Chapter 1
My ex-boyfriend, Jasper Ward, invited me to his wedding.
Jasper said, "I accepted your gift. But I didn't agree to be with you again."
Jasper and I had a fight. He wanted to break up. So I gave him a watch worth a million dollars. I begged him to come back.
He accepted the gift. The next day, others told me that he was getting married.
Jasper wanted to be the manager. Leonard Edward was the chairman of this company. So Jasper made great efforts to pursue Leonard's niece, Kathy Edward.
But Jasper didn't know that Leonard also had a daughter.
The position of a manager had been prepared for him a long time ago!
It was noon.
I stopped working. I opened the dialog box.
Jasper sent me a lot of messages.
I read them one by one. The latest one was a takeaway link. Jasper: [Darling, I love you so much. I want to eat steak for lunch today.]
[You want me to pay?]
[Zoe, I'm a little short of money recently.]
He had been saying this for almost two years. I was getting tired of it.
Jasper was very good to me. But he didn't want to spend money on me. He would let me pay for everything.
Every time Jasper and I quarreled about this, he would patiently explain,
"I want to save money to marry you!"
I sneered. I didn't say much.
I thought, "Don't fool with me. I know everything."
Jasper and I had been together for seven years.
We loved each other very much. Our classmates jokingly called us "the model couple".
We met in college. We got along very well. But Jasper mistakenly thought I had a boyfriend.
Later, after he knew I was single, he started pursuing me. I quickly agreed.
He was always wearing washed-out jeans. He spent his time on part-time jobs and studying.
One time, on Jasper’s birthday, I gave him a laptop.
The next day, he came to me. He wanted to return the gift to me. He said, "This is too expensive. My friend said it cost more than 10,000 dollars."
Jasper had beautiful eyes. I kissed his face.
"I will not take back the gift. You had to go to the library every time you wanted to look up information. It was too inconvenient."
Jasper hesitated for a long time. But finally he accepted it.
He worked very hard that semester. Later, he gave me a necklace of the same price.
Jasper said, "You deserve the best."
Chapter 2
I knew Jasper's family was not well-off. His younger brother and sister were still in school. He had a lot of pressure.
When he was pursuing me, he didn't know that my family was wealthy.
The brands of clothes I wore were very niche. Few people knew about them.
Later, Jasper's mother fell ill and went to the hospital. Jasper could not afford the money. He asked all the relatives for help but failed to raise enough money. I gave him 200,000 dollars.
Jasper felt very sad during that period. I questioned him for a long time. He said, "I feel that I am not worthy of you. Not only did I not give you a better life, but I also dragged you down."
I joked to him, "From now on, I will be responsible for making money. All you need to do is be happy."
Jasper finally smiled.
What I said back then was just a joke. I never expected it to come true.
When I got home from work, I opened the door.
I smelled a strong aroma of food. Jasper was cooking.
When he saw me come back, he asked me to sit down.
Jasper said, "Hurry up and wash your hands. The meal is ready."
After graduating from college, we joined the same company.
Although we were in the same company, we were in different positions. I was promoted faster. My salary was already several times that of Jasper.
Jasper's salary was only a few thousand dollars a month. It was not enough for him to live in this big city.
I sat down and took a few bites. Jasper spoke hesitantly,
"Zoe, this month..."
Before he could finish talking, I picked up my phone and transferred five thousand dollars to him. Afraid that it was not enough, I transferred another three thousand dollars.
He relaxed. He said, "That's not what I'm talking about. One of my college friends is getting married."
I subconsciously asked, "When? Do you want me to go with you?"
Chapter 3
That was Jasper’s college classmate. I wasn’t very familiar with him.
Jasper shook his head. He stood up to drink some water.
The moment he entered the kitchen, the phone across the table rang.
That was Jasper's phone.
I looked up when I heard the sound.
A message popped up on his Twitter. Kathy: [I like handsome and interesting people. How about you?]
Before I could take a closer look, Jasper had already come out of the kitchen.
I looked away. He obviously noticed that I saw the message. He kept glancing at me while drinking the water.
Seeing that there was nothing unusual about me, he glanced at his phone. He smiled.
I looked into his eyes and asked, "What's wrong?"
He shook his head. He took his phone to the bathroom. He replied, "Nothing. A colleague wanted to talk to me."
His subconscious action of hiding his phone was so eye-catching.
Jasper never avoided me when sending messages before. His phone password was also my birthday.
