Chapter 1

On the day before the wedding, my boyfriend went cycling to relax, but in the evening I saw his childhood sweetheart had updated a new post on Instagram.

"Day 165 of my cycling journey successfully completed! I was exhausted all day, so I'm going to relax tonight."

The photo showed a highly romantic room reflected in a mirror, and in the corner beside it, a man was taking off his clothes, revealing a wicked black rose blooming on his waist.

Someone commented, and she replied, "Seven times in one night, haha."

I silently liked it and commented, "Great, have fun."

——

After I commented, I hadn't had time to calm down when Anker Watson called.

I had just picked up the phone when he launched into a barrage of accusations.

"We were assigned to live together by the cycling team leader, and everyone was assigned that way. You're just looking for trouble," he said.

"And why is your malice so strong? Coral, you're really disgusting," he added.

Hearing his barrage of accusations, I momentarily stopped breathing, and a dull pain spread through my chest.

He had said earlier that morning that he was feeling a bit down and wanted to relax before getting married, and he had promised me that he would come back as soon as possible.

But by the evening, I had prepared dinner for him, and he said that there was going to be a team gathering tonight, and as the vice-captain, he couldn't get away from it, and he wouldn't be coming back that night.

However, he also said that I should wait for him at home and he would come to pick me up to the wedding venue tomorrow.

But now, everything had become extremely disgusting.

I took a deep breath and asked him, "Is it illegal for boys to live with boys in your team?"

This was a normal question, but there was a sobbing sound on the other end of the phone. "Since Coral doesn't like me so much, I'll go out. Anker, you don't have to worry about me."

Anker was instantly annoyed, his voice low and grim. "Don't worry about her. She's going through menopause."

Without waiting for me to respond, he hung up the call on his end.

Staring at the screen that had retreated from the call page, I felt that the air around me seemed to become bitter.

His words were like a bucket of ice water from a thousand years ago, rushing towards me head-on, extinguishing all my hopes and joy.

With a man and a woman alone in the same room, I dared not think about what might happen.

The more I thought about it, the more nauseated I felt.

At this point, marriage was no longer an option.

I looked at the wedding room I had decorated little by little, and smiled wryly.

I had thought that marriage was a matter between two people, but now it seemed that only I was immersed in the beautiful dream I had woven.

I took a deep breath and took off the wedding dress.

Then I took out a suitcase from the closet to pack my clothes.

After I finished packing, I sent him a message, "We're breaking up."

The message was successfully sent, and I deleted his contact information one by one.

It seemed that by doing this, I could completely remove him from my world.

I didn't go home but found a hotel to stay.

As for what would happen next, it had nothing to do with me.

The next day, while I was still sound asleep, my cell phone on the bedside table started ringing urgently.

I picked it up and saw it was my mom calling.

I thought for a moment before answering the phone, and then the scolding began.

"Coral, where did you and Anker go to hang out? Why haven't you come to the hotel yet? His phone is also unreachable. What's going on between the two of you?"

Hearing those words, I was momentarily stunned.

Soon I regained my composure, and I thought he must have been too exhausted from his night of pleasure.

I bit my lip and told her, "I broke up with Anker, and the wedding is off."

"What are you talking about? Come over here right away!"

Chapter 2

As I had expected, my mother did not agree with my decision to break up.

She insisted that I find Anker and get married.

Hearing her angry scolding, I was very calm. "Marriage is out of the question. He has someone else outside."

Hearing this, she was stunned.

There was a moment of silence on the other end of the phone, and she said, "Then come back, and we'll talk about it."

I nodded in response, hung up the phone, and got up to wash up.

When I was done, Anker sent me a message using someone else's phone.

He ignored my breakup message from last night and said, "You were really mean yesterday, bullying a girl and making her cry for a long time. I had to comfort her for a long time before she calmed down. When we get back, you should treat her to dinner and apologize.

"As for the wedding, it's a punishment for you. You're not allowed to bully people like that again."

Looking at the message he sent, I had a hint of mockery in my eyes.

What had I done to make him think I couldn't live without him?

I lowered my head and replied, "We've already broken up. What you want to do has nothing to do with me. Let's stop contacting each other."

After sending the message, I blocked this number.

After finishing this, I took my luggage and checked out.

When I got home, my mother was still pacing angrily in the living room.

I thought she was on my side, standing up for me, so I said softly, "Mom, don't be angry. I have broken up with him. We will never have anything to do with each other again."

These words ignited the fuse.

My mother instantly exploded with anger, staring at me, and said, "Just because of this little thing, you want to break up. When you are making trouble out of nothing, have you ever thought about where I should put my face?"

Upon hearing this, I was stunned, looking at her in disbelief.

It turned out that her anger was not because of what Anker did, but because I decisively proposed to break up.

In an instant, my whole body began to tremble uncontrollably.

"Mom, are you asking me to endure it?"

"What else? It's normal for men to be unfaithful. You are his soon-to-be wife. Why bother with those insignificant mistresses?"

My mother was trying her best to persuade me, but I felt a chill run up my feet.

My father was irresponsible when he was young, and he was constantly unfaithful. My mother used to argue and fight with him, but after seeing it too many times, she got used to it and just asked him to give her money on time every month.

Now, he was living a carefree life alone, maintaining a nominal marriage with her.

Who among our neighbors hadn't said something behind our backs?

She knew how painful it was to be trapped in such a marriage, so why did she want to drag me into it?

"Mom, this is not the kind of marriage I want! What I want is a loyal and faithful husband..."

"What kind of dreams are you making?" My mother interrupted impatiently. "I don't care what you think. You have to get married, whether you like it or not. The invitations have already been sent out, and if you back out now, you'll be embarrassing me!

"Stop here, let's go find Anker now. We'll apologize to him, and once he forgives you, we'll reschedule the wedding date for another time."

I was so angry at her words that I almost couldn't breathe.

But I also firmly expressed my attitude, 'I'll say it again, there is no future between me and Anker! No matter what you do, it won't change this fact!

She was stubborn and insisted that I apologize.

I was annoyed and left there with my luggage again.

Chapter 3

I was aimlessly walking down the street, and the familiar sights around me became blurred in the release of my emotions.

I met Anker on a blind date, and he had the unique charm of a mature man, although sometimes he was not very sensitive to the moods of others. But he would never disappoint me.

He liked cycling, but I didn't even ride a bicycle. In order to keep up with him, I often went out to practice riding when he was not around.

I often fell down and got hurt all over, but I still chose to persist.

Later, when I finally learned how to ride, and wanted to go cycling with him to relax, but he said, "You're a beginner, and you can't ride steadily. Following us will slow down our progress. You should practice first."

He refused me without hesitation, and then turned around to teach Laura Linton. He even often went cycling with her in his free time.

I argued with him several times about this, and he would initially try to comfort me. But over time, he became increasingly impatient.

He said to me, "A person with a dirty mind always thinks of something dirty."

I was unjustly accused, but because I liked him enough, I chose to silently endure.

Because in a relationship, there would always be one person who gave more than the other.

He was not good at expressing emotions, so I could do it.

Gradually, I got used to this kind of giving, and he also took it for granted.

But all I wanted was a home of my own, why was it so hard?

I choked up and wiped away a tear from the corner of my eye.

I couldn't stay at home, so I had to continue staying in a hotel until I found a suitable house.

Fortunately, I had a stable job, which was the only comfort in my chaotic life.

After calming down emotionally, I went to work the next day.

Just as I was about to start working after a meeting, the manager walked in with a beautiful woman.

She had a bright smile on her face and greeted everyone in the office.

When her eyes fell on me, her smile became even brighter, "Coral, what a coincidence! You're here too."

Looking at Laura, who was greeting me, my calm emotions had a slight ripple.

She was a new employee, but the manager personally brought her here for an introduction just to let everyone know that she had an extraordinary identity.

I didn't respond to her, and she wasn't annoyed. Her gaze moved away from me.

As I was leaving the office at the end of the afternoon, Laura walked towards me.

She smiled and said, "Anker is coming to pick me up later. Let's go together."

I had no expression on my face. "No, it's not convenient."

Laura was surprised and covered her mouth, smiling brightly, "Coral, are you still angry about us staying in the same room that day?

"We're all grown-ups now. Let's not be so stuffy..."

I sneered, "It's your business to be open-minded, and it's your business to be flirtatious with others. Don't try to impose your morality on me."

As soon as I finished speaking, I felt the burning gaze behind me.

Anker walked briskly towards me, looking sullen at me.

"I thought you would realize your mistake, but I didn't expect you to still be so unreasonable! You're both girls, don't you think it's too low to spread rumors?"

I glared at him coldly. "If the dog doesn't bark, how would I ever scold it, Mr. Watson? Please keep your women in check and stop acting like a dog."

I gave them a disdainful look and turned around to leave.

But he directly grabbed me by the arm.

His face was so dark that the anger in his eyes seemed about to erupt.

"Coral, who told you to speak to me like that? Apologize!"

"Let go! Why should I apologize?"

I thought I hadn't said or done anything wrong, why should I apologize?

The disgust in my eyes was obvious, and Anker's face momentarily stiffened as he looked at me with a sinister expression. "Good! Very good! I hope you can still be so stubborn in the future."

Saying this, he let go of my hand and walked away with Laura, leaving me behind.

He hadn't taken more than two steps when Laura giggled and put her arm around his arm, not forgetting to give me a challenging look as she turned back.

To be honest, such behavior was rather childish.

But unfortunately, some people fell for it.

My heart sank, and I turned away.
