Chapter 2
Lucius' patience was exhausted and he was angry.
"You grew up with me, you know best how my relationship with Noella is. Her dad died in a car accident trying to save me. Do you want me to ignore her?"
"I broke one of her legs last time and I didn't expect her to get even worse. She'll definitely learn a lesson after she gives birth of her child. I'll then arrange for her to go abroad and never come back. Isn't that okay?"
Tears suddenly slipped down my cheeks and a bitter smile appeared on the corners of my lips.
"Yeah, her dad saved your life and you can forgive her for climbing into your bed and forcing you to break your vows. But what about me? I've been in love with you for eight years, so should I live as a mistress?"
"Even the only time you went to bed was for her. Lucius, I'm also a human being. I'm so tired and sick of you."
Just as I finished my words, his roar came from the other end.
"Okay, remember what you said, don't regret it!"
"I've been a vegetarian for years to atone my sins. Which other man in the circle has never slept with seventeen or eighteen years-old girl? I only have you and Noella and we have already done our utmost. If you can accept it, get married, if you can't, leave. It's up to you."
The phone hung up and the seawater gradually spread to my feet.
This private sea area was once his favorite place.
Every piece of gravel on the beach was filled with our sweet memories.
But now, I was the only one who still remembered it.
My father dan mother called me overnight as soon as they learned that I wanted to cancel my engagement.
"Rachelle, why do you suddenly want to cancel your engagement?"
"Haven't you always liked Lucius?"
I walked step by step into the seawater, letting the coldness sink into my chest.
"Lucius, his little niece is pregnant."
"Well, that ... that fetus in her womb may still be a few days old, you can discuss it carefully."
"No need, I didn't cancel the wedding, I just changed the groom, you know him, Anthony Spencer."
My parents were speechless in an instant.
"What?"
"Wait, isn't he fond of men? Why did you choose him? Dear, please don't let yourself be a pessimistic ...."
I couldn't help but burst out laughing.
"Is that so? The more reason for me to act on behalf of Heaven then."
The cold breeze blew the whole night on the beach.
The questions I once couldn't think straight were now meaningless to dwell on.
At daybreak, I contacted the agent to to sell the villa we would live in after we got married.
When I went back to pack my things, I saw a pile of express packages outside the door.
It was the mother and baby product Lucius had prepared.
Pushed open the door, I saw a wall full of romantic photos.
The person in the photo was not me, but Noella.
At first, there were Lucius' handwritten books on martial arts techniques here, which were his most valuable possessions.
Whenever I touched them, he would give me a glare.
But now, Noella had occupied the highest position in his heart.
The two of them stood under the photo wall. Noella touched her not-so-obvious belly with a charming smile.
"Lucius, if the child is born and grows up well, will you teach him martial arts? It would be good if he learns martial arts to protect and defend himself."
"If the child follows you, perhaps, he would be a master in a martial art like you."
The sound of the door opening caught the attention of them.
They saw me appear.
Noella knelt straight in front of me and apologized over and over again.
"Auntie, I'm sorry. It's my fault. I didn't listen to you and insisted on keeping the child. Please don't blame me, okay?"
"I've liked my uncle for a long time. I swear, I won't bother you. I'll be satisfied, as long as I give birth to his child, then I'll leave and won't bother you ...."
Chapter 3
Before I could respond her, Lucius said coldly, "You don't need to apologize to her. I'm your guardian. I have always been and will always be."
"I didn't discipline you well and I'm at least half responsible for this matter."
He looked up at me.
"Rachelle, I've already made this clear to her and she won't do it again in the future."
"She was young and ignorant, but you were also wrong. You shouldn't have sent her to the suburbs privately. If I had been a step later, she would have been injured by a stray dog. Apologize and let this matter go!"
I stared back into his eyes, cold and expressionless.
I just found it ridiculous.
"Me, apologize to her? Are you crazy, Lucius?"
The next second, Noella's sharp nails scratched a line between my legs.
I gasped in pain and cold sweat soaked my whole body.
I quickly pushed her away, without much force, but she fell straight down the stairs.
"What are you doing!"
Lucius pushed me hard and my back hit the wall hard.
The excruciating pain of nearly broken bones.
"I think the crazy one is you!"
"Noella has already lowered her head to you and I have also explained it to you, what else do you want?"
"Apologize, or you can give it a try!"
Gritting my teeth and swallowing my grievances, I said word by word, "Dream on!"
"You want me to apologize to your lover? Lucius, just dream on!"
His eyes turned red with anger and he carried Noella into the bedroom to rest.
When he went out, he called the bodyguards of the entire villa.
"Ms. Verhoeven has lost her mind. Take her to the pool and get her clear headed!"
"Keep an eye on her and don't let her out without my permission!"
My eyes turned grim and I looked at him in disbelief.
"Lucius, you are crazy! She is just a mistress who climbed into your bed. How dare you do this to me?"
"She's my niece, watch your mouth!"
"Don't make me say it a second time!"
A threatening gaze swept across my face and the man turned and left.
The bodyguard dragged me into the swimming pool and pushed me in.
Blood dispersed in the water.
The piercing cold engulfed me.
The wound between my legs was washed away by the water over and over again and I blanched in pain.
As my consciousness gradually blurred, I looked at the bodyguard at the edge of the pool and begged in a low voice.
"Let me go ... please, help me get Lucius over ...."
The bodyguard didn't give me a glance and asked the servant to pour some disinfectant into the pool.
"How long have you been soaking in there? It's only been a few minutes, don't worry, I'll definitely help you when you're about to die."
"Mr. Brussel is busy applying medicine to Ms. Devervelt. Don't try to ruin their good mood at this time!"
From the French window, I could see how Lucius treating and blowing on Noella's wound, gently and slowly.
The next second, I lost all my strength and slid down from the edge of the pool.
In half-unconscious, I heard the bodyguard's urgent voice.
"Oh no! Ms. Verhoeven is unconscious."
"Why is there blood in the swimming pool? Hurry, ask Mr. Brussel to come over and check on her!"
The familiar footsteps approached and someone patted my face.
Lucius's voice was even colder than the pool water.
"Have enough of acting?"
"Those who didn't know thought you're the one who got injured."
"Rachelle, it's time to control your temper. I'm doing it for your own good."
The hand holding my neck suddenly loosened and my body gradually slid into the water.
The figures of the two of them hugging each other were reflected on the water surface.
Noella hid in his arms delicately, her voice aggrieved.
"Lucius, I don't think she's faking it. She's not unconscious, is she? Have we gone too far?"
"If she spreads the news of my pregnancy, you'll definitely be stabbed in the back."
Chapter 4
Lucius's face turned cold.
"She dares? She would love to sleep with me every night and now, I finally agree to go to bed with her, she would be happy."
"But she went too far this time. It will take another eight months for you to give birth. You can't let her threaten you everywhere. It's better to teach her a lesson in advance."
A hint of pride flashed in her eyes and it quickly changed into an innocent one.
"I heard, master in martial art break their vows and return to secular life for the sake of their loved ones. So, who are you doing this for, Lucius?"
The icy cold pool water drowned me and a piercing chill soaked through my limbs and bones.
In that moment, I heard my almost suffocating heartbeat.
Lucius smiled and affectionately scraped the tip of her nose.
"You clearly know, but you still ask me?"
The girl kept shaking his arm, causing his regular breathing in turmoil
"Then, why did you agree to marry Rachelle?"
"If you don't tell me, I won't eat tonight and your baby will starve to death."
Lucius sighed deeply after losing the heated conversation.
"Since the world doesn't allow it and outsiders don't accept it, I can't show off my true lover."
"I want to protect her. Rachelle has a good nature and for me, she is the best choice."
His calm and peaceful gaze for many years, were filled with turbulent waves at this moment.
"So, she has to be good, so we can't be discovered by others, okay?"
The piercing words pierced through my heart one by one.
I couldn't tell whether my body hurt more or my heart hurt more.
The memories chasing after him gradually blurred.
I thought we were childhood sweethearts, I thought our love was a bond, but in the end, it was nothing but a lie to cover up his true feelings.
It was ridiculous that I had been waiting him for twenty-eight years and my only wish was to make him leave the martial arts and live an ordinary life with me.
The young man who promised me in front of God that he would never let me down was eventually lost in my memory.
The tense nerves suddenly snapped and blood kept gushing out from under my body.
Lucius finally realized something was wrong and angrily shouted at the bodyguard beside him.
"What are you waiting for? Go bring her out!"
"If anything happens to her, you don't have to work anymore!"
In unconsciousness, the cold body fell into a warm embrace.
The sandalwood scent lingered at my nose and I seemed to have returned to the time before he entered martial arts world.
But as soon as I opened my eyes, the dream was over.
I was moved to the guest room, where Lucius was sitting beside the bed.
His face was filled with a chill as if a storm was about to come.
"Why didn't you tell me it hurt? Did you know your corpus luteum was ruptured? If you were a step later, you would have died!"
"Rachelle, when will your bad temper change? I don't have time to guess your thoughts every day. I'm really tired of you doing this."
Ignoring his words, I turned my head around the room.
When it was first renovated, this room was originally intended to be used to store miscellaneous items and it was no different from a rough draft.
I didn't expect I would be the first person to move in now.
I smirked from the corner of my lips and didn't even glance at him.
"Ah, are you tired? Don't worry, it will be as you wish soon."
"Don't waste your time acting with me, go and spend time with your little lover."
I struggled to sit up and knocked over all the medicine he had brought me at the bedside.
"This is the villa I bought, I don't need you to play the master."
"If you don't take Noella and get out, the next ones to be beaten will be you."
Lucius was completely enraged. He immediately stood up and yelled at me.
"Enough! Do you have to be so aggressive?"
