Chapter 1
My mother called me at The Agency and asked me to go home for a blind date.
All I knew was that her last name was Vanderbilt and that she was the daughter of the richest man in the area.
In order to choose a suitable gift, my leader specially organized a charity auction for me.
At the party, I took a fancy to a Queen's necklace and was about to bid for it when a strange man suddenly pushed me from behind.
"Boy, if you don't want to die, put your hands down!"
I was a little confused and turned around to refute him.
"This is an auction, not your home. Why should I listen to you?"
Faced with my questioning, the other party was full of disdain.
"Why do you ask me?"
"Because this is Metropolis City, no one dares to snatch anything Mrs. Vanderbilt likes!"
I was stunned for a few seconds, then took out my cell phone and called my fiancée.
"I heard you were pretty rampant in Metropolis City!"
If it weren't for my mom, I wouldn't even have to make this call.
In the Metropolis City where crouching tigers, hidden dragons and hidden dragons are everywhere, not everyone with more money is awesome.
If the other party's attitude of admitting her mistake is good, I can be magnanimous and forgive her this time.
"I'm busy, fart now!"
On the phone, my fiancée sounded impatient.
"Mrs. Vanderbilt, I advise you to discipline the people of your Vanderbilt Family, otherwise..."
Before I could finish my words, there was a busy tone on the other end of the phone.
I was stunned on the spot.
Do all the daughters from wealthy families have this kind of temper?
Seeing this scene, the man who threatened me before almost laughed his face off.
"Hey, I thought you really knew Mrs. Vanderbilt, but I didn't expect she wouldn't even bother to answer your call?"
"In Metropolis City, you dare to rob the Vanderbilt Family. You think your life is too long, right?"
Seeing that I was only in my early twenties and dressed very simply, the other party didn't take me seriously at all.
"Sir, let me say this one last time. This is the auction site, not your Vanderbilt Family!"
"The auction house has its own rules. The highest bidder wins!"
"The highest bidder wins?"
As soon as I finished speaking, the other party sneered on the spot.
"Boy, are you not smart enough?"
"Looking across Metropolis City, there are Vanderbilt Family businesses everywhere. How could anyone dare to compete with the Vanderbilt Family in terms of wealth?"
He became more and more excited as he spoke, and his saliva sprayed directly into my face.
I clenched my fists and my eyes were cold.
"Under the feet of the emperor, a mere businessman dares to claim to be king. How ridiculous!"
As soon as these words were spoken, there was an uproar at the scene.
"Fuck, this kid is so bold that he doesn't even care about the Vanderbilt Family, which is as wealthy as a country. Is he going to die?"
"It's just a necklace, not a rare treasure. If we offend the Vanderbilt Family because of it, it will be a loss!"
"That's not bad. If I were him, I would apologize to the other party immediately. Maybe I could even climb up the big tree of Vanderbilt Family!"
As the discussions around him grew louder, the man's expression became more and more smug.
“You bastard, you actually dared to look down on the Vanderbilt Family. I think you are tired of living!”
Faced with his threats, I didn't care at all, and even felt like laughing.
"Sir, I urge you to keep your mouth clean."
"If you really piss me off, even your master won't be able to bear the consequences."
"I'll let your mother go!"
After scolding me a few times, he still felt unsatisfied, so he rolled up his sleeves and rushed towards me again.
Chapter 2
"Why? You Vanderbilt Family people are going to resort to violence when you can't win the argument, right?"
The man threw several punches at me, but didn't even touch the corner of my clothes.
"You little bastard, try hiding from me again?"
"Believe it or not, I'm calling Mrs. Vanderbilt right now!"
Faced with the other party's repeated provocations, I did not fight back, but just kept enduring.
It’s not because I’m afraid of him, but because my leader repeatedly told me before I left the unit.
"Your words and actions represent the image of the unit. When you go out, don't get into conflict with local personnel."
Besides, I don't know how to fight.
I either don’t take action, or if I do, it’s a deadly blow!
When the other party saw that I didn't say anything, he thought I was scared and rushed towards me again with his fist raised.
At the critical moment, someone in the crowd shouted.
"Look, here comes Mrs. Vanderbilt!"
A tall young woman, surrounded by a group of bodyguards, slowly walked towards me.
"Parker Young, you are my personal assistant after all, how can you just fight with someone in public?"
I looked carefully at the woman in front of me, and I have to say that my mother has good taste.
A bright red cheongsam wrapped around her perfect figure.
If I have to find a flaw, it would only be that the way he looked at me was too cold.
"Mrs. Vanderbilt, it's our first meeting. Please allow me to briefly introduce myself."
"My last name is Stone, my given name is Zane, and my mother..."
“No need!”
Before I could finish my words, my blind date raised his hand to interrupt me impatiently.
"You and I are not suitable, and the Vanderbilt Family doesn't need a useless person like you."
I almost thought there was something wrong with my ears.
At my current level, even the boss of the Vanderbilt Family has to bow down before me.
"Mrs. Vanderbilt, I hope you can understand that I was forced into this just like you."
"Do you think I want to marry you?"
Mrs. Vanderbilt's expression changed immediately after these words were spoken.
"Stone, stop playing hard to get with me!"
"Do you know how many men in Metropolis City are trying their best to marry into the Vanderbilt family?"
I grinned.
"Mrs. Vanderbilt, I don't know what others think, but for me, marrying a farm girl is more practical than marrying an uneducated young lady like you."
"As for the Vanderbilt Family that you always mention, in my opinion, they are just some wealthy people who made their fortune in real estate. They don't have any background at all."
As soon as I finished speaking, the whole scene was in an uproar.
"My God, this kid is too arrogant. He doesn't even care about the Vanderbilt Family. Does he think his life is too long?"
"That's right. Mrs. Vanderbilt is the dream girl of all the men in Metropolis City. This idiot actually looks down on others."
"Anyone who is lucky enough to marry into the Vanderbilt family will probably wake up laughing in his dreams!"
There were constant doubts about me at the scene, but I didn't care at all.
In Metropolis City, the Vanderbilt Family is indeed considered an old money dynasty, and its businesses are spread all over the country.
But what’s the use of having more money?
In the face of power, it is nothing more than a string of numbers.
I still remember how Victoria Vanderbilt's father, chairman of the Vanderbilt Group, bowed and scraped in front of my mother.
In just half an hour, Victor Vanderbilt's white shirt got wet again and again, for he was afraid that my mother would not agree to this marriage.
He probably never imagined that the immense wealth and power he had worked so hard to obtain would soon be destroyed by his own daughter.
Chapter 3
"You little bastard, why don't you take a piss and look in the mirror? Do you think you are worthy of Mrs. Vanderbilt?"
As soon as the assistant finished speaking, Victoria immediately echoed:
"Parker is absolutely right!"
"If my dad hadn't forced me to go on a blind date, I wouldn't even bother looking at a loser like you!"
I smiled and narrowed my eyes, staring at her intently.
"Since Mrs. Vanderbilt has said so much, let's just call it quits, okay?"
I wanted to be more gentlemanly, but this self-righteous young lady in front of me seemed to have misunderstood what I meant.
"Tell me how much money you want."
I waved my hand nonchalantly.
"No need for money, I think it's dirty."
The moment I turned around, Parker suddenly yelled at me.
"Stop right there, you little bastard!"
I paused and slowly turned around.
"What? Parker still plans to keep me for dinner?"
He gave me a sinister smile and whispered something into Victoria's ear.
The next second, the daughter of the richest man in Metropolis City was furious.
"Mr. Stone, how dare you snatch something from me?"
From the assistant's expression, I roughly guessed that he must have said a lot of bad things about me in front of Mrs. Vanderbilt.
Judging from Victoria's attitude towards me just now, I knew that it would be useless to explain any more, so I simply didn't bother to waste my breath.
"Yes, I do like that necklace, so what?"
Victoria didn't seem to expect that I would dare to admit it to her face, and her eyes were a little surprised.
"Okay, okay, today I will let you know the consequences of offending the Vanderbilt Family!"
After saying that, she raised the sign in her hand without hesitation.
“Light the sky lantern!”
As soon as the words fell, the host immediately raised the microphone and shouted to the audience:
"The starting price for this collection is 10 million. Is there anyone bidding higher?"
Anyone who has participated in an auction knows that once you light a sky lantern, there is no turning back: either stick with it to the end or declare bankruptcy.
Since the Vanderbilt Family is willing to bet the entire family for a small assistant, I might as well play with her.
"Ten million, right? I'll follow!"
As soon as these words were spoken, there was an uproar at the scene.
I could tell from everyone's facial expressions that most of them were waiting to laugh at me.
After all, no one present knew my true identity.
"You little brat, do you even know how much 10 million is? How dare you follow me?"
"This is an auction, not the vegetable market downstairs from your house."
When assistant Parker saw me confronting his boss, he looked gloating.
"Don't blame me for not reminding you. If you can't come up with the money by then, you'll go to jail!"
I looked up and smiled at him.
"Parker, you don't need to worry about whether I have money or not. I advise you to pay more attention to your boss."
"There is no turning back from this kind of sky lantern-lighting game."
After hearing what I said, Mrs. Vanderbilt snorted and raised the sign in her hand again.
"It's only 10 million. My dad gives me more than that in pocket money every month!"
As she said this, she turned and looked at me, her eyes full of provocation.
"Don't you like to follow me? Today I want to see if you have the strength to go against the Vanderbilt Family!"
"I'll add another 10 million, a total of 20 million!"
Following Mrs. Victoria's roar, the whole place suddenly exploded.
You have to know that today is just a charity auction. Although the items on site are not bad, they are far from reaching the tens of millions level.
