Chapter 2
However, no one heard the screaming in my heart. Mona's cold voice was the only thing that I heard. "You're too soft-hearted, Hudson. We've been planning for so long just for this day. We can't stop short now.”
"Have you forgotten how Sean took everything from you? If it wasn't for his mother, your secret as an illegitimate son would never have been exposed and your mother wouldn't have died. You would have married the woman you love, and would never have been kicked out of the Langdons!”
"Don't worry. Once everything ends, I will make it up to Sean."
I was trembling and convulsing despite my numb limbs. It felt like a thousand needles were piercing into my body. I could taste the blood in my mouth and could only swallow the blood I was supposed to spit out. I did not want Mona to make anything up to me!
All I wanted was for her to let me out. I would willingly give up my position as heir and leave this place as far as possible to never come between them again.
Hudson sounded like he was crying as he choked back a sob, "You're so good to me, Mona. Every time I get sad and broken-hearted, you’ll agitate Sheila on purpose to get her to torture Sean. You even managed to convince her to share pictures and video recordings of the torture sessions.”
"Every time I see Sean getting injured all over from being beaten up and begging for the beating to be stopped, and then starved for three days and three nights while locked inside the closet, only to be released looking completely dehydrated, it makes me feel better."
Mona hugged Hudson tight in her arms and could not help sighing, "It's worth hurting Sean a million times over if it means cheering you up. He owes you that much."
Tears streamed down my face inside the coffin. It felt like my heart had collapsed after being smashed by a hammer. Was that how Mona had always seen me? How could someone be so cruel? It never occurred to me that she was the mastermind behind every torture session I suffered.
Mona had always been loving, but the truth was, she had been keeping video recordings and pictures of me being tortured behind my back to make another man happy.
Tears fell from my eyes and onto the wood as I laughed silently, and they vanished as the wood absorbed the moisture. I wonder if it was because of my intense misery that my body suddenly burst with the sudden force of energy I never knew I had.
My fingers could move! I just wanted to live, no matter how much I hated that adulterous pair. I scratched the wood below me in the coffin and left several marks while weak sounds of scratching could be heard. I hoped fervently that they could hear the movement inside the coffin.
The next second, I lost all hope when I heard passionate kissing coming from outside. I could feel a man's back being pressed hard against the top of the coffin, and I used all my remaining energy to knock on the wood with my finger.
However, no one outside could hear me as they were in a passionate embrace. The moaning and panting of a man and a woman intertwined as they kept jostling the coffin, which creaked continuously from their movement.
Every attempt at calling for help was easily drowned out by the noises they made. Mona's body thrusted continuously while murmuring loving words, "Have you any idea how long I've been waiting for this day, Hudson? I've finally managed to wait for the day you give up Sheila to marry me. I had to bear the disgust of seducing Sean for you. You're all I could think about during that night when I was with him."
I closed my eyes and clenched my teeth to force myself not to listen to those disgusting noises out there. I thought that my will to live was stronger than my hate for them, but I was wrong. I was filled with hate for them.
My hate for Mona was as strong as my love for her before. I hated myself even more for falling in love with two women who did not hold back when it came to hurting me.
I had no idea how much time had passed before it was finally quiet outside. Just as I had given up all hope, a small crack suddenly opened.
Chapter 3
The light that shone into the coffin blinded me. Hudson's handsome, yet slightly sullen expression appeared in front of my eyes. His cheeks were slightly flushed, and his clothes were a mess. It was clear that he had just been intimate with Mona.
I looked at him pleadingly, hoping that he could save me, but Hudson did not seem surprised that I had woken up. He looked at me with disdain. "Tsk, tsk, poor thing. You're about to be buried alive. Mona has gone to take care of the funeral. I'll accompany you for a short chat, my good brother.”
"Five years ago, when your mother found out about my identity, she forced my mom to her death to clear all of the obstacles in your way, and even got Dad to remove my name from the family register. However, it didn't stop there. You took my wedding from me. I was supposed to be the one to marry Sheila!”
"You've been married to Sheila for five years, and she tortured you for five years, but you took it all in your stride and refused to get a divorce. The only thing left to do was get Mona to seduce you. I can't believe you were stupid enough to fall for her. Haven't you been dreaming about marrying Mona overseas? You took my marriage from me, so I'm taking yours!”
"I waited until the day your mother finally died. Oh, I did some work on your suspended animation drug. Once you get buried, you're going to feel every second of your slow death. The day you die will be the day I marry Mona."
Hudson chose his words carefully by using the cruelest things he could think of. My heart felt colder by the second, and the hope that flared within me was vanquished right away. This put Hudson in a great mood as he smiled.
He removed all the water and food that had been left in the coffin for me and said nonchalantly, "You're about to die, anyway, so you won't need any of these. I'll leave the oxygen canister for you to live a few more extra days. Unfortunately for you, you won't be able to see me marry Mona."
The coffin was closed once more and the light vanished. My fingers dug deep into the coffin's wood, almost to the point of breaking my nails. My eyelids got heavier by the second, and I fell unconscious from fatigue.
When I woke up next, I could hear many voices speaking outside. My funeral had begun. The guests were greeting each other, and continuous laughter could be heard. No one was sad over my 'death'.
"The second son of the Langdons is finally tortured to death. Sheila Edwards must have beaten him to a pulp, yet he still refused to get a divorce for the sake of the Langdons."
"Serves him right! He deserves it for snatching his brother's woman. His brother is better looking and more capable than he is. If it wasn't for the fact that his brother was exposed as an illegitimate son, there wouldn't have been a place for Sean Langdon in his family."
"Exactly! He even drugged Sheila so he could marry her. Shameless, isn't he? Too bad Sheila aborted the baby right after they got married. How ironic. Now that he's dead, Sheila doesn't even want to attend his funeral."
"Hudson is pretty lucky. Even though he suffered five years ago, his brother is dead now. Not only is he the sole heir to the Langdons, but he's also marrying the only daughter of the Sachman Group next week. No one will dare call him an illegitimate son openly again."
…
Everyone gossiped about my family and my marriage while laughing condescendingly at me. None of them had any idea that there was someone alive lying inside the coffin. I was filled with despair as I waited for death.
After the priest finished his prayers, it was time to bury me. I struggled with all my might. It felt like time seemed to be slipping away from me, and there was no one to save me. The coffin was lifted over to my cemetery plot and placed in front of it. That was when I heard Mona lean in close to my coffin.
I mustered all of my energy to spit out the words from my throat, "S… Save me."
