please think about our child, okay?"
To prove I wasn't lying, I shakily took out my pregnancy report from the hospital.
But Liam ripped it to shreds, calling me a liar.
From beginning to end, Fiona didn't say a word to help me.
Instead, she kept smirking, enjoying the show.
"Mr... Mr. Johnson... we've pulled her up..."
Just as Liam and Fiona were feeding each other fruit, the assistant returned, pale-faced, followed by two bodyguards holding a blanket.
I assumed it was my broken body in that blanket.
Chapter 3
"So, did she admit her mistake?"
Liam chuckled, then suddenly looked up in surprise, asking, "Where's Rachel? How dare she throw a tantrum and not come back? She should stay in the water for another six hours."
Hearing this, I felt a deep sense of sadness. It was clear Liam didn't care whether I lived or died. Even if he knew I was dead, he probably wouldn't feel a shred of guilt...
I regretted everything.
Love at first sight? It was all just lust!
Love me until the end? Nonsense!
When I accepted Liam's relentless pursuit, which led to our eventual marriage, I found out he had just been rejected by Fiona for the 99th time.
But by then, I had already fallen in love with Liam and believed that the past was the past—no need to dwell on it.
The only point of conflict between us was that Liam wanted me to quit my job, stay home, and have a baby, while I still wanted to work and fulfill my dream of traveling the world's oceans before I retired.
So, we argued multiple times, but in the end, I chose to compromise.
Just when things were at a critical moment, Fiona returned to the country, invited Liam to dinner, and openly criticized me for not appreciating the "great man" that Liam was.
As a result, Liam's heart began to waver again, and he grew closer and closer to Fiona, even enjoying seeing me jealous and upset.
I actually suggested divorce at one point.
But Liam wouldn't agree, so he just kept torturing me emotionally like this.
"Mr. Johnson, your wife is right here."
The secretary wiped the cold sweat off his forehead and glanced at the blanket.
"Huh? What do you mean?"
Liam froze in confusion.
"Could it be that Rachel's asleep? She's so carefree, huh?"
Fiona sarcastically joked in a snide tone.
Liam's face darkened immediately. He stormed over to the blanket, shouting angrily, "Rachel, stop pretending to be dead and get up!"
"It's not like that, Mr. Johnson, please listen to me..."
The secretary tried to intervene, but Liam shoved him aside.
"Get out of here! I'll handle my wife. I don't need an outsider meddling!"
Liam yanked the blanket off with a rough pull.
The next second, my broken body was exposed to everyone.
