Chapter 1 of After Winning 220 Million, My Wife Divorced Me

My wife, who had been married to me for two years, divorced me.

We had been married for two years but my wife divorced me because I didn’t make her breakfast.

In the next week after the divorce, she got married to someone else and sent me an invitation.

At the wedding, she stood next to my former boss, with a mocking look in her eyes.

“Jacob Morris, after being married to you for so many years, you can't even afford a Hermes bag. You are not a man.”

My former boss arrogantly put his arm around her waist, revealing his yellow teeth.

“I'm really sorry, Jacob. Thank you for raising my woman for a year.”

What they didn't know was that I won 40 million in the lottery in the week before my divorce.

——

When Nina Collins asked for a divorce, it was only a week before our second anniversary.

She sat across from me, with a cold look on her face.

“Jacob, let's part on good terms.”

I was confused by the woman in front of me, who had been married to me for two years and still looked as beautiful as ever.

“Why, Nina? Have I not been good enough to you? Or is it because I've been too busy with work lately and neglected you? I can explain, I...”

“You don't have to say anything more. I don’t want to say anything hurtful.”

Nina interrupted me impatiently and kept looking at her phone.

Nina and I started dating in college.

She was my classmate, and when we first started school, Nina was often bullied because she came from a rural area and didn't like to talk. As the class monitor and a member of the student council, I always stood up for her.

Over time, our relationship developed.

At the end of the first term of our freshman year, Nina found me the day before the holiday and confessed her feelings to me. We naturally got together.

During our four years at university, we hardly ever had a fight.

Nina was gentle and always relied on me. I was happy to solve her problems in life and study for her.

Shortly after graduation, we got married. It had been two years.

When we just graduated, Nina went to work. But she was bullied by her colleagues at work, and she seldom put on a smile. I felt so heartbroken for her.

So later on, I let Nina quit her job and stay at home.

Although it was a little difficult to support the family by myself, I think it was worth it when I saw Nina’s smile.

I thought my life would continue like this, but I didn't expect Nina to ask for a divorce.

"Okay, I've finished talking. I'll be waiting for you at the courthouse tomorrow morning. Don't be late."

Nina said as she stood up and got ready to leave. After two years of living together, she only took a small suitcase with her.

I immediately stood up and grabbed Nina's wrist.

I couldn’t bear her leaving me after six years of love.

"Nina! I can’t believe it! Why did you divorce me?"

She struggled to free herself from my grip, and in the process, a hotel room card fell out of Nina's coat pocket.

Instinctively, I bent down to pick it up, but froze when I saw the name of the hotel on the card.

It was the most expensive five-star hotel in our city and we couldn't afford it.

I suddenly came up with a ridiculous but undeniable thought.

My body even shook with anger and pain.

Nina picked up the card before me.

"Who gave it to you?"

My voice echoed in the silent living room, trembling with nervousness.

Nina paused for a moment, then a mocking smile appeared on her face.

“What does that have to do with you, Jacob? If you can't give me what I want, there are plenty of people who can.”

“Don't blame me for being heartless. Look at yourself. You've been working for two years and had no progress. You are so useless.”

“When we were at college, I thought you could achieve something with your good grades and eloquence. But you're a failure in the workplace.”

“I'm unlucky to have wasted six years of my youth with you.”

After Nina finished speaking, she directly let go of my hand. As if she had touched some bacteria, she wiped her sleeves. With a snort, she opened the door and left.

I lowered my head and took out the lottery ticket that had not been redeemed from my pocket.

Originally, I wanted to surprise her on our anniversary.
