Chapter 1
Raven POV
Finally. I exhaled. Senior year was here. In two days technically.
Today was public service day. A long lasting ritual in Everfrost University. A day where the senior year students would engage in public services in different parts of campus.
The faculty hallway raked with students. Boys. Girls. Bustling up and down with wide grins on their faces.
I inhaled. Taking in the familiar air of Everfrost's hallway. Everfrost wasn't just any university. It was the most prestigious and luxurious one in Frostfang pack. And second most rated one in the entire continent, topped only by Blue-Ridge University. Everyone wanted to school here. Well not everyone entirely-I only came here because of a stupid crush.
"I'm so happy to be back," my best friend, Lyra beamed, tiptoeing gently beside me. "Senior years definitely going to be a banger."
"Ofcourse it would," I said. My voice carrying my deep excitement of being back to school. "You just came back from a month of sex filled vacation." I teased.
Lyra chuckled. A sweet confirmation of what I just said. Lyra and her boyfriend Damian, had spent their entire holiday on a vacation. A sex oriented one at that. And I was sure of that because she would streak me pictures of her in either bikinis or straight up underwears. "How's Jett? How was the holiday for you two." Lyra asked.
Jett. The name nagged my stomach like I'd swallowed a hammer. "It was okay," I lied. Jett, my closest male friend, my secret alpha crush since I was fourteen. I'd been close to him seven years now. Ever since he lost his mother to cancer.
He'd cry on my shoulders for as long I could think of. Either when he missed his mom or when he was sad from a breakup. I'd be there for him. Play with him. Hike with him. Rumble with him.
Lyra's voice dragged me back to reality. "Are you sure it was okay? Rav,"
"Yes sure," I lied again.
It wasn't okay. Jett and I had texted last three weeks ago. He has either been out playing student president role, which he considered as preparation to him being the alpha of Frostfang Pack after his dad. Or busy with his dating shenanigans with one hot student in cheer team or the other.
And the worst part? He'd streak every moment of him with them. He didn't even consider my feelings. Hell he didn't even seem to notice if I had one.
I'd come to Everfrost just because of my crush for him. And since freshman year, he'd only been obsessing over one girl or the other. And this time around it was Sharon-the extravagant cheerleader.
What a wishful delusional fool I was.
Lyra coughed. Dragging me back from my thoughts once again. "You know...you winning Journalist of the year award end of junior year, one would think your lying skill would have improved.." "But nope, it just got worse."
"Don't tell me people do train to lie."
"Nope no sane person does," Lyra chuckled. "But what you my friend did not do was tell Jett about your crush on him." She said. Staring at me with those I'm-I-lying? eyes.
"Nope I didn't." My voice sounded raw under the frustration tugging inside my stomach.
I wanted to tell Jett. To open up to him. Tell him how I've been crushing on him ever since we met for the first day. But i knew he wasn't ready for something committed. And I wasn't interested in being one of his come and go flings.
So I didn't.
"You know what?" Lyra said. Her hands placed on her jaw. A posture she'd take whenever she was about to come up with something absolutely ridiculous to do. "You're going to meet with Jett today, and you're going to tell him everything."
"Hell No." I yelled.
My voice causing a few close students to drag their gazes to Lyra and I for some brief seconds. But I didn't care.
I wasn't going to throw myself to guy who I bet didn't even noticed if we hadn't texted in three weeks. That would make me desperate.
Lyra rolled her eye. "Well, you do want you want Rav." She blurted, her voice laced with the disappointment. Not the bad disappointment. The type of disappointment you get when the only person you want to see have a love affair in her life can't open up to a guy. "Just get yourself a lover, babe."
I smiled with a little nod. Lyra was fun one between us. And by fun, I mean full steamy kind of fun. The kind of fun that she'd hit a one night stand with a total stranger just to spite her boyfriend.
"See ya later," I say to her. While we did our special fist bump shake. "I have to go do my share of public service."
"Text me when you're done." She said, heading off.
I turned. Slamming my earpiece to my ear. Fingers hovering around my favorite spotify playlist. I clicked on of my favorites, Ordinary by Alex Warren. Pushing the slightly ajar door with my legs.
The air inside the male athletes dressing room was clean. A proof that no one's been here for a long time.
I shouldn't even be here. But that's what you get when you come late for public service day. Every other places and chores were already taken. And I was left with cleaning the male athletes dressing room.
But the on the positive side. It wasn't resumption yet. So boys weren't swamped in here.
I picked up the mop and bucket. Sliding open the one of the bathroom curtains.
And that's when I saw it.
Him. Naked. Completely. Muscular.
The hot shower glided through his back. The steam evaporating off him like thunder would at thor. Fuck he is smoking hot. I could already feel the heat crawling up my body.
My eyes ran through him in sync with the water dripping down his body. His was tall. Six ft, three athletic type of tall. His legs where trained, built. The kind of built you'd get if you'd hit the gym three hours everyday for the past God knows how long.
His ass. Fuck-I never believed I'd hear myself say such-was beautiful. Sexy. Soft.
My gaze tailored upward. His back was covered in fine tattoo that extended to his shoulders. I've never seen such detailed and clean tattoo on a guy. Most of the dudes at Everfrost had rough tattoos that'd turn you off instantly. But his was different.
I stared a little longer. Allowing my eyes to take in the details of the tattoo. And it did.
Something about the design of the two naked ladies clinging around a guy he had drawn at his back sent warmth between my thighs.
Fuck. Who the fuck was this?
I let go of the mop in my hand unintentionally.
He turned. Swiftly. And my jaw followed. Dropping to the floor.
My vision seemed to blur. Leaving only one part of him clear.
His dick. Dangling.
I swallowed. It was long. Big. Fuck. It was carved intricately like sculpture. Veins warped around it. Pulsing.
I squeezed my legs. My panties felt damp. Geez, I was already wet.
I looked up. Trying to distract myself from what I just saw.
But his face didn't make the case better. Sharp jawline and high cheekbones that'd make you think he was young Henry Cavill.
His mouth moved. Mumbling something I couldn't hear over the earpiece in my ear.
And that was when it all settled in. My expression fading from surprise to shock immediately I recognized him.
Chapter 2
Raven POV
This can't be true.
He was familiar. Like real real familiar. Jett type of familiar.
Jett. The name feeling like a slap in the face.
He looked unrealistically like Jett. My Jett. My Alpha Crush. But it couldn't be him. Something was off.
Jett had a descent french crop hairstyle and not a jet-black curly-wavy mullet hairstyle. Nor did Jett have stormy-blue eyes.
He stood there. Unfazed. "Let me know when you're done entertaining yourself," he said. And I could hear him now because I'd already shoved down my earpiece.
I snapped. Letting go of the bucket in my hand and dashed out of the dressing room. Still not In believe of what I just saw.
I try to say something, but the only word that came out was, "Lyra," loudly, and luckily for me she was just at the doorway.
"What's wrong Rav?" she asked, her voice laced with concern.
"You wouldn't believe what I just saw." I panted. Hands grabbing her shoulder as I tried to breathe.
"C'mon Rav, I watch horror movies for fun... What's wrong?"
I took a deep breath in and started, telling her everything I just saw. Every details of it.
"Uhmmm..." she dragged. "Rav....I don't think the mysteriously handsome Jett-looking guy you just saw is actually Jett," she motioned behind me with her eyes.
I turned, startled by the unfamiliar voice wrapped in a towel now.
"I'm Jace... Jace Grimviel." he said, his expression still unfazed, like this whole thing didn't move him. "What's your name?"
I panicked. Still unable to wrap my head around it all... "Uhmm... I'm... Sorry." I mumbled.
Every head in the hallway faced was at us now. Phones up. Cameras lit. And shutter sounds going up. Girls screaming a combination of "Wow" "Jace Grimviel" "OMGs."
I couldn't stand it. I wasn't a paparazzi type of girl so I did the only thing that came to my head.
Run.
And I did. Avoiding anything that seemed to look like Jett or Jace with his hawk sized dick for the rest of the day.
~~~
The rest of the days flew by. And I tried distracting myself from everything. The Everfrost campus blog notifications. Instagram post beeps. But I couldn't.
It was all viral now. I was going viral. Pictures of me looking dazed at the towel Jace had strapped around him circulating in every Everfrost related account. Threads about how awesome Jace looked popping up with thousands of likes and comments.
I hated every bit of it. Not the attention entirely, I was a Journalism major. But the kind of attention it brought. My Insta account had grown from five thousand followers-comprising majorly those who were into journalism I'd been posting on my insta and some of my friends from highschool-to thirteen thousand followers over a day and half.
And I was now known as the 'Jace towel girl'.
But something still felt off. Everfrost was a big university. So how could a picture of me and a random guy in towel be trending this much. And why did they all know his name.
Sitted in our sofa at home. Trying to solve the puzzle in my head. I picked up my phone and went straight to Google.
J-A-C-E... G-R-I-M-V-I-E-L
I type on the search bar and clicked.
Various search results popped up. And I clicked the first. One from a www.atheletes.com.
For a second I fixated at the hugely decorated biography that looked less like one for a university student and more of a Nobel prize winning scientist.
Below his name, read:
"Hockey Player"
"Summit Ice Conference Cup Winner - Freshman Year."
"Elite Collegiate Hockey Union Cup Winner - Sophomore Year."
"Frontier Hockey Conference Cup Winner - Junior Year." And others.
My lips twitched and I smiled a little. He wasn't just devilishly handsome. He was a hockey player. A badass one at that.
I clicked on the insta icon on the website. And I got redirected to his insta account.
Holy Fuck. I almost screamed. At the sight of his two point four million followers. His insta bio read: Hockey Alpha.
I hadn't just saw a naked hockey player. But popular one at that.
For minutes, I kept on strolling through his accounts. Clicking through pictures and videos of him.
My phone pinged. And the taste metal in hitted my tongue. Fuck I'd be biting my lips for a while now.
I swiped down. To see what the notification was. It wasn't another blog or insta post. It was a text from Lyra.
Lyra: "OMG Rav, you're blowing up on insta"
I smiled. Feeling like I could hear her scream from the text. She was a social media freak and she was good at it.
"Yeah, I saw it... Sad it was because of a total stranger." I texted back.
Lyra: "Wdym stranger? That's Jace Grimviel for God's sake." her text came in immediately.
"I know... Saw his insta account" I replied.
Lyra: "No you don't... Rav"
I scoffed, Lyra had a way of obsessing over things. But this time it felt different. Like she was obsessing over it for a good reason.
"Nvm.. but why does he look soo like Jett?" I text back after a few seconds.
Her text doesn't come in immediately. But I stare at the three dots bubbling. She was typing.
Lyra: "Oh you slowhead... That's Jace Grimviel.. Grimvielllllll... Jett Grimviel's fucking twin brother, Rav."
I chocked of air. My chest tingling. This can't be. Jett has a brother? A twin brother?
I'd be close friends with Jett for seven years now, how could he not have mentioned having a brother not to talk of a twin to me.
That's why he looks just like Jett. That's why his name sounded familiar.
My body tensed with anger. The realization that I'd just be deceiving myself thinking Jett took our friendship as important as I did felt like a punch to the stomach.
I'd be by his side since he was fifteen. Been there through his lows and highs. Been there through his breakups. Been there thinking he'd one day look at me. See that I love him. And what do I get? Nothing, than just being his shoulder to cry on.
I scrambled to reply, but I couldn't. Every part of was raging. Anger sprawling up my spine.
I hated myself for thinking Jett and I could have worked, but what I hated more, was how my body could be easily turned on by his twin-his naked twin.
Chapter 3
Raven POV
The admin building swamped with senior year students the next day. All staring at Dean James as he addressed the crowd. He'd always do that the very first day of every year. And this year was no exception.
I stare at my phone. The time was 8:45 am. Fifteen minutes more to my first class. Which meant I had extra ten minutes to go get a textbook from the library before heading straight to class.
I raised my head. My eyes wandering about. Taking in the environment. Realizing how much I've missed this place. I know, I'm a nerd and holidays weren't my thing.
My eyes wanders to the far left. And that's when I saw him. Jace. Blue joggers and what seemed to be a hockey team's hoody. Leaning at a bike with a smirk that screamed I'm-god's-gift-to-the-world.
I try to look away but I couldn't. Which girl in the world could look away from this kind of beauty. He face was down. Focused on his phone that I'd fear if he even heard anything the dean had been saying at all.
He looks up and I quickly turn. I can't have him seeing me staring at him. Can't have him thinking I'm just one of those sorority girls on campus, that'd do anything to bone him.
Minutes later the dean dismisses the crowd and I strode to the faculty building. Making my way from the hallway to the library. The time was now 8:51 am.
Nine minutes more.
"Ethics in Journalism," I said to the smiling young lady. "I was told it's now available."
She nodded, a smile glued to her face as she went inside to get it. But before she could make her way back someone was already at my back.
"She'll be back in giffy... she just went Inside now." I try to reassure the person behind me.
"Who?" a familiar voice blurted. "I'm here to see you."
I turned. Startled at the last sentence. And there he was.
Jace.
Leaning at the desk. His facial expression indecipherable. His eyes studying every inch of me while his muscular frame casted a shadow over me that made me feel like my height had just reduced.
"You know it's one thing to see a guy's nakedness, but to avoid him after that without even telling him your name just makes it kinda weird."
Now, I'm a pacifist. I don't believe in using fists to solve your problems, I think organized fighting is barbaric, and the idea of war makes me queasy.
But the front desk lady's reaction to what Jace just said as she looked at me like a 'want-to-be slut', made me want to punch Jace right to the face.
But I didn't. Not when I know some dudes in Everfrost didn't subscribe to the don't-touch-a-lady ideology. And you wouldn't want to make the mistake of hitting the wrong dude.
So I did the next thing that came to mind. I dragged him. By his ears. Heading straight out of the library while I snatched the textbook from the table.
"Auch..." "Auch..." "Auch..." he screamed.
"Why the fuck did you have to say that?" I raged, but my tone was less harsh than I intended.
"I had to get your attention one way or the other."
"And that's how you chose to get it?" my tone still betraying me. I wanted to be pissed. Hell I should be pissed. But I couldn't. Not when I'm staring directly to a more handsome version of my seven years crush. Not with my head bringing back the sight of him naked everytime I look at him.
"It worked, didn't it." he straightened. "What did you expect when you ran away without even telling me your name."
He was right. The least I could do was give him that courtesy. "I'm sorry about that. I'm Ra-"
"Raven Hayes.." he cuts me off. "Yeah I know."
I rolled my eyes. "And how did you know?"
"Got a notification that a Raven Hayes liked a post of mine."
"That's bullshit, you have millions of followers, you must be getting lots of notification of people liking your posts, you can't be going through everyone on them."
"Of course I have lots of those pings," The edge of his lips curved. "But only stalkers tend to like more than a dozen of your posts all at once." A smile lasting barely two seconds before slipping back to his unreadable expression.
I bit my tongue. I knew I shouldn't have liked those posts, but I couldn't stop myself from admiring them. The way he exhumed a calm dominance in each of them.
"For your information I'm not a stalker." I protest, but the grin on his face tells me that wasn't going to cut it. "Its only right that I try to find out about who the new guy in school that was making me trend for the wrong reasons was, isn't it?"
"Alright cool..." he leaned beside the wall, letting his broad-shoulder expand and I hated how his muscles stretching made my body react. "I'm Jace, and from your reaction the last time I gathered you already know my brother Jett," his tone changing slightly at the word 'Jett'.
"So you're... An alpha too?" I asked, trying to figure how the twin stuff worked.
"I have the blood of an alpha running through my veins, if that's what you mean." he said. "But unlike my brother I don't care about packs and that kind of leadership."
"And you're cool with that?"
"If it let's me play hockey, get uncountable number of sex and make a lots of money alongside.... Hell yeah." he grinned and I almost chucked at his sarcasm. "Think of me as the wrong alpha."
But he wasn't being sarcastic. Hockey players in Everfrost had tons of girls who their last wish would be to die in bed with them.
"So why'd you transfer to Everfrost if you had it all," I asked, a knowledge I'd found out from endlessly scrolling through his Insta.
"The N.I.C."
"What's that?" I questioned and he gave me the ofcourse-she's-a-nerd scoff. And he wasn't wrong. I knew nothing about hockey, apart from how violent it could get sometimes, which i never understood why one would put himself in such harm's way just to skate on ice and hit puds.
"Northen Ice Championship... It's a hockey tournament. And I thought it would be cool leading Everfrost's hockey team to championship," he stated, the confidence in his voice spiking. "And as for having it all, we don't have girl's who'd just want a sneak peek of a guys cock and not want it all, back in Blue-Ridge"
I frown. His bluntness getting a better part of me.
"That was unplanned and a regrettable mistake." I hissed. "And I'm not that type of girl."
He stares at me for a second like he could see right through me. "Unplanned? Yes... Mistake? Sure... But definitely not regrettable." he totally ignored the last part I said. "I saw the way you drooled over me, and I bet some part of you still thinks about it."
Jesus Harold Christ. How could he be so blunt, annoying and still right. I pinch the edge of my dress, forcing my expression to remain neutral. Of course I couldnt go an hour without seeing his cock in my head. The thought of every steamy romance novel I'd read before flashing in head.
"You must think you're all that huh?"
"Reviews don't lie."
So now he has sex reviews too.. but before I could think of a reply my phone pings with a text. And I quickly look at it. It's Lyra, texting to tell me class is about to start.
"It's nice meeting you Jace, but I have to go now, my class is about to start."
He leaned in. Not too close. But close enough for his rich perfume to brush off me.
"How about a meetup sometime? Rav." his charming stormy-blue eyes fixed right into my mine. "I could use a show around campus." he must think every girl in Everfrost wouldn't blink if given the opportunity to play his escort for the day.
"Nah, I'm extremely busy... But I'm sure a dozen of the girls there would be dying to help you out." I extend my glare to the group of girls clustered at a corner and he grinned.
"Alright, you know where to find me when you're less busy." he said as i made my way to class.
