Chapter 3
Avery's eyes widened in fright as she looked at me. Rage filled her gaze, but there was nothing she could do.
Because she knew that the moment this secret was revealed, she'd no longer have a chance with Timothy.
Avery and I shared the same bedroom. She would always leave at midnight and return home at 5:00 am the next day. I had secretly followed her out of the house one night out of concern for her safety.
Who knew that Avery had actually been going out and sleeping with random men at night, even going so far as to follow them home? The noises she would make in there lasted throughout the night. They only stopped at 4:00 am.
If I revealed this secret to everyone, Avery's reputation in Greenwood Vale would be ruined.
Avery was still hesitating as to what to do next. So I warned her, "You'd better weigh your options carefully. If you don't want your reputation ruined, then you'd better let me go right now."
Avery then reluctantly went to Timothy's side and said, "It's our wedding today, sweetheart. Let's not let Amelia here ruin it. Why don't we just let her go?"
Avery then turned to Dad and Mom. "Dad, Mom, I know both of you doted on me most. I'm sure you two won't stop us from kicking Amelia out, right? After all, she did embarrass our family today. She's only going to trouble us further if we let her stay."
Timothy held Avery in his arms, gazing lovingly at her. "You're right, my love. We can't let a nasty woman like Amelia ruin our wedding day. Hurry up and leave! We don't want you here ruining our wedding!"
I smiled faintly. "Sure. But before I leave, please give me back the five thousand dollars you owe me!"
Timothy had come to me and asked to borrow five thousand dollars to prepare for the wedding gifts. I had lent him the money without hesitation, already treating him as my brother-in-law. But now, I had to make sure he paid me back in full!
Timothy panicked. "What nonsense are you talking about? When did I ever owe you money?
I took out the IOU note he'd written for me before and showed it to him. "Look here, it's stated clearly in writing that you owe me five thousand dollars. You even left your signature here. Don't tell me you're illiterate?"
Timothy was extremely embarrassed after his borrowing my money had been revealed in front of my parents. "Give me a couple of days to pay you back. I've already used up all of the money."
I knew that Timothy had no money to his name. I had found out about his gambling addiction after marrying him in my previous life. He tended to gamble away every single cent he acquired.
However, Timothy hadn't asked me for money before to prepare wedding gifts. It was because he needed it to gamble.
"It's alright. I'll just take all the wedding gifts you've brought today as repayment for the five thousand dollars," I said.
"Hey, those wedding gifts belong to me." Avery was displeased. "Do you think you can just take them as you please?"
I shot her a smile. "You can always pay me the money back in Timothy's stead. Otherwise, I'll just call the police."
Timothy held Avery back and said, "My love, we won't need these petty things once we're rich. Let pathetic little Amelia take them if she wants."
Avery snorted proudly and said to me, "When I'm rich, you had better not come begging on my doorstep."
She even covered her mouth and giggled delightfully after saying that.
Dad and Mom glared at me cruelly, as if I weren't their daughter at all. They said to me, "If you're going to do such drastic and evil things, then we hereby disown you as our daughter!
Their intentions were aligned with mine. I had come to understand certain things after the previous life. I was nothing more than property in my parents' eyes. They could easily toss me away once I no longer had any usable value.
I went into the house and wrote down a statement announcing the disownment between my parents and me, thereby severing my connection to the Denning family.
Before I left the place, I even added spitefully, "If you couldn't even afford proper wedding gifts, then you might as well give up on your dream of becoming rich!"
Chapter 4
I moved out of the house and went to live by the farmer's market in town. The folk there gossiped less, and I had better privacy.
I happened to see Avery and Timothy when I left the house that day.
I had wanted to avoid them, but they blocked my way. Timothy grinned at me, saying, "Didn't you look down on me because of my impotence? I've recovered now, but you will never ever be able to marry me in this lifetime. I only love Avery, after all. Women like you don't deserve me!"
Avery blushed as she lightly smacked Timothy's chest. "Hush, don't talk about these things in public! What will we do if my sister gets jealous and tries to steal you away from me again? Oh, I nearly forgot. Amelia's no longer my sister at this point."
I ignored the couple, though I did find Timothy's recovery strange. He couldn't have recovered that fast. After all, I'd been the one who had gotten him his cure in our previous life. He couldn't have figured it out on his own!
I couldn't help but say, "Don't come crying to me when your impotence comes back after the drug's effects wear off. Who knows, you might suffer some terrible side effects!"
Timothy grew angry in an instant. "For god's sake, Amelia. I was still your husband in our previous life! Why do you have to curse me like this? I shouldn't have listened to Avery during the wedding. I should've just locked you in the basement and starved you to death. That way you'll stop ruining our lives!"
I rolled my eyes at Timothy. I really was casting pearls before swine at this point. He wasn't going to obtain the actual cure, so I thought to just reveal the truth to him. "I'm not going to waste my time squabbling with you. I'll just tell you then—"
Timothy suddenly hunched over and cupped his private parts before I could finish speaking. Sweat beaded on his forehead.
Avery hurriedly cried out, "What's wrong, sweetheart? Oh, please be okay!"
A taxi that happened to drive past came to a stop when the driver saw Timothy's dire state. The driver then swiftly drove Timothy to the hospital.
Avery insisted that I was the cause of Timothy's symptoms. She dragged me to the hospital and demanded I pay for all his medical fees.
"If anything happens to Timothy, I'll make sure you suffer dire consequences!" Avery cried.
I had only gone to the hospital out of curiosity about what would happen next.
The doctor soon finished checking up on Timothy. He seemed hesitant to speak about Timothy's condition with us.
Avery was pacing around anxiously. "Tell me what's happened to Timothy, doctor! Did he fall ill because Amelia here made him upset? She'll pay however much is necessary to treat Timothy!"
Timothy glared at me from the hospital bed, unable to move. "I won't let you off easy, you bitch!"
I couldn't help but snicker. I then pretended to be oblivious and asked the doctor, "Sir, the patient isn't completely impotent now, is he?"
