Chapter 2

Keep the child and make her his mother.

Kristie could never have imagined that the Stokes Family actually had this plan.

During these three years, she dreamed of having a child with Harvey, but it was definitely not the child of Harvey and other women.

Kristie hired a private detective and quickly found out the woman's background.

Susan Carey, the daughter of jewelry crafter Aron Carey, was Harvey's childhood sweetheart. But for some unknown reason, the two suddenly broke up, Susan went abroad alone, Harvey was heartbroken and finally married Kristie in just a short time.

The pile of information in her hand was nothing but the romantic things Harvey did for Susan.

At Susan's 18-year-old coming-of-age ceremony, Harvey lit a sky lantern and took a photo of the blue star in the sea, just to make her smile.

Susan liked to eat mousse cake. Regardless of his status, Harvey visited her private cake shop three times and learned how to make cake himself, just because she said it was delicious.

When Susan said, “I'm afraid of thunder.” Harvey took a private plane overnight during the thunderstorm just to be with her.

Kristie clearly remembered that on that rainy day, she suddenly developed gastroenteritis and she begged Harvey not to leave and to take her to the hospital.

She crawled on the ground in pain, pulling at Harvey's trouser legs, begging him desperately, so humble as to be in the dust.

“Kristie, gastroenteritis only hurts for a while, it won't kill you. I have more important things to do now. If I had been a step later, someone would have died.”

It turned out that this was what Harvey meant by ‘someone is going to die.’

Kristie felt desolate inside, her hands and feet were cold and tears fell one by one, blurring her vision and wetting the lines of words on the white paper.

She looked at the last page of the information, which showed Susan's current address.

Kristie no longer hesitated and drove there.

An hour later, Kristie arrived at the Repulse Bay Villa.

She originally felt that this address was inexplicably familiar and it was not until she saw the number on the house number that Kristie finally remembered it.

The house number 8 was the first property she and Harvey purchased together and it was of great significance.

And at that moment, Susan actually lived here.

Kristie sat in the car, trying to calm herself down.

The next second, the door of the villa opened and a man and a woman came out and walked towards the small flower hall in the yard.

The two were talking and laughing and the man carefully supported the woman, fearing that she would bump into something.

Kristie was shocked beyond words, her expression suddenly changed as if she had seen a ghost.

The woman was holding an eight or nine month old belly and it was undoubtedly Susan.

And that man, although she only caught a glimpse of his profile, Kristie would never forget his figure and appearance until her death.

Harvey, that man was Harvey!

It turned out that the story about him getting into a car accident to save her was fake and that he would become a vegetable for the rest of his life was also fake.

Holding the steering wheel tightly with both hands, Kristie was unaware of the blood on her nails and her eyes were fixed on the front.

Harvey and Susan were sitting in the small flower hall, the scene was very warm.

He cut the cake for her, he squatted down and pressed his body against Susan's belly, his smile was gentle, as if he had found a treasure.

Then what was she for him actually?

Kristie's heart felt like it was being cut into pieces by Harvey with a knife, it hurt so much.

For a moment, Kristie wanted to get out of the car and rush in to find out what was going on, but in the end, she just took a deep breath, turned on the monitoring software on her phone and adjusted the screen to the small flower hall.

Harvey did not know that she had installed surveillance cameras in Repulse Bay.

In Kristie's heart, Repulse Bay was the fruit of her and Harvey's love and career and she cherished it very much. Even though it was too far from the city center and inconvenient to travel and they had never lived there for a day, she still protected it well.

She never thought that this would become the place where Harvey kept his mistress.

This villa was even the common property of the couple.

In the picture, the conversation between the two people could be heard clearly.

“Harvey, do you think she would agree? After all, this is our child. Will she agree to your father's proposal?”

“Yes, the old man gave the shares to the first great-grandson of the Stokes Family. Kristie knows this better than anyone else,” Harvey nodded as he answered, “Now I am lying in bed in a vegetative state. Our child is the only trump card in her hand. She will not give the Stokes Group to others.”

Susan did not believe that anyone would be so stupid as to make wedding dresses for others. She still questioned again, “What if she doesn't want to leave the Stokes Family after getting the shares?”

Harvey reached out and scratched Susan's nose wing, his action was extremely intimate and his eyes were full of doting.

Kristie had never seen him like this before. It turned out that the eldest son of the Stokes Family was not ignorant of love and affection, but she, Kristie, had never been the one in his heart.

“Both Stokes Group and Romero's Company were interested in the project. After mediation, Romero's Company was willing to let it go. The only request made by the Romero Family was that someone should be present to Young Master Romero and marry him.”

Susan was stunned, “You mean an idiot Young Master, Christ Romero? My father asked me to marry him, but I did not want to, so I ran away abroad.

“Harvey, do you mean to let Kristie marry him? Will she agree?”

Harvey nodded without thinking and answered, “She will agree to it. She loves me so much. For me and to save Stokes Group for me, she will definitely agree to it.”

Susan smiled as she responded, “That's great, this way I don't have to marry that idiot and our child will be the heir to Stokes Group.”

“Yes, I promised you that after I cleaned up the mess in the Stokes Family, I would give you a grand wedding and a bright future," Harvey said and hugged Susan before finally kissing her.

Kristie trembled all over and threw her cell phone aside with a ‘bang.’

It turned out that all of this was planned by Harvey in advance and every step was just to make her a stepping stone to pave the way for their love.

Why?!

Kristie was an orphan with no one to rely on in this world, but she was not a fool or a puppet who could be bullied by others.

He could not suddenly ask her to marry the Young Master of the Romero Family, after all of this, there must be a condition before agreeing something, right?

Kristie calmed down, bent down to pick up the phone and called her assistant, “Sarah, draft a divorce agreement immediately. I want to divorce Harvey with a condition giving me 50% of the shares of Stokes Group.”

Stokes Group was the empire she and Harvey built together. So, if Kristie said wanted half of it, it was still fair.

Chapter 3

Kristie rushed straight to Frances's study with the divorce agreement.

Frances was a little surprised. He did not expect Kristie to be so tactful and directly give way to another woman.

However, Susan was a fool and he was more optimistic about Kristie, who was capable and was the undisputed eldest lady of the Stokes Family.

“I am always satisfied with you as my daughter-in-law.”

Kristie sneered and stated her purpose, “If Stokes fails to get the City A Project, its capital chain will be broken and Stokes Group will be nothing more than an empty shell.

“I am willing to marry the idiot Young Master of the Romero Family, but the prerequisite is that I want half of Stokes's shares.”

Frances just found it funny. He really underestimated his daughter-in-law.

After a while, Frances said, “Okay, divorce Harvey and leave the house. But before that, you have to replace Mavis by marrying into the Romero Family, so I promise I will still personally perform surgery on your grandmother."

It turned out that Frances originally wanted his daughter, Mavis Stokes, to marry into the Romero Family.

It was so sad. Kristie could never have imagined that Harvey would plot against her again for his sister.

“Also, I don't want a third person to know about your divorce from Harvey. At least for now, only you and I know about it.”

“Okay, I promise.” Kristie nodded in agreement without hesitation.

Twenty-five years ago, it was her grandmother who picked her up from the garbage dump, loved her, protected her and raised her. But six months ago, her grandmother suddenly developed a blood disease and had been relying on blood transfusions to survive ever since.

Her good father-in-law was the best hematologist in the world and Kristie begged him to perform surgery on her grandmother. However, Frances always had conditions.

In the past, Frances required Kristie to give birth to an heir, but that time he was only asking her to divorce his son.

How ridiculous!

Frances changed the content of the agreement on the spot. Seeing Kristie sign it readily, he was very satisfied.

“I will arrange the surgery in a month and then you can bring your grandmother. As for the man's signature on the agreement, don't worry, I will find a way.”

The Stokes Family was really a heartless person.

Kristie originally thought that in the Stokes Family, her father-in-law was the one who truly liked her, but she did not expect that Frances was the old fox.

“I'm not worried. I believe Harvey will wake up soon,” Kristie responded coldly, turned and left, her back looking stubborn and arrogant.

After leaving the Stokes Family’s old house, Kristie went straight to the suburban sanatorium where her grandmother lived.

When Kristie arrived at the sanatorium, her grandmother had just received a blood transfusion and was sleeping. She was pale and so emaciated that she was just skin and bones.

Her grandmother's illness could not wait any longer.

As long as Frances was willing to perform the surgery on her grandmother personally, Kristie was willing to leave the house and marry into the Romero Family instead.

The Romero Family was a wealthy family and if the only son was not an idiot, this marriage would never have been her turn as a second marriage for her.

Her grandmother needed to recuperate after the operation and her future life needed to be protected. Kristie believed that as long as she treated the Young Master of the Romero Family well, the Romero Family would never treat her and her grandmother unfairly.

“Grandma, you will recover soon and we can live a good life soon.”

Kristie held the old man's hand, tears quietly falling.

The mobile phone vibrated, there was a call coming in. Kristie wiped her tears and picked up the phone.

“Mrs. Stokes, Mr. Stokes has woken up. He has a lot to say to you. He wants to see you right away.”

Kristie did not expect that Harvey would ‘wake up’ so quickly. She raised the corners of her mouth and smiled contemptuously before answering, “Okay, I'll be right there.”

She wanted to see what Harvey wanted to say to her.

Chapter 4

In the VIP room of the hospital, Kristie stood at the door of the ward, hesitating.

Ever since Harvey got into trouble, she had been staying in that ward almost day and night, never leaving, praying day and night, hoping that God would appreciate her sincerity and let Harvey wake up.

But later she learnt if her sincerity was a joke.

When Kristie thought of all the ways Harvey had deceived her, she wanted to kill him, but she knew that it was not the right time.

After taking a deep breath, Kristie pushed the door open.

Harvey was sitting on the hospital bed. Even in his hospital gown, he looked handsome.

Hearing the sound, Harvey tilted his head and his gaze fell on Kristie. His eyes were calm and without any ripples.

“Where have you been? I want to drink tea. I'm not used to tea made by others!”

Always a condescending tone.

Was this the important thing?

Kristie just found it funny, but at the same time she felt sorry for her former self.

How ridiculous had she been during these three years? She actually thought that Harvey only drank the tea she made and only liked to eat the food she cooked and that it was a sign of his deep love for her.

She did not want to be so foolish anymore.

Kristie walked straight to Harvey, pulled a chair over and sat down.

“Is this what you wanted to tell me?” she asked.

Harvey was waiting for tea, not Kristie who was sitting still with her thick brows furrowed.

Just as he was about to lose his temper, Kristie interrupted him, “Harvey, won't you explain?”

Kristie took out a stack of information and threw it in front of Harvey. On top was a photo of Harvey accompanying Susan in and out of the hospital for prenatal checkups, which made her particularly aware of the situation.

With the evidence of cheating in front of him, Harvey's expression changed slightly, but the next second he just said lightly, “Since you know everything, I won't hide it from you. The shares in the old man's hands are ours.”

Kristie felt like a basin of ice water was poured over her head and she felt cold all over.

This was the explanation Harvey gave her after he ‘woke up?’

“Harvey, you are so shameless!”

Kristie did not want to stay any longer, so she got up and left.

The man's cold voice sounded behind her, “Kristie, you know in your heart that there is no love or affection in a family like ours. It's not good for you to fight side by side with me and stand at the top of the pyramid hand in hand like before.”

Kristie turned her back to Harvey, but tears still flowed down her face.

If she had not seen Harvey with Susan with her own eyes, perhaps she would have thought that it would be nice to be a couple with him.

She could foolishly continue to deceive herself that the slightest difference in Harvey's attitude towards her was love.

But not at that moment.

The phone dinged. It was a picture sent by Frances.

Kristie opened it and enlarged the picture.

Harvey had already signed his name on the divorce agreement.

His vision blurred for a moment and his right hand, which was holding the phone, trembled slightly.

No matter how Frances asked Harvey to sign, at this moment, Kristie's heart still ached so much that she almost died.

“Kristie, no matter what happens in the future, you will always be my Mrs. Stokes. Susan and the baby in her belly cannot threaten your position.”

Cannot threaten her position?

Kristie really wanted to ask Harvey, his body and heart were all on Susan, so was this not a threat?

But it did not matter at this moment.

Kristie looked down at Harvey's signature on the divorce agreement and smiled faintly. After another month of the divorce cooling-off period, when her grandmother had finished the surgery, she would take her grandmother away and stay away from Harvey and the entire Stokes Family.

Kristie also did not want to be disgusted by this couple again, so she said, “Harvey, don't let Susan appear in front of me during this month, understand?”

Harvey thought Kristie had changed her mind, so his thick brows relaxed and his tone softened a lot.

“Okay, I agree. Her due date is exactly one month from now and I don't want her mood to be affected in this last month.”

What a coincidence.

Kristie's heart was breaking repeatedly, so she left without looking back, completely ignoring Harvey's voice behind her.

“By the way, I have asked a nanny to take care of Susan. She has a picky appetite and she only likes her cooking. During this time, you should…."

Before he could finish his words, Harvey frowned and looked up, only to see Kristie's departing back.

Harvey's brows were twisted and he suddenly felt dissatisfied. It seemed that there was something different about Kristie.

He knew that he was sorry for Kristie in the incident with Susan, but that night was an accident. Since God had given this accident an extra surprise, he would never give up on this child.

Harvey believed that Kristie would figure it out.

She loved him so much that she would accept Susan and the child for him and soon, she would replace Mavis by marrying into the Romero Family for him.

Christ was a fool and Kristie just suffered a little reputational injustice. Harvey believed that she would understand himself.

Outside the ward, Kristie leaned her back against the snow-white wall, slowly slid down to the ground and cried inconsolably.

After an unknown amount of time, Kristie slowly raised her head and looked at the afterglow of the setting sun outside the window. She reached out and wiped away the tears from her cheeks.

She thought that tomorrow would be a good day, and in a month, she would usher in a new life.

However, Kristie never expected that Harvey had already agreed to it, but right after that, he actually let Susan enter the house and bully her.
