Chapter 1
After Hangover My Secret Crush Wanted to Marry Me
After a class reunion, I had a one-night stand with an old middle school classmate.
I hurriedly fled the scene, only to find out later that I was pregnant.
I intended to quietly go to the hospital for an abortion, but the doctor in charge turned out to be the father of my child.
The doctor, with a cold expression, raised his scalpel and said in a sinister tone, "Ms. Jensen, I now suspect you of attempting to murder my child."

When I woke up, I felt something strange with my body. I didn't know why, but every part of me was aching.
Opening my eyes, I saw the floor in complete disarray.
Scattered on the ground were clothes thrown about in chaos.
I took a deep breath and smelled a faint and familiar scent.
I thought, "Oh no, I'm done for."
I had just experienced a one-night stand.
I'd actually slept with my former deskmate, Locke Denton.
As if to confirm my suspicions, a rustling sound suddenly came from under the covers.
A warm hand reached over, groped around for a moment, and then settled directly on my chest.
Then, the hand's owner, Locke, contentedly drifted back to sleep.
Sweat broke out all over me, and I was so tense I didn't dare breathe, fearing I might wake him.
Taking advantage of the fact that Locke was still asleep, I quickly got dressed.
Ignoring the soreness in my body, I quietly slipped out of the hotel before dawn.
Sitting in the taxi on the way home, I kept replaying the events of the previous night, trying to figure out how it had happened.
I wondered, "How did I end up sleeping with Locke?"
My mind was still fuzzy from the hangover, but fragments of last night's memories kept surfacing in my head.
I remembered drunkenly clinging to Locke, crying and begging for his forgiveness.
He had a dark look on his face and tried to push me away, but I just held onto him tighter.
Later, in the taxi, I boldly kissed him.
Then, under the driver's surprised gaze, I began taking off his clothes, saying I would offer myself to him.
As the memories of last night became clearer, I felt so regretful I wanted to strangle myself.
I even started to wonder if my brain and body had betrayed me.
Chapter 2
It had been nearly ten years since I last saw Locke.
If it weren't for that damned class reunion, I could've remained single forever.
I've never been keen on love for so many years. I thought I could live alone for the rest of my life.
Ten years after we graduated from middle school, our class president suddenly suggested organizing a reunion.
He reached out to everyone in the group chat, emphasizing that everyone should attend.
By the time I entered the private room, most of my classmates were already there.
The class president handed me a few drinks with a smile, saying it was a penalty for being late.
I'm not good with alcohol and was about to refuse, but the class president insisted. "Kristina, I heard you started your own company. You're not looking down on us, are you? What? Can't you even have a drink with us?"
The lively room suddenly fell silent. Everyone turned to look at me, waiting for me to make a fool of myself.
Just as I was about to take the drink, a hand reached over and took the glass. That person downed the drink in one go.
"I'll drink it for her. Don't make it difficult for the girl."
I turned my head and saw Locke's eyes filled with amusement.
He was still as gentle and refined as ever, but he was no longer the naive boy he once was. He seemed much more mature than he had been ten years ago.
The class president laughed and teased Locke for playing the hero to save the damsel in distress.
And just like that, the awkward moment passed.
I wanted to thank Locke, but he acted as if he didn't know me, engrossed in conversation with the other classmates.
I cornered him when he went to the restroom.
He looked up at me, his gaze cold, as if I were a stranger.
"What do you want?"
I mustered up the courage to say, "I wanted to thank you for helping me with the drink earlier."
He didn't even look at me and turned to leave.
Instinctively, I grabbed his hand.
He seemed a bit impatient, gritting his teeth as he spoke, "Now what?"
My courage faltered under his impatient gaze.
Seeing me open my mouth to speak, Locke immediately pulled his hand away.
In the process, a pack of cigarettes fell from his pocket onto the ground.
That pack of cigarettes at least gave me a topic to break the awkward silence.
"You... you smoke now? I didn't know that."
He picked up the pack, lit a cigarette, and exhaled the smoke.
His face became obscured by the smoke, and even his voice seemed a bit muffled.
"There's a lot you don't know. I also didn't know that you, who sat with me for three years, actually hated me so much."
His words hit me like a hammer, piercing my heart.
Chapter 3
Locke and I weren't just classmates. We sat next to each other for three years.
Back then, he was introverted and didn't talk much.
Because of a little secret I had, I didn't dare talk to him either.
Although we were deskmates, we hardly ever spoke.
During our school days, even though we sat together every day, we didn't really know each other.
Before graduation, our seats were reassigned.
There was no reason for me to keep sitting with Locke.
Just like that, our seats were separated.
Although we were no longer deskmates, I couldn't help but keep an eye on him.
After we stopped sitting together, he seemed more cheerful.
His new deskmate was a lively girl who often asked him for help with her studies. Locke always patiently assisted her.
She liked to joke around, and she could always make Locke laugh.
I felt a pang of disappointment. Locke had never smiled at me like that.
I didn't know why, but I felt a sourness in my heart.
After the midterm exams, the school held a parent-teacher meeting.
When my mom saw my report card, she was furious.
After the meeting, she pulled me aside and scolded me harshly.
"Kristina, what are you doing? I work so hard to support your education, and this is how you repay me.
"If I had known you'd turn out like this, I wouldn't have let the doctors save you. I should have saved your brother instead and let you die."
I didn't dare argue. My mom always said such things when she was angry.
I felt guilty about the brother I never got to meet. After all, my mom had always told me that if I hadn't taken all the nutrients in her womb, maybe he could have survived until the doctors could save him. It was all my fault.
Seeing me remain silent, my mom got even angrier.
"Why aren't you saying anything? Are you secretly cursing me in your heart? Now that you're grown up, you've become rebellious. Are you hiding a boyfriend from me? I have read your diary.
"You even wrote, 'He smells so good, like the scent of gardenias carried by the wind.' How could you write such things? Have you no shame?"
Hearing my secret exposed, I quickly raised my head, only to see Locke standing nearby.
I realized he had overheard my mother's words.
A wave of embarrassment and shame washed over me.
I ran away without looking back.
I never expected the secret I'd hidden in my heart for so many years to be exposed in such a humiliating way.
I felt my crush had become a joke.
Tears blurred my vision. Suddenly, a hand offered me a tissue.
It was Locke.
The embarrassment and shame in my heart surged once again.
As if I'd found an outlet for all my pent-up anger, I yelled furiously, "Get lost! Can't you just leave me alone? Don't you know how much I hate you?"
