“I see. I wonder what kind of emergency meeting he got. It’s still so early and the staff not going to be there as early as that. Is he going to talk to himself or what?” She said and laughs.

“Can you not think negatively about Elijah? Who knows maybe he told all his staff to be there early. It is not possible right?” I look at Thea and I heard Thea mumbling something under her breath. “pardon?”

“Nothing! Let’s just keep eating. You make the best pancakes ever. I love you.”

"Thea, me and Elijah already married like two years, and we're just fine. We both happy with our life. Why can't you be happy for me? I'm your best friend. Don’t you want to see me happy?" She sighed and then look at me.

"I'm sorry Alexa. It's not like I don't want you to be happy. It just that I think he's not the one for you. I just know," I furrowed my eyebrows in confusion.

"What do you mean he's not the one for me and you know?" I ask her.

"Listen Alexa, all this time Elijah cheated on you behind your back. You’ve been staying at home and you don’t know what your ‘lovely’ husband do behind your back," I am surprised when she said that.

"Thea! Why are you talking about? Why would he cheated behind my back? He loves me and he told me that last night too. I trust him with all my heart that he is not sleeping with another woman beside me," My anger is rising right now.

"I know you won’t believe me when I said this but I'm not lying. I saw with my own eyes. Please believe me. He's not a good man. Last few days when I walk to the mall, I saw him and I'm very sure it's him in the car with a woman. I even open my eyes as big as I can to see clearly." I look at her disbelief. How can she say like that to my husband? Elijah? With another woman? Nonsense!

"This is all bullshit! I can't believe you, Thea. You're my one and only best friend that I have. How can you accuse my husband like that? Why can't you accept that I'm his WIFE! I didn't ask for anything Thea, I just ask for you to be happy for me. That's it! It's not that hard. Where’s the prove that he was with another woman in the car? Where?!" I burst into anger and she looks at me.

“I-I forgot to snap a picture but Alexa, I'm being serious. I swear to you that I'm not lying. I saw him and this is not the first time I saw him with another woman. I even saw him walk into the hotel with another woman too... I swear. Believe me please.” She holds my hands.

"I don't want to hear anything from you right now. I want you to get out of my house now." She really makes my anger boost. My mood already not that good because Elijah didn’t have a breakfast with me and now, this woman who I thought my best friend, accused my husband doing shitty things behind my back.

"OUT!!" I yelled.

"Fine. But I will prove it to you that everything that I’ve said was all true. That time, you’ll see and don’t worry, I will always stick with you after that," With that, she walks out and I heard the door being slammed so hard.

I close my eyes and sit on the chair. I put my head on the table.

Why my only best friend act like that? I can't believe this. How can she accused Elijah cheated on me? There's no way he could go out with another woman. He just tells me that he loves me last night.

That's the proof to show that he loves me. He won't do that to me and I think Thea was mis looked my husband with another guy. I believe Elijah. Even though my heart trying to believe what Thea had said, It is very hard to do so.

After Thea go home, I called Elijah and I smile when he answer it. “Hello Alexa, what’s wrong?” He asks.

“Elijah, do you hate me?” I ask directly.

“What’s the sudden question?”

“Just wondering because you were quite cold to me this morning and the fact that I cannot meet you for a few days, makes me uneasy. That’s why I decided to call you,” I said to him.

“I don’t hate you Alexa. Now, I have work to do. Can I call you later?”

“Sure. Take care, I love you,” I said.

“Love you too,” With that he hangs up the phone. I feel a bit relieved to hear it from him. So, everything Thea said is not true. She might take a wrong look someone who looks like my husband.

Just when I’m about to go sleep, I decided to go downstairs and drink some water first. I walk downstairs and this house feel so empty especially when I am alone in this house.

It is better to have children so that this house will feel more alive than now. I look around and think about doing some arrangement to the furniture since it’s been years since we actually change it.

It should be better to change because I got bored to see it just like that in the same position for so long. Even Elijah understand about it and he always agree with me. I walk to the refrigerator and open it to take a bottle of water.

I drink it and then after I’m all done, I walk back to my room but when I ‘m about to step on the stairs, I can hear the front door being unlock. My hear suddenly beating so fast. What if there is a thief?

I slowly walk to the door and ready to hit the thief if anything happen. When he door open, I saw Elijah who still in his suit as this morning and he look surprised to see me there with a vase in my hands.

“What are you doing?” He asks closing the door.

“I thought there was a thief trying to get into the house,” I said and out the vase back to it place. “I thought you said you’re going to London?” I ask and we walk to our bedroom together. I am happy that Elijah actually home tonight.

At least, I can cuddle with him tonight and not going to miss him that much.

“I’m going tomorrow. I just remember that I need a few clothes and some files from home,” He said and I just nod to show that I am listening to it. “Why are you still awake?”

“I’m about to sleep then I feel thirsty, so I went down to drink some water,” I explain and he seems not listening to me because he is busy with his phone now. I walk to him and try to give him a goodnight kiss.

“Just go to sleep, Alexa. I’m busy,” He said stopping me from doing it and he left the room and maybe go to his office.

I am left there and so confused. What’s wrong with just give me at least a peck of kiss before go to his office. It’s not take that much time. I thought. I decided to brush it off and off to sleep.

ALEXA

I'm pregnant.

The pregnancy test said it all. I'm pregnant. I can't believe this. I took it this morning and it's said that I'm pregnant. I took three times and three of them are positive.

Finally, Elijah and I will be parents. Oh my god! I can't wait to tell him when he comes back. I bet his reaction is priceless. We've been waiting for this moment and god finally gave us. Thank you for this huge gift.

My life feels more perfect now. We're finally will be parents! I smile and walk out of the bathroom and heading to bed. I take my phone to call Elijah because I want to ask when will he come home.

I really need to make preparation before he comes home. I press the call and wait for him to pick up. It's going to voicemail. I frown at it but I just keep calling.

Voicemail again.

Again...

And...

Again...

After four times I call him, finally, he picks it up. "What?" I smile when I hear his voice.

"Hey baby, I miss you so much. It's been one week since you go to London." I said.

"What do you want?" He asks and his voice seems like he's in a hurry.

"I just miss you, Elijah and I want to ask you when will you comeback?" I ask and my heart feels a bit hurt when he didn't ask if I'm okay or anything.

"Hmm okay. I don't know maybe next week or next month, don't wait for me. I don’t have plans to go back soon. Anyways, I need to go bye."

Before I could say anything he just hangs up on me. Maybe he's in a hurry for his meeting. I can't blame him because of it his work. He works hard for our family and I need to understand it. It’s ok Alexa.

I pat my stomach. "It's okay baby, I will find a way to tell your father. We’re so excited to meet you," I smile then suddenly I heard the doorbell.

I stand up and go downstairs to look at who it is. I open the door and it shows Thea standing there with a smile on her face.

"Hey, Alexa." She greets me. "Hi," I said feeling weird because it's been a week since our last talk and that didn’t go well at all. I almost delete her number because I am so mad at her.

"Didn't you want to invite me in?" I step aside to let her in. We walk to the living room and sit on the couch. "Well... I know you still mad at me. So I'm here to apologize. I know I shouldn't say to your husband like that. I'm sorry.." She looks at me with a regret face. I stand up from my seat and go sit beside her. “Alexa?”

"You know, I'm sorry too because I kicked you out just like that," I said and she pulls me for a hug.

I hug her back. I miss her so much, to be honest. I still have a bit of feeling angry towards her but I let it slide since I am alone now and Elijah don’t know when he will coming home.

"I am suffering because I can't talk to you for the one whole week. You know, you're my one and only best friend that I know." She said after we break apart the hug. I smile at her.

Maybe I should tell her about the news I just found out this morning. I cannot keep a secret too long from her.

"I have something to tell you." Of course, I would tell her. "What it is?" She asks.

"Okay... First of all, don't freak out when I tell you."

"Okay okay just hurry up." She looks so excited to know what I'm going to tell her. "Alexa! hurry up."

"Okay... I'm pregnant." She looks surprised then a big smile appears on her face.

"Arghhhh! Oh my god! I'm going to be an aunt. OMG! OMG!" I chuckle at her reaction. Looking at her reaction like this, I'm thinking about how Elijah's reaction will be.

"I told you not to freak out, girl"

"How can I not? You're pregnant!" I smile at her. “I am going to be a rich and cool aunt to your child,”

"By the way, when did you know that you're pregnant?"

"This morning." She hugs me and then smiles. "I'm so so so so so happy for you, Alexa. I really am." She said. Just then, her phone ring.

"Wait a second. I’ll be right back," She stands up and goes to the kitchen to take that call. Maybe that's important that's why she didn't want me to hear it. After a few minutes, she walks in with a smile on her face.

"Sorry. It took quite long.." She takes a seat beside me again.

"Nah it's fine. Who's that? Your boyfriend?" I tease her.

"Ew, I don't have any okay. Don't ever think like that, Oh yeah, Alexa let's go and have lunch at the hotel today." She said.

"What for? I mean we can just go out lunch at one of our favourite restaurants. Don't waste money too much Thea."

"Awe Alexa you’re no fun. We have to celebrate that you're pregnant. Let's go." She said and I raised my eyebrows.

"What? Why are you looking at me like that?" She adds. "Let's goooo. This is the time where you need to use your husband’s money just like any rich wife do,"

"Okay, okay, but first I will need to change my clothes." She nodded her head and I walk upstairs to change.

I pick baby blue jeans and a white shirt to pair it with my nude pink cardigan. For my hair, I just let it down. I comb my hair to make it neater. I put mascara and lipstick.

I don't like to wear my make up too much because I prefer to look more natural. I spray some perfume then take my handbag. I take my cream colour pump then I'm ready.

I go downstairs to see Thea already standing at the door. "Let's go." She opens the door and we walk to her car. We talk and laugh on the way there. Its feel so good to hang out with my best friend. After a moment later, we finally arrive at the hotel to have our lunch. This is so random.

"Alexa, why don't we just stay here for one or maybe two days?" She asks when we walk inside the hotel.

"It's so spontaneous Thea, we don't have any spare clothes," I said and she chuckles.

"Pleaseeee... I want to hang out with you. We can buy new clothes to wear or we can wear the same clothes for 24 hours. Come on, It's not like we never have done it before. Oh why not we go shopping first?" She said excitedly.

“You know I can't say no to you when you did that. Fine... but I’m starving. Let’s go eat and then we can go shopping. ” I said. She mumbles something under her breath and I couldn’t catch up anything at all.

ALEXA

“You said something?”

“Nope, I just humming some random happy song,”

“You sure?”

"Yes. Thank you for being here today!." She swung her arms around my neck makes me choked.

"Th-Thea let me go." She immediately let me go and I take a breath. "Opss sorry hehe." She grabs my arms to go to the receptionist.

"Hello, welcome miss." The people at the receptionist greeted us with a sweet smile. "Hello. I'm Thea Morris..." I just stay quiet and wait for her.

"Oh, Ms. Morris. It's room 368 on the 10th floor." The woman at the counter said. I look at Thea and raised my eyebrows.

"Thank you," Thea said to that woman and then lead me to the lift. "Woah you already booked the room for us?" I ask and she just smiles at me.

“I am well prepared,”

“Yeah right,” I playfully rolled my eyes at her.

"Alexa I'm sorry to ruin the mood of whatever you feeling right now but I need to do this." She said as we walk inside the lift.

"Why are you saying like that? Is there anything wrong?" I ask and she shakes her head.

"You’re my best friend and I want you to be happy. That's it. Just remember you will always be my woman no matter what," I just stay silent and wait until we arrived on the 10th floor.

Ding!

We walk side by side until we standing in front of the room that shows number 368. She gives me the card and I take it.

"Before you open it I just want to say that I did all this because I don't want you to live like this. I mean… yea you will know what I meant..."

It's getting so weird why would she say like that? My heart stomping so fast all of the sudden.

I swipe the card and then open the door. I walk inside and my eyes widen in shock. I can't believe what I saw right now.

My heart just broke in a million pieces. The shirtless Elijah and woman who seems like she's already naked beneath him. I look at Thea but she didn't look at me back and she just face the wall.

I don't know what to say this is so unbelievable. Is this some kind of joke?

"Elijah!" I found myself shouted his name. I can feel my eyes already blurry because of tears. He looks shocked at first then his face becomes blank. He stood up and standing in front of me. I look at that woman who covered herself with the blanket.

"I-I thought you were in London..." I asked with my slow voice.

"You already see me standing in front of you here. Yes, I lied to you," He said and his face doesn't show any guilty.

"Why? Why are you doing this to me?" I ask and now my tears already rolling down my cheeks.

"You want to know why? Because I don't love you anymore. I feel like this marriage was a huge mistake I've ever done in my life. I was thinking why would I have to be tied down so early when I still can enjoy myself with another woman." He said.

Then I slap him in his face. He looked shocked and then I can see the anger in his eyes. My heart hurt thousand more than his face.

"Living with you is such a mistake you know that? So, listen here very carefully, I want you to pack your things from that house and leave. Don't ever thinks of coming back because my lawyer will give you the divorce paper." He said and now I fell into silent and surprised from what he said.

"No... No.. You can't do this to me. I love you with all my heart, Elijah. Besides I'm pre-" He cut me off from finishing my sentence.

"I don't care with all your love whatsoever. Just get lost from my life because I want to be free and enjoy my life." He said and I can see that woman is smirking at me. Such a fucking whore!

"You! You're the one who makes my husband like this!! You bitch!" I really want to slap and pull that bitch hair but Elijah stop me.

"Alexa! You're not my wife anymore from now on. Now, You and your pathetic friend can get lost from my sight because I don't want to see your face anymore."

I look at him hoping all this are a nightmare but no, this is real and I slap him again. Never that I thought I could slap him like this.

“Um hello, Mr. Elijah Perkins the one that pathetic is you not me. At least, I don’t get caught red-handed having sex with a whore. I mean look at her, she look fucking ugly with that blond hair and those messy makeup? Just ew from me. Bitch when you thought you won, you’re wrong. You can take this scum bag and suck his dick forever we don’t care,” Thea said and it is so satisfying to hear.

“Just shut up Thea. This is not your fucking business. Stay out of it,”

“Oh yeah? What if I don’t want to? What do you want to do to me? Kill me? Put me in prison? Come on, a guy like you don’t terrify me at all. Let’s go Alexa. I think you’ve seen enough,” Thea takes my hand and before I walk out from the room, I stop and I look at Elijah.

"You're going to regret this Elijah. Sooner or later you'll regret this, I'm sure of that." I said to him. His face shows anger because I slapped him twice and the outburst from Thea.

Thea pull me out from that room and bring me home to pack my things. "Thea, why did he do this to me? I didn't do anything wrong to him. I love him, Thea." She hugs me. "I love him very much and now I'm pregnant with his child. What am I going to do now? How am I going to say to this innocent child? I can’t do this," I burst into tears.

"I'm so sorry, Alexa. I need to show you the true colour of your husband. I mean ex-husband from now. I don't want you to be like this."

"Please remember you still have your child with you and also you still have me. I'm your best friend. I won't leave you alone. Forget about him and build a new life. I’ll help you with whatever you need. This will take a quite some time but I know you can make it through it. " I wipe my tears and looks at her. As long as Thea is with me, I think I can do this.

When we arrive at home, I went straight to the room and pack my clothes. I didn't take all of it cause I don't want to take the clothes that Elijah bought for me.

I just take my clothes and left all the things that he bought me. In order for me to move on, I cannot bring or take anything even though I can. Just then the bell ring.

Thea walks downstairs to check who it is while I still packing my clothes.

"Alexa..." I turned around and see Thea with one man I guess that's the lawyer that Elijah talked about.
