Chapter 3
“But you have to know that I am your elder and this is the only relationship between us, do you understand?”
I felt bitter in my heart. It turned out that he had seen my feelings for him a long time ago, so was this a warning to me?
I took the phone and sure enough, there were dozens of missed calls.
“I was just sleeping too deeply and didn’t hear it. I didn’t mean to not answer it.”
Jamie sneered, “Do you think I will believe it? Look, it’s noon now. Who would still be asleep? And since that time, we agreed that we would never not answer each other’s calls. You knew how anxious I would be if I couldn’t get through to you. Have you forgotten?”
Three years ago, my classmates and I went to the cinema to watch a movie. My phone was muted. Jamie, who was already on the plane, couldn’t get through to me, so he threatened to fly back to the city, causing a lot of trouble.
When he saw me in the cinema, he was so scared that he trembled all over. He hugged me tightly in his arms and his eyes were wet.
“Georgia, don’t not answer my calls in the future, otherwise I will go crazy.” It was also at that time that I had a crush on him like a young girl in love.
After experiencing his madness, no matter where I was, my phone was always fully charged. After all, I answered his calls in seconds, just to prevent him from worrying. “I really overslept and didn’t hear the call. It wasn’t intentional, Uncle Jamie.”
After hearing my address, he froze and the look in his eyes when he looked at me had an emotion I couldn’t see clearly.
“Why did you suddenly call me that?”
Facing his deep gaze, I tried to suppress my emotions and raised a smile. “Is there anything wrong with calling me that? You are my uncle.”
He opened his mouth and looked at me deeply, his tone full of anxiety and impatience.
“Whatever you want. For you, I left Lane alone at the venue. You should pack up now and come with me and apologize to her by the way. I don’t know what will happen if I leave you alone at home.”
I wanted to refuse, but I shut up when I saw his eyes.
I was just a burden to him. He was just my father’s sworn brother, but he had raised me for ten years in vain. Maybe I shouldn’t embarrass him anymore.
“Okay.”
Seeing that I agreed, he breathed a sigh of relief, but was stunned when he saw me go out and get in the car.
“Why are you so pale?”
I was surprised that he finally noticed my abnormality. Just when I was about to explain, he spoke again in an impatient tone. “Did you deliberately make yourself look like this just to attract my attention? Georgia, you…”
Suddenly, my throat began to feel bitter. No matter how much I explained, it would only make me ridiculous.
“I just forgot to put on lipstick, sorry.”
He looked at me inquiringly and then his cell phone suddenly rang. He glanced at the phone and his whole breath became much gentler.
“Jamie, why haven’t you come back yet? I’m so scared alone. Just now, a few people wanted to force me to drink, I…”
Jamie’s breath suddenly became cold and he nervously comforted her, then suddenly started the car.
“Wait for me, I’ll be there soon.”
The car’s speed reached 180 miles per hour. Before I could fasten my seat belt, my head hit the car in front of me. I groaned in pain. Just when I wanted him to slow down, he frowned and looked at me.
“Did you hear Lane was in danger and you deliberately bumped into her to get my attention? Lane is very scared now. I need to rush over as soon as possible. Can you please stop playing tricks?”
Chapter 4
His disgusted eyes once again made my heart bleed. The words I wanted to say were stuck in my throat. My eyes were blurry. I pretended to be calm and pressed my back against the seat. I closed my eyes and trembled all over. I bit my lips tightly. Even if I smelled blood, I insisted on not making a sound.
It seemed that he really forgot the agreement with me.
At that time, I had just been picked up not long before. Because of him, I encountered his kidnapping of my family. I was trapped in the car, which was speeding fast and was finally forced to stop. However, the car also overturned. I was thrown to the head, legs and arms. When I saw Jamie, I cried out of breath.
He protected me for a week before I recovered from the shock, but he also suffered from stress disorder. As long as the speed exceeded 60 miles per hour, I would feel dizzy and nauseous and tremble all over.
But from then on, as long as I was in the car, Jamie’s speed never exceeded 50 miles per hour.
The car finally stopped. I staggered out of the car in a panic. My face was as pale as a ghost. As soon as I landed, I lay down beside the flower bed and began to vomit. I almost vomited bile and then I felt better.
But when I looked up, there was no trace of Jamie. He probably forgot that I was still there.
As soon as I walked into the banquet hall, I saw Jamie carefully coaxing Lane. His attitude was rare and patient. My heart seemed to be torn apart. I didn’t want to watch it anymore. I turned around and wanted to find a quiet corner to stay, but was stopped by Jamie.
“Georgia, come here and apologize. Because you tricked me back to see you, Lane was frightened. You apologize.”
I smiled bitterly in my heart. Forget it. Before leaving, I should be more compliant with his wishes. “I’m sorry, I won’t do it again.”
Jamie looked at me in a daze. It was a bit incredible, because although I was good-tempered and sensible, I was also proud of myself in the years of being spoiled by him. I never said sorry easily, but this time I said it obediently.
At this time, Lane, in his arms, smiled and said, “Since Georgia wants to apologize, I was forced to drink three glasses of wine because of you just now. As long as you drink three glasses of wine now, I will forgive you.”
But I just had a miscarriage and the doctor said I couldn’t drink. I refused, “Change to something else, I can’t drink.”
Lane’s eyes were instantly wet and tears fell and her tone was very aggrieved. “It turns out that your apology is just talk. I know I am just a little secretary and don’t deserve your apology. You never look down on me. Then I’m leaving…”
She was about to leave in a coquettish manner, but Jamie held her in his arms. “Be good, who said you don’t deserve it? I’ll let her drink to apologize to you.”
Then he waved his hand and someone immediately brought three glasses of strong liquor.
Jamie looked at me with an unyielding gaze. “Drink it and apologize, otherwise it will be more than three cups.”
I covered my stomach and opened my mouth to explain, “I really feel unwell and can’t drink.”
“Enough!” Jamie looked at me angrily. “Just now at home, you said you felt unwell and deliberately painted your face so pale. Now you are still lying. Georgia, you disappoint me so much. You drink it yourself, or I do it. It’s your choice.”
Looking at the smugness in Lane’s eyes, I smiled bitterly, picked up the three cups of wine on the tray and drank them all. The bitter and spicy liquor just entered my throat and it burned me all over. My stomach felt like it was burned by a raging fire and I wished I could die immediately.
I tried to force a smile. “Can I leave now?”
“I was just joking. If you don’t want to drink, you can just say it directly. It’s like I’m forcing you.”
Chapter 5
Lane spoke aggrievedly. Jamie glanced at me indifferently. “Why are you still staying here? It will only make Lane angry.”
I covered my stomach and turned to leave, but I couldn’t hold on any longer and I just walked out of the hotel door and fainted on the ground.
“Oh my God, her skirt is all blood.”
When I opened my eyes again, I was in a hospital bed.
The doctor sighed. “You just had a miscarriage and your body is still weak. How can you drink? Rest well now, otherwise your body will be broken at such a young age.”
I nodded and thanked the doctor.
Rest well in the hospital before leaving. As soon as I closed my eyes to rest, my cell phone rang. It was my aunt’s call.
“Georgia, have you bought your plane ticket? When are you coming? I’ll pick you up. Jamie has taken care of you for so many years. Did he really not say anything about you suddenly coming to live with me?”
He should be eager to get rid of me as a burden as soon as possible.
“Well, I am not a child anymore. It is not good for him to live with me. It is good for him and me to leave. Auntie, don’t worry. The plane ticket has been bought. We can leave tomorrow.”
“Georgia, what plane ticket? Where are you going?”
I looked up. It was Jamie. He was staring at me nervously. I hung up the phone immediately and found a random excuse.
“My classmate asked me to book her a flight ticket. She said she wanted to go abroad.”
Jamie breathed a sigh of relief and frowned at me. “I heard that you were sent to an ambulance at the banquet. What happened?”
It turned out that he didn’t know yet. I was just trying to find a reason when Lane walked in from outside the door.
“Georgia just had a few glasses of wine. I was just joking. How could you deliberately be hospitalized because of a few glasses of wine and make Jamie worry? Do you know that he just had a very important cooperation, which was delayed because of this matter?”
She continued, “It’s just a few glasses of white water mixed with a little wine. How could you be hospitalized? Are you doing this to deliberately wrong me?”
After she finished speaking, she shed a few tears of grievance. Jamie was angry when he heard it. “So you are pretending to be sick. It seems that I have been too indulgent to you over the years and made you forget your identity.”
He continued, “From today, I will stop all your cards. I don’t know how you can pretend to be sick and be hospitalized without money.”
After speaking, he left without looking back. Lane sneered at me, “Georgia, you are a slut. You even had an abortion for Jamie, but he still disdains you. You got pregnant that night, right? I was planning to have it myself, but you got it first. But so what? He is mine now.”
I widened my eyes in shock. I didn’t expect that she knew everything. She smiled sarcastically. “If you don’t want to be completely hated by him, get out of here.”
Could it be that she drugged me? But it didn’t matter now. Jamie had chosen her.
The card was suspended and I couldn’t stay in the hospital. I had to go home. I didn’t even have money to take a taxi. When I walked home, my legs were still shaking.
Jamie was not at home. I quickly packed a few clothes and threw away the things I didn’t want.
Thinking that I still had to tell him, I called him. The call was quickly connected, but it was not his voice that came out.
“Jamie, you said you would accompany me all night tonight, so you must behave well. I have prepared a big surprise for you, ah, no, why are you so excited, too hard…”
Then there was Lane’s panting and I hung up the phone in a panic.
The next day, I boarded a plane to Abadon and left Jamie, never to be seen again.
