Chapter 1

On the wedding day, my fiancée didn’t show up. I endured the strange looks from the guests and walked through the ceremony alone. When I led people into the new room, I saw him hugging his childhood friend and the two of them were lying naked on the wedding bed.

For the sake of face, he turned the tables and said that I was unfaithful before marriage and that he deliberately retaliated against me and that Vania was the bride he wanted to marry.

For a while, I became the laughing stock of everyone, but my childhood sweetheart, Wilmot, took out a diamond ring from his arms to express his love, saying that he had long been in love with me and was willing to marry me and would love me with all his heart.

After three years of marriage, he was a well-known wife-loving maniac. I regarded him as the salvation of this life. He wanted a child, so I took bitter medicine and acupuncture every day.

On the day I got pregnant, I happily took the pregnancy test report to him, but I accidentally heard the conversation between him and his doctor friend.

“Vania’s body is not suitable for conception. If you want to keep this child, you can only transfer the embryo to Rachel’s uterus and let her give birth to your child with someone else. Isn’t it a bit cruel?”

Wilmot’s eyes were full of indifference.

“Just hide it from her. At worst, I will give her another child later.”

“Tsk tsk, she wants to have a child for you so much. If she knew that you have been taking birth control pills and the tonics you gave her were also to recuperate her body so that she could give birth to your child with Vania, she would probably go crazy, right?”

Wilmot pursed his lips bitterly. “So what? If it weren’t for Vania’s happiness, I wouldn’t marry her. Vania is willing to give me a child. I’m so happy that I’m going crazy. Who cares so much? I have already compensated Rachel with the rest of my life, isn’t it enough?”

I clenched the report in my hand and tears flowed down my face unconsciously.

It turned out that the love that I had worshipped as a god and redeemed for these years was just a play and a scam.

In this case, I would let go.

——

“I have seen how good Rachel has been to you over the years. She was obviously afraid of needles, but she still endured the needles and took medicine for the sake of the child. What kind of magic potion did Vania feed you? It made you go and hurt someone who loves you so much without hesitation. Although these medicines can improve the function of her uterus, they have side effects. You may never have your own children in the future. Is it worth it?”

Hearing this, Wilmot’s face showed a struggling look, but it disappeared soon.

“As long as I see Vania happy, everything is worth it, even if I can only love her secretly. She said she wanted to give me a child and I couldn’t refuse. As for Rachel, I married her for Vania’s happiness. I have compensated her enough over the years. I didn’t plan to have a child with her. Besides, as long as you don’t say it and I don’t say it, she will only treat the baby in her belly as her own child and she can live in the beautiful dream I weave for her.”

His friend shook his head helplessly.

“You’d better pray that she will never find out the truth. After the embryo transfer surgery, you should treat her well and break off the bad fate with Vania as soon as possible.”

Wilmot rubbed his temples and frowned.

“I will transfer the shares under my name to her as compensation. When she gives birth to this child, I will spend more time and energy on the family.”

The pregnancy test report in my hand was wrinkled by me and my happy smile froze on my face before I could retract it.

Hearing footsteps coming from the study, I fled back to the bedroom in a panic, leaning against the door weakly with tears streaming down my face.

The Adkins Family attached the most importance to inheritance. For three years, I had been trying to give Wilmot a child. I had tried all kinds of disgusting folk remedies, but I still couldn’t get pregnant. I always thought it was my own problem. I was always disliked by the elders of the Adkins Family and often cried and blamed myself in the middle of the night.

Chapter 2

But until now, I knew that it turned out that he didn’t want to have a child with me and had been secretly taking birth control pills.

A month ago, he got drunk at a social event and probably didn’t take the medicine, so I got pregnant with this child by mistake.

He was not enthusiastic about children at first, until half a year ago, he suddenly told me that he wanted a child and started to prescribe various tonics for me. I thought at that time, he had already been involved with Vania and planned to use my uterus as a container.

The funny thing was that I foolishly thought that he was sincerely looking forward to our child.

There was a sound of footsteps in the corridor. Before I could react, the bedroom door was opened. Wilmot saw me kneeling on the ground with red eyes and hurriedly came forward to help me up.

“Wife, what’s wrong with you? The ground is cold, how can you sit directly on the ground?”

He stared at the tear marks on my cheeks and gently stroked them with a distressed look.

“What’s wrong? Why did you cry suddenly?”

The concern and anxiety in his eyes didn’t seem fake. I forced a smile with grief.

“I twisted my foot accidentally and it took a while to recover. Now it’s much better.”

Wilmot was relieved, frowned and whispered, “You are so careless at such an age. If you really get pregnant, can I still rest assured that you will be alone?”

He didn’t notice my abnormality, picked up a bowl of steaming medicine and handed it to my mouth.

“Wife, drink this tonic quickly, I have good news to tell you later.”

I stared at the dark medicine, my eyes were sore.

He knew the side effects of the medicine, but he still insisted on feeding me every day. He didn’t want me to have his child.

I clenched the pregnancy test report in my hand and looked at him with the last glimmer of hope.

“Wilmot, this medicine is too bitter. Can I not drink it? In fact, I also have a piece of news to tell you.”

Wilmot was stunned for a moment, but still insisted on bringing the medicine to my mouth.

“Wife, haven’t you always wanted a child? Why don’t you drink the medicine obediently? Although it’s a bit bitter, it’s all for your own good. You drink it first. I have asked the servants to prepare your favorite candied dates. If there is anything, we can talk after you finish drinking the medicine.”

There was a hint of impatience in his eyes. Whenever someone in the company disobeyed his opinion, he would have this expression and in the end, only others would make changes.

I knew clearly that he was strong, so I stopped resisting. I took the bowl and drank it all in one breath. Only then did he show a gentle smile again.

“My dear wife, Linden just told me that our fertilized eggs have been successfully cultured in vitro. After three days, they will be transplanted into your uterus and we will have our own child!” Wilmot said as he picked me up and spun me around excitedly.

“Wife, are you happy? We are finally going to have a child. You have worked hard these days. I only found out that my sperm quality was not up to standard during the last check-up, which led to our efforts being useless for so long. Fortunately, technology is advanced enough now and we are about to realize our dream! You just said you had news to tell me, what is it?”

I lowered my eyes and said nothing, just shook my head lightly. “It’s not an important thing.” However, as soon as I finished speaking, the pregnancy test report slipped out of my pocket and fell in front of Wilmot. He looked at me suspiciously and was about to reach out to pick it up when the phone suddenly rang.

When he saw the name on the note, his face changed drastically and he hurried out to answer the phone. “Wife, there is an emergency at the company, I have to deal with it.”

I never doubted him before, but today, I could clearly see that the note on the screen was “Vania Baby”.

I watched his back as he left, smiled gently at the other end of the phone and my heart was broken.

The happiness I thought was just a scam he carefully designed.

After Wilmot left, I went to the hospital alone.

“You just found out that you are pregnant and you want to abort this child? What about your husband, does he know?”

Meeting the doctor’s concerned eyes, I pursed my lips.

“My husband and I don’t want this child.”

The doctor looked at me in confusion. “But you were very happy when you saw the pregnancy test report just now…”

She muttered a few times, but didn’t ask any more questions. She sighed and asked people to prepare for the operation.

I lay on the cold stretcher, my hands unconsciously touched my lower abdomen, felt the faint movement inside and tears couldn’t stop pouring out.

Even if this child came to the world, he would not be loved and expected.

Just as I was worrying, the stretcher passed through the corridor and the envious voices of the nurses reached my ears.

“This man really loves his wife. He accompanies his wife to the hospital every day to use the most expensive equipment for a full body check. It’s only been a month and he’s so nervous.”

I turned sideways and followed the nurses’ line of sight, but I saw a familiar back.

This custom suit was designed by me personally for Wilmot and there was no way I could make a mistake. And the person he was carefully supporting was Vania!

There was a naughty child running on the side and before he touched the corner of Vania’s clothes, he was blocked by him with a frown.

Just as Wilmot was about to turn around, I was pushed into the operating room and my palms were rubbed with blood by my nails on my clenched fists.

When I felt the warm life being stripped from my body and turned into a cold blood clot beside me, I couldn’t help crying out loud.

After calming down, I dragged my uncomfortable body out like a zombie, but was stopped by a pair of hands at the corner of the stairs.

“Hey, Rachel, what are you doing here alone?”

I raised my head and met Vania’s condescending eyes.

I turned around and wanted to leave, but she came forward and blocked me, sneering, “Are you here for another check-up and medicine? You haven’t gotten pregnant in three years. You are really useless. Wilmot made me pregnant in three months.”

She said, while shyly stroking her belly, with a sweet face.

“You, you will never get pregnant, Wilmot swore to me long ago that only I can get pregnant with his child. I casually said that I had no appetite during pregnancy and he went to the doctor to learn about special nutritional meals. You have been married for three years, has he ever cooked a meal for you personally?”

Seeing my pale face, Vania got interested and leaned close to my ear to continue to whisper provocatively.

“I just lied a little and said I was weak and Wilmot agreed to let you give birth to my child without hesitation. But I can’t bear to let my child come out of the belly of a rubbish like you. Rachel, you are just a pitiful thing. Your ex-fiancé left you to marry me and your current husband also begged me to give birth to his child. You’re really a complete failure.”

She raised her eyebrows more and more proudly. I wanted to walk away unbearably, but just as I moved, she suddenly screamed and fell to the side.

“Vania!” A panicked cry came from the other end of the corridor. Wilmot rushed over like a gust of wind, pushed me to the ground and hugged Vania in his arms. I had just had a miscarriage and my body was weak. There was a dense pain in my lower abdomen. I bit my lips tightly and couldn’t get up in pain. But Wilmot’s eyes were full of Vania and he didn’t even spare a glance for me.
