Chapter 2
Blood dripped out of the box, bright red. I looked at the unrecognizable puppy. Suddenly there was a moment of trance.
When I was sent to the Monroe Family, I was only eighteen years old. As a teenager, I didn't know how to take care of a child.
Facing Stephan crying all day, I had no choice but to find a puppy to keep him company. Two-year-old Stephan followed me around with his puppy in his arms all day. At that time, he said that the puppy and I were the most important things in his life.
Who would have thought that eight years later. He killed the puppy with his own hands. It also broke my heart.
I took a deep breath and looked up at Stephan. "Okay. As you wish, I will leave tomorrow."
As soon as the voice fell, Sonny's voice suddenly came from behind.
Sonny walked slowly. "You want to leave? Meredith, is it necessary to get angry over a beast and a child?"
He sat on a chair at the door. He waited for me to change his shoes and undress him with a nonchalant look.
Seeing that I was hesitant to move, Sonny frowned unhappily. "Stephan has already apologized to you, what else are you dissatisfied with?"
He continued, "Have you stayed in the Monroe Family for too long, making you forget your identity and position?"
Stephan made a face at me and ran away triumphantly. Sonny shook his head helplessly and held me in his arms. Regardless of my body that had just had a miscarriage, he began to touch me randomly.
"Meredith, don't be willful. You should know how hard it is to have everything you have now. You should also know how to make me happy."
In Sonny's eyes, I, an orphan, could become a rich and wealthy wife. It was a blessing that I had cultivated for several lifetimes. Even if I was in this family, I was just a nanny who allowed him to vent his desires and took care of his children for him. I should be grateful to him.
In the past, I might have done this. But today, I raised my face stubbornly and looked at Sonny fearlessly.
"Mr. Monroe, our contract has expired."
The hand covering my thigh exerted a little force. The initial ambiguity disappeared. Sonny's face was stained with a bit of anger.
"Meredith, don't be ungrateful. I took time out of my busy schedule to come back and accompany you, not to see you give me a cold shoulder."
He pinched my face, his tone cold as he said, "Don't think that just because you have a face like hers, you can challenge my bottom line. Meredith, you are just a substitute."
The "her" in Sonny's mouth. It was Stephan's biological mother Jennie. It was the original mistress of the Monroe Family. It was also Sonny's first love and wife.
She died of illness when Stephan was two years old. Sonny was heartbroken. In order to please him, the people of the Monroe Family found me who was 80% similar to Jennie. I was sent to the Monroe Family by coercion and inducement.
Sonny didn't like me. But he was obsessed with my young body and my face that looked like Jennie. So he kept me by his side and signed another agreement with me.
"Jennie died when she was 26, so I only want to remember what she looked like before she was 26. After eight years, you can leave. I will treat you well in these eight years."
It sounded nice. In fact, it was just that a woman was past her prime after she turned 25. He wanted to find a younger and prettier replacement.
I pushed Sonny's hand away and took out the divorce agreement from the bedroom.
Chapter 3
"Mr. Monroe, I should leave. I have sorted out the precautions and tasks that need to be handed over in advance and handed them over to the housekeeper."
From now on, I didn’t have to endure the pain all over my body and get up at four in the morning. Just to made a breakfast that suited the father and son.
Sonny was stunned for a moment and then he threw the divorce agreement to the ground.
He said angrily, "Meredith, are you looking at me? Have you forgotten who the master of this house is?"
After that, he roughly grabbed my arm and dragged me to the bed. "Want to leave? I can help you. But before you leave, you have to serve me well first!"
Without giving me time to refuse, the huge body pressed over. He was rampaging. I was like a small boat on the sea, drifting up and down with the surging waves. Every breath was filled with pain and fear. After an unknown amount of time, the waves gradually subsided.
Sonny signed his name on the divorce agreement. He threw down a few hundred dollars.
With a bit of contempt, he sneered, "I almost forgot that the contract has ended.
He continued, "This money is your hard-earned money last night. Don't think it's too little. A rag who has been played with for eight years is only worth this much. But I'm really curious. Where can you, an orphan without parents, go after leaving the Monroe Family?"
I turned around painfully.
What caught my eye was the wedding photo of Sonny and Jennie. The two people in the photo. One smiled like a flower and the other was full of tenderness.
I murmured as if talking to myself, "Will he do the same to you?"
There was silence all around, no one responded. Only the roses outside the window were fragrant. I know he wouldn't.
When he mistook me for Jennie, Sonny would show all his affection. He would give me jewelry worth tens of millions, thousands of gifts. He would be so generous and careful, gentle and tender. Even if I wanted to see flowers blooming in winter and snow falling in summer, he would satisfy me.
But I also knew that, all of this belonged to Jennie. Sonny also had many dissatisfactions with this arrogant and willful wife. But at the moment of her death, she changed from an unqualified wife to a perfect first love.
No matter how hard I tried. I couldn’t replace a dead person in the hearts of this father and son.
My body hurt so much, I wanted to find some anti-inflammatory medicine for myself.
As soon as I walked out of the room, I was drenched in water.
Stephan stood at the stairs, looking at me with malicious eyes.
"You bitch, you pretended to leave, but you turned around and seduced my father. You are so shameless!" he mocking me with sneer in his eyes.
The cold water soaked my body and froze my heart. Eight years of dedication. Meticulous care. It seemed so ridiculous at this moment.
I returned to the room silently.
In the midst of pain and confusion, I received a call from the senior of the crew.
"Meredith, congratulations on passing the pilot assessment. On behalf of all members, I welcome you to join and look forward to the day when you fly side by side with me!"
This phone call was like the warm sun in winter. It dispelled the chill all over my body.
After the phone was hung up, my heart was still pounding.
My only dream since childhood was to become a pilot.
Eight years ago, I successfully received the admission letter from the Aviation College.
However, the day before preparing to enroll.
The Monroe Family found me.
Chapter 4
They threatened to demolish the orphanage, forcing the young me to bow my head and compromise. But I was unwilling to give up my dream.
When the contract was about to expire, I took the exam without telling anyone. I wanted to break into a new world with my own efforts.
Now, eight years had passed. No one could cut off my wings.
I quickly packed my few luggage.
When I was about to leave, I bumped into Sonny who had just returned home. Behind him was a girl with delicate makeup.
It was the new star Kenzie. She was young and beautiful, with a pair of almond eyes like Jennie.
Sonny took her hand and glanced at my suitcase lightly.
"Where are you going? Is lunch ready? Have you checked Stephan's homework carefully?"
Without waiting for my answer, Stephan couldn't wait to throw himself into Kenzie's arms.
"Aunt Kenzie, you're finally here. I missed you so much. You don't know how painful it is for me to be with a nagging old woman every day. Can you take me to eat ice cream?"
Sonny rubbed Stephan's head. He turned around and handed me a wad of money. "Kenzie and I have something to do. You go buy it."
"By the way, buy two more boxes of condoms. Kenzie is still young and taking medicine is not good for her health." He ordered me coldly.
I had been taking those contraceptives that were not good for the body for eight years. Even if I just had a miscarriage, I couldn't get any sympathy from him. After eight years. Not only was I not as good as Jennie. I was also not as good as a substitute who was only three-quarters similar to her.
This time, I didn’t want to endure Sonny's humiliation.
"Mr. Monroe, the contract has expired. I'm leaving," I said clearly.
Sonny's hand holding the money was suspended in the air.
This was the first time I disobeyed his instructions. His face sank. He raised his hand and threw the money in my face. The sharp banknotes cut a tiny wound on my face, oozing out a little blood.
"Meredith, what qualifications do you have to refuse me? Do you believe that I can demolish the orphanage where you grew up with just one word?"
I shrugged. "Whatever, I don't care."
The old director who raised me passed away last year.
At that time, I begged Sonny to allow me to see her for the last time.
But he frowned and looked at me, "I don't agree, you have to stay at home to take care of the children. If you go, you will only bring those poor and unlucky things to the Monroe Family."
I tried to sneak away, but I was locked up by Sonny in a dark house. There was no light in the narrow black house. For three whole days, there was no one to bring me water. The only thing that accompanied me was the laughter of Stephan and the servants of the Monroe Family.
And in these eight years, my playmates in the orphanage had grown up one after another. They realized their dreams and shone in their favorite fields. Only I was trapped in this loveless home. Become Stephan's nanny, become Sonny's plaything.
Now, the contract expired. The indifference and ruthlessness of the father and son had completely cut off my last concern.
I would be like that unexpected child. Forever, forever. Leave the Monroe Family forever and ever.
I carried my suitcase and strode forward.
Sonny suddenly reached out and pulled me into his arms. He seemed to be trying his best to restrain the anger in his heart. And very rarely, he took a step back.
"Meredith, stay, I will give you everything you want." He pleaded.
