Chapter 2

Lycia’s POV

I almost laughed hollowly. Who needs forgiveness from him? I think he’s the one who should be begging for mercy.

“After all, she’s your twin sister.” His words crept coldly into my wolf. “Don’t act like a child. You're Luna now. An adult. Irene isn’t to blame. Today is your birthday too, but she deserves it more.”

I stared at him for a long time. Searching for the remnants of the bond we once shared. The brown eyes I once loved so much now felt foreign.

“You’re joking, right?” I laughed hollowly. “I mean, you chose to celebrate another female wolf's birthday instead of your mate’s?”

“Yes,” he replied without hesitation. “Because you’re a rebel. Irene is innocent.”

I clapped my hands. “Wow, my wolf is now wondering—is this still the man who chased me for five years with his obsession?”

He fell silent. Beginning to realize my words.

“You’ve changed. Or maybe you never truly loved me.” My emotions overflowed.

"Be honest, did you just use me as a temporary replacement when you were bored?"

My heart ached seeing him silent, as if what I said was true. Tears streamed down my face.

And Ravien saw it—felt our connection. His face softened, briefly showing regret.

“Lycia, don’t cry—”

But his words were cut off by a scream outside the car. That voice… Irene.

Ravien’s face panicked. In an instant, he pushed open the door and ran. Leaving me behind so easily. Without a second thought.

“What’s wrong, Irene?”

“I stepped on a rock. My foot got caught.”

Always careless and weak.

Through the glass, I laughed—a small, bitter laugh. But what hurt more was his reaction. Ravien held her like a precious porcelain figurine. Lifting her body frantically.

“You can't get hurt. Your party tonight.”

Then, in his arms, Irene turned her head. A small smile curved on her lips—not sweet, but mocking.

I wanted to vomit. To disappear.

Once, I trusted them. Now, the two wolf I relied on most had stabbed me deepest.

I went my room. Packed everything. Wanted to throw away everything Ravien had given me. But one thing I couldn’t delay: the moon necklace Ravien had gently placed around my neck, kissing me softly above the engraved stone of love.

The moment I once considered the most memorable—he swore he’d give me a gift when I was pregnant, a trip to my favorite place.

Now, just thinking about it makes my heart burn.

That’s why I’ll bring it to Irene's party tonight. To throw it into the sea.

And night came sooner than expected. Irene's party was held on a luxurious ship. Lights. Elite decorations. Everything truly amazed me. But something else stopped me in my tracks.

A large, tiered birthday cake—my favorite pink color with expensive carvings. I heard my parents prepared everything.

This should have been my birthday too. We’re twins. But I didn’t see any of the wolves caring about that. Everything was for Irene. I’m used to not celebrating. But seeing the cake with “Celebrate Irene’s Sweet Birthday” written on it, I felt weak.

My wolf howled. “We’ve always wanted a cake since we were little. But Mom and Dad never cared. Now look at Selena, who always gets a birthday cake every year, and this is the best one yet.”

I closed my eyes, trying to calm my wolf so it wouldn’t rage at the party. Because it wouldn’t matter.

“Happy birthday, twin sister.” Irene’s sweet voice crept in from behind. Poison in every word.

I turned. Stared at her without feeling.

“Why does the party feel like it's just mine?” She laughed softly, then spun around, showing off herself. “What about my dress, my face?”

Honestly, she was stunning. I couldn't lie; all the wolves had worked hard to make her shine tonight. While I stood in my plain dress—one I bought myself.

I didn’t answer. There were no words for Irene. I walked past her. But my steps were halted by a loud noise. Irene’s scream.

I turned around immediately.

A large cake had crashed to the floor—cream was smeared all over Irene’s dress. She was crying.

All the wolves scattered.

Ravien was the first to reach her.

“Irene! What happened?! Your dress... the cake!”

With tears streaming down her face, Irene pointed at me. “Lycia wanted her name written on the cake too.” Her face was innocent and pitiful. “So she pushed me toward the cake.”

My eyes widened.

“Excuse me?” I shook my head. “I didn't even do anything, please!”

But no wolf was listening.

An omega said softly, "Earlier, I also saw Luna Lycia staring at her cake for a long time."

The wolves' gazes began to shift. They were cornering me.

And Ravien... his eyes darkened. His breath was heavy. His wolf aura rose, wild and boiling.

His steps thundered closer—toward me.

“I told you to stop acting like a child, Lycia!” he barked, his voice echoing before the entire wolf pack. “You've ruined the party twice!”

I stood frozen, unsure of what sin I had committed this time. But it felt as though I had burned down the entire party, dragged and humiliated. As though I wasn't Luna. Not anyone.

Trembling, I tried to explain the truth, “It wasn't me,” hoping someone—or even one wolf—would believe me.

But no wolf did.

Even as my tears fell and I tried to connect my wolf's heart with Ravien's—he rejected it. Cut it off. Sealed the bridge of our bond without a word.

His face was cold. Untouchable.

“I think yesterday's incident was lesson enough,” he muttered sharply, while Irene’s whiny cries grew louder. “This party was prepared entirely by the pack. But you? You chose to ruin it.”

His hand gripped my arm.

I was shocked. But I couldn't fight back. His strength was unmatched. “Alpha, you've known me for five years. There's no way I would do something sneaky!”

He dragged me to the outer deck. I was panicking. The pack followed and surrounded us.

“After this, learn your lesson!”

And without mercy—he pushed me. My body was thrown into the cold, dark sea.

The water swallowed my body, and I shivered in silence. I couldn't swim. But no one wolf cared.

From the surface of the water, I saw them—my parents coming. There was no worry on their faces, only annoyance. “She never stops causing trouble.”

I thought I still had a chance to ask for their love. At least they didn’t want to see me die. “Dad, Mom! You guys know I can’t swim!”

But I was wrong. They ignored me. My father’s hands were busy fixing Irene’s hair, which had been covered in cake frosting, while my mother lovingly cleaned her dress.

“Your party will be fine, Irene,” Alpha Ravien said before all the wolves left me alone.

My wolf weakening. But there was something more painful than the water filling my lungs—the cramps in my stomach. The pain was burning.

The world spun slowly. Then everything went dark. My consciousness collapsed along with my last hope.

Chapter 3

Lycia’s POV

I awoke in the pack’s healing den. After being rescued by my trusted omega and brought to the edge.

White ceilings and the scent of herbs greeted me. But that wasn’t the first thing I felt.

My stomach.

Piercing pain, not just a regular wound. Then the memory hit me clearly.

I was pregnant. Three months. The little wolf cub of Alpha Ravien.

I had kept it a secret from him. As a surprise that no longer mattered. After the kidnapping, the healer had said my fetus was still alive—though weak. But now…

This pain was different. And my heart knew. Fear consumed me entirely.

Until the healer came to my room.

“You’re awake, Luna?” Her voice was gentle, but her eyes couldn’t hide the sorrow. “Your wolf’s condition is extremely weak due to the water that entered your body.”

She paused briefly. Her breath was heavy. “I’m sorry… the wolf cub didn’t survive.”

The world collapsed in silence.

I didn't scream.

But my tears fell instantly—unable to stop them. My heart shattered into pieces.

That child... the only part of Alpha Ravien that didn't hurt me. I had dreamed of becoming a mother for five years. The only thing that kept me going even as the world rejected me.

And even now, it was taken from me. Not by fate. But by Ravien himself. He was the one who pushed me into the sea.

My body trembled, even my wolf had gone numb.

This betrayal was too deep.

I wonder if the bond between me and Alpha Ravien still exists—just to make sure he feels my pain too. But an omega said he’s still busy celebrating Irene’s birthday party. My parents too.

Moon goddess, what kind of painful fate is this?

Enough. That’s the last time I’ll let them touch my conscience.

A few days after recovering, when my body was strong enough to stand, I left. I walked along the quiet path toward the oldest legal advisor’s house.

Elder Seraphine looked at me as I entered. She had the ability to read souls, to sense the wounds of a wolf who had recently lost someone. But she waited until I spoke first.

“I want to sever my bond with Alpha Ravien,” I said softly but firmly. “And remove my name from the Drakara Pack's lineage.”

Seraphine bowed her head slowly.

“Living without a pack... means living without protection. You'll automatically lose everything. Bonds, family name, honor.”

“That's the point,” my voice trembled. Not out of fear. But remembering all the betrayals that had occurred. “I don't want to think twice.”

Not after everything had been so torturous.

Elder Seraphine said nothing more. She simply nodded, respecting my decision. Then she began the ritual.

As our bond was severed, my body felt as though it were being torn apart from within.

My spine felt like it was being forcibly pulled, the pain piercing my chest, and my head throbbing as if invisible claws were tearing it apart.

The wolf within me roared again—not because it had lost its mate, but because it had been released from the chains that had long tormented it.

I collapsed onto the stone floor, cold sweat soaking my back.

Elder Seraphine stared at me without saying a word. She knew the pain would only last a moment. What tormented longer were the memories.

When I stood up, I felt lighter. The air in my lungs felt foreign—but fresh. More free. Like the first time I lived.

As I exited the legal advisor’s house, an Omega rushed over, handing me a scroll. “Luna, I finally found you.”

I looked at him warily. “Don’t tell anyone you saw me here.”

“Alright, Luna.”

I quickly read the letter.

From my father.

[Do you always not know how to come home? We heard you left the healing room but didn’t return to the pack. Stop acting like you’re still a little wolf. There’s something we need to discuss. Come home immediately if you don’t want your name struck from the Drakara pack.]

I chuckled. Bitterly.

Father, you're too late. You all threaten me with that excuse too often. As if you truly want me to leave. Now, I've made it happen myself.

My father's words still pierce my soul. Deeply. But I calmly relayed the message to the omega.

“Tell them I'll be back soon.”

The omega nodded respectfully, then left.

The sky began to darken as I stood at the end of the rocky path.

Only three days remained before Louis came to pick me up and take me away from the Drakara pack. It was enough time to settle everything.

I would endure it with them. Pack my belongings and arrange my final smile.

I thought I wouldn't bring anything. But my steps faltered as memories of the past slowly crept back.

After Irene disappeared, I suddenly became the beloved child. I was considered her replacement. Suddenly I was hugged, praised, and considered valuable. And I... I accepted it all. Because at that time I was still hungry for affection.

What I remember most: that night of the snowstorm.

My body was trembling when I was found. And my mother—who was usually cold—ran through the hailstorm, hugging me as if afraid of losing me. She cried, wrapped me in a woolen blanket, kissed my forehead with fear.

“Don’t leave us…”

That was when I felt loved. Maybe the only time. Because after Irene returned, everything went back to normal. I was neglected. Losing everything, including Ravien, who betrayed me.

I held the bracelet in my hand. The pale blue gemstone was from when I worked as a teenager. It was the only thing of value.

Thinking of my parents, my heart felt strange. Not longing. But... a kind of respect. For the version of them who once loved me.

I sold the bracelet. And with the money, I bought a small gift—not expensive. But enough.

Not because they deserved it…

But because I needed to close this chapter peacefully.

A final memory of the daughter who was no longer wanted.

Because after this, they will never find me again.

Chapter 4

Lycia’s POV

I arrived at the pack house with two bags full of gifts.

And there they were. Irene, dressed in a thin dress that wasn’t even appropriate for the living room. Leaning lazily against Ravien's chest. As if nothing wrong had happened.

I should have been jealous. Angry. But this time, I felt empty. Maybe because I had been hurt too many times.

Ravien stood up hurriedly when he saw me. His face was pale with panic. Meanwhile, Irene just smiled, like a winner greeting her opponent's defeat.

I didn't speak. Just walked past them. Both of them were surprised by my reaction.

“Lycia, wait!”

Ravien grabbed my arm quickly.

I just turned my head.

“Yesterday I wanted to visit you,” he said hurriedly. “But suddenly Irene got sick. And your parents wanted me to take care of her.”

My expression didn’t change at all. Flat. Unmoved even when those brown eyes looked at me with a hint of regret.

He must have sensed something different in me. A foreign feeling he couldn’t understand. He kept trying. But failed.

“My twin sister, it’s not what you think.” Irene approached us. Putting on her innocent face.

“Irene is right. Stop misunderstanding and running away!” Alpha Ravien chimed in.

Irene nodded again. With a small smirk. “Yes, we didn't do anything. Believe us.”

Her words contradicted her hands, which were moving. Tying her hair up high. Revealing the bite marks on neck. A sign of ownership.

She wanted to see me broken. But she only got the calmness she couldn't provoke. “Yes. Whatever.”

That's all I said before turning around and walking away.

“Lycia!”

My father’s voice cut through the air. Sharp and cold. I turned around. He stood at the threshold of the main hall, his face flushed red.

I clutched the small boxes containing the gifts tightly. Rare wool chosen for my father, a special dress for my mother. Their favorite food.

But before I could speak, a hard slap struck my face.

The gifts scattered across the floor.

“Did you intentionally hurt yourself to punish Ravien so he could feel the pain?” my father, Alec, shouted.

And I remained silent.

“How dare you!” Emma, my mother, joined in. “Alpha Ravien nearly died because of you! What were you doing outside the pack earlier?”

Of course, they didn’t know.

That’s because our bond had been severed. But I wouldn’t tell them.

I bent down, picking up the gifts. “I bought some gifts for you all.”

My father swatted my hand away. “Omega! Throw all this trash away!”

Without looking, without touching—they rejected me completely.

Then Mother spoke—words that shattered what little defense I had left. “Sometimes I regret giving birth to you.”

I froze. And it made no difference. I had always faced their anger. Even though it wasn't my fault.

“Can’t you just sit quietly like your twin sister does?” My mother’s voice was filled with frustration. “I’m tired of seeing you cause trouble!”

My breath caught. Mother. I loved her. But she… said words I never imagined she would. Tears fell.

And just then, I felt Ravien approach. “I'm okay.” He gripped my arm. “I think I need to talk to her.”

He took me away—to our room. Now it felt like a cold room filled with painful memories.

I sat on the edge of the bed, silent.

Ravien stood before me, staring at me as if choosing his words.

“Your parents were right. Earlier, my body was in so much pain.” He explained gently. But he seemed frustrated that I remained silent. “Luna, can't we just be okay like before? You now resemble a walking statue.”

I almost laughed. “You wanted everything to be okay after all the chaos that had happened?”

“This is all because of you! Even my pain earlier, you are the source of chaos!” He shouted in disgust.

“I want to sleep,” I said coldly. “You, take care of Irene as usual.”

He was about to protest, but I quickly lay down on the bed. His wolf seemed angry before left the room.

I sat back down. My parents' words were still clear in my mind. But I ignored them and started packing. I only took a few important items I had stored in my private closet so Alpha Ravien wouldn't find them.

I gathered the items from him. It was time to dispose of everything. I even opened the necklace I hadn't had time to throw into the sea.

I carried the box containing those items to the backyard. The fire was burning brightly.

“Lycia, what's that smell?” Alpha Ravien's voice sounded sharp. “Fire. What are you burning?”

His face changed when he saw the contents of the box I was holding. The gifts from him—all of them meaningful. Especially that moon necklace.

“Isn't it enough that you almost killed me earlier?” His voice rose an octave, his anger beginning to creep in. “I won't ask what happened to you, but stop this drama! Give me those things!”

My hands remained tightly clutching the box. “Why should I?” my voice was flat.

He stared at me, surprised by my calmness. But his eyes began to burn. There was a wound there—but not from loss, but from his ego being torn apart.

“That moon necklace…” his voice dropped. “It was given to you at your first dream location. You mustn’t forget that.”

I laughed briefly, hollowly. “And you also must not forget that you took Irene to all the places you promised me. You fulfilled my dream for another wolf. That means—nothing matters anymore.”

Ravien’s face changed. Guilt and anger collided in his eyes. But he still tried to defend himself. “It’s because I was angry at you. You ruined the party—”

“Enough about the past.” My tone was firm.

I walked toward the fire and began throwing the items from the box one by one. Letting him watch as they turned to ash.

When I lifted the moon necklace, Ravien’s hand gripped my wrist.

“Let go!” I shouted, angry.

His grip tightened. The wolf within him emerged. The vibrations from his Alpha power made the air seem to tighten, the ground trembling slightly.

But I didn’t flinch. I was a wolf too. And tonight, I was a wound that wouldn’t be conquered.

We held each other in place.

“Lycia?”

A soft voice—piercing from behind.

Irene stood in the doorway. Her expression feigned confusion. Her eyes shifted from us to the flames.

“What are you doing…?”

Neither of us answered.

And at that moment, Ravien’s emotional outburst reached its peak.

The force of it sent me flying backward. My body stumbled toward the flames.

But unfortunately, Irene was right behind me. Too close. She couldn’t dodge.

We both fell into the flames together.

My body absorbed some of the heat for her, but Irene screamed. Her scream pierced the air. Her hands were partially burned.

After You Chose Her, I Freed Myself, Alpha!
