Chapter 2
Adrian and Ace, hand in hand, appeared in the villa's living room. Ace had exquisite makeup and was dressed elegantly, forming a sharp contrast with my disheveled appearance.
Standing there, I almost believed they were the truly loving couple.
The marital home that Adrian and I had decorated together, with the modern Chinese style I liked, was completely replaced with the European style that Ace preferred.
She now carried herself as the mistress of the house.
"Ace hasn't been feeling well, so I let her stay here for now."
Adrian made an effort to explain, but it didn't matter to me anymore.
I didn't care how long she stayed, nor did I care about the affection between Adrian and her.
I'm here today to take back what I used to have here.
As for what would happen to them in the future, it had nothing to do with me.
I told myself over and over again in my heart, but my heart felt as if there was a big stone pressing down on it, heavy and deep.
"Emma, you just got out of prison today. Both Adrian and I are very happy."
Ace walked over, trying to take my hand, but I shook her off.
Her eyes instantly turned red, and she was at a loss, which made people feel pitiful.
"Emma, I'm sorry. The things were accidentally thrown away by the workers during the renovation. I searched the trash cans for a long time but couldn't find them."
"Who gave you permission to touch my things?"
My crisp voice echoed in the living room. Ace covered her face, looking at me in disbelief.
Adrian quickly pushed me away, shielding the pitiful Ace.
"Enough, Emma. Ace has already apologized to you. Stop making unreasonable trouble."
Unreasonable trouble? Me?
She stole my fiance.
Throw away my things,
Give me the fingerprints of my wedding room.
After suppressing my emotions for a long time, I finally lost control. I swept away everything on the table. The vase was pushed over, and the sound of porcelain breaking resounded throughout the hall.
Adrian held me as I broke down, not forgetting to have the housekeeper help Ace upstairs.
Adrian, did you so afraid I'll hurt her?
But I was the one who was really hurt.
Adrian pulled me into his room, using the same hand he just held Ace with.
He threw me against the wall, and the pain brought visions of him holding Ace so carefully to my mind.
"Emma, stop it. Don't you want to get married? I'll compensate you. I can marry you."
"Even though you were in prison for three years, I'll still be the one to marry you."
I laughed when I heard that, but my tears kept flowing.
I tried my best to push him away.
"Adrian, what makes you think I would want to marry you now?"
"I don't want to see you again. I'm here today to take back what I used to have."
Adrian looked stunned for a few seconds. I had always appeared gentle before him, never speaking to him in such a tone.
I walked straight out, but Adrian quickly caught up.
Before I could turn back, he had already pinned me tightly in his arms.
His tone was slightly angry.
"Emma, only I can say we're breaking up. We will get married."
"I will explain to the media that you and Ace are best friends. You went to prison three years ago to protect her, accidentally killing someone. This way, you'll appear in the public eye positively."
Looking around at the European-style decorations Ace preferred, I muttered,
"Adrian, your company is expanding its financing, right?"
Before I went to prison, Adrian was already known as a business prodigy.
Now, he was just one step away from becoming a top figure in Riverley.
My positive image in the public eye would benefit him and his company.
The devoted Mr. Andrews waited for his fiancée who went to prison in 3 years, how touching.
"Adrian, did you ever think about your beloved Ace when you decided to marry me?"
"I'll arrange it."
As soon as Adrian's voice fell, we heard the sound of a plate dropping outside the door.
Ace said, "I thought of bringing you some milk to help you sleep. I didn't mean to eavesdrop."
"Adrian, are you going to abandon me?"
Adrian carefully supported the almost fainting Ace and gently said,
"I'll take you back to your room."
I heard Ace's intermittent crying and Adrian's comforting words from her room and couldn't help but cover my ears.
Why didn't I notice before that this house had such poor sound insulation.
"Adrian, I'm pregnant with your child."
I couldn't help but smirk. If I remember correctly, three years ago, Adrian's premarital examination report stated infertile.
Chapter 3
When Adrian returned, he found his room completely trashed by me.
He hugged me from behind like a madman, shouting my name passionately and forcibly occupying me.
I stared at the ceiling in despair, thinking that with Ace being unwell, he must have mistaken me for her.
It was always like this. Every time he came back from Ace, he would violently make love to me, then use the gentlest tone to coax me, even doing things to please me.
Afterward, his tone softened, and there was even a trace of tenderness in his gaze.
He put a ring on my ring finger.
I looked at the glittering diamond ring on my ring finger and dropped my finger.
The diamond ring slipped to the floor.
Adrian's expression was stunned for two seconds.
"How can this be? This is the size of the wedding ring we picked out three years ago."
I scoffed, "The size is correct, but it's the size from three years ago."
In the three years I was in prison, Adrian never visited me once.
The Bailey family, having lost their son, naturally made sure I was well taken care of in prison.
The current me was withered. I was no longer the girl who was full of spiritual energy.
Adrian held me tighter.
"A wedding ring is just a ring, Emma. When we have time, we can pick out a better one."
A wedding ring symbolizes love and eternal commitment.
The wedding ring represents eternal love, and I will always love you.
But I don't love you anymore, Adrian. Why would I need a wedding ring?
When she woke up the next day, there was no one next to her.
The door was locked.
I pounded on the door with all my might. Again and again... until my wrist turned purple and blood dripped on the floor.
The doctor rushed in and bandaged my wound.
Seeing the doctor arrive on time, I was stunned. I looked around and saw the camera in the room.
In the afternoon, Adrian rushed back from the company to apply medicine to my wounds.
He gently untied the gauze on my hand, applied the medicine, and then bandaged it again.
"Emma, don't hurt yourself," Adrian said.
He had said this before when his company had just been established.
To secure a contract, I drank with clients until I had a stomach hemorrhage.
He ran to the hospital, his eyes full of pity.
"Emma, no matter what, don't hurt yourself."
I smiled at him, saying it was nothing, waving the contract I had just secured.
After he left, I tore off the bandage and washed away the ointment he had just applied.
Adrian took away my phone, saying my emotions were unstable and that it was for my safety that I had to stay here.
In reality, he was cutting off my contact with the outside world, completely imprisoning me here.
Adrian, you really would stop at nothing to make me give in.
While I was trapped in this room, Ace could come and go as she pleased.
She stood in front of me, looking like a winner.
"Emma, I heard Adrian is going to marry you. Congratulations. He said he doesn't want me to deal with social engagements, and you're just the right person for that."
I am indeed suitable.
Since the year Adrian founded his company, I was by his side.
I accompanied him to secure investments, recruit talent, and handle difficult clients, drinking until I had a stomach hemorrhage.
Finally, after three years, Adrian's company went public, and I went to prison.
I ignored Ace, but she wouldn't let it go.
"Emma, what makes you so high and mighty?"
"Don't you know? Three years ago, it was Adrian and I who set you up. How else could we get rid of you and kick you out of the company?"
