Chapter 2
Eric hadn't called since that day, but some unnamed people kept coming one after another.
These people didn't really care about me. They often greeted me and then talked about Eric's company, asking how much progress has been made in the cooperation with the Sky Group.
I was really annoyed by them, so I found an excuse to leave the ward.
I planned to go downstairs and bask in the sun.
The elevator door in front of me opened. I saw a familiar face.
Although time had left traces of years on this face, I still confidently called out, "Marvin Miller?"
The man in the elevator was wearing a white shirt, with a suit jacket casually held in his hand. He was tall and straight, and his metal glasses shone brightly under the elevator light, looking very handsome.
He was whispering something to the man beside him. He was stunned when he saw me, with a hint of disbelief in his eyes.
"Mila Moore?"
His voice sounded hesitant, with a hint of excitement and caution.
Meeting an old acquaintance, I naturally abandoned my original plan. I was pushed to the edge of the windowsill by him.
He asked me with concern, "What's the matter with you? Is it serious?"
I forced a smile. The days after losing my memory were a mess, and I didn't know where to start for a moment.
But I was not the kind of person who complained about my troubles. I just shook my head to indicate that it was not serious. We started to chat casually. I tried my best to talk only about our high school days.
Although so, there were still a few times when I couldn't make my statement consistent.
Fortunately, Marvin didn't ask more. After chatting for a while, he suggested taking me back to the ward.
From our conversation just now, I knew that Marvin came to visit his mother.
I quickly waved my hand and said, "Thank you, but I can go back by myself. Besides, it's just a short distance."
Seeing me pointing to the ward across the corridor, Marvin could only nod.
On my halfway, Marvin caught up with me. He seemed hesitant, but still took out his phone and said, "Can I have your number?"
After Marvin left, I looked at his phone number, and felt more confused.
Why don't I have Marvin's phone number? Have we lost touch over the years?
Marvin was the boy I had a crush on in high school. He was sunny, handsome, and gentle. He also had good grades, and our relationship was good, beyond friendship but not yet lovers.
I remembered we made a promise...
I suddenly covered my head. I forgot what Marvin and I had promised, but deep down I knew it was important.
I spent a long time calming down and didn't intend to trouble my brain that hadn't recovered yet. I grabbed the wheels of the wheelchair and stopped in front of the ward.
I just wanted to check if those people in the ward had left, but unexpectedly I heard my name.
The woman flattered that Eric and I were true love just now, saying, "Mila Moore hasn't come back yet? Does she really think she's someone?"
"Does she really think that they are true love? She can't even control her own man, it's only because Mr. Davis still cares about this relationship."
"Shh, you can't talk nonsense about this. She is going to be Mrs. Davis in the future." Another female voice pretended to dissuade.
"Mrs. Davis? Don't be funny. She specializes in climbing into other men's beds."
"Since Mr. Davis wants to cooperate with the Sky Group, he can ask her to sleep with the CEO of the Sky Group, then it will be done."
There was an exaggerated laughter in the room. My expression was cold, but my trembling body unconsciously revealed my emotions.
I didn't believe that I had done these things.
But I didn't know that not far away, Marvin didn't leave. He was watching me from a distance and turned to the person next to him, saying, "Go and find out what's wrong with Mila Moore's illness."
Chapter 3
Since I asked those people to leave impolitely, there were fewer people bothering me.
My mom brought soup to me and said, "Mila, have some soup to nourish yourself, and then call Eric."
I put down the bowl and said what I had been wanting to say for the past few days, "Mom, I don't remember anything about Eric Davis. I want to break up with him."
As soon as I finished speaking, she threw the lunchbox on the table and said anxiously, "No way. You have suffered so much. How can you break up with him?"
I looked at my parents in disbelief and murmured, "Mom, you saw it too. I've been in the hospital for half a month, and Eric hasn't come to see me once. I still don't know what he looks like."
My mom quickly put on a smile to comfort me, "Mila, it's normal that a couple argue. Eric and you have been together for twelve years. Eric did make a mistake, but he left the bride at the scene and came to find you.
"If I were you, I would endure it and try to get married to him this year."
I turned to look at my dad, but I didn't expect him to remain silent, presumably agreeing with my mom's words.
"What are you talking about!" I never expected my parents to think like this. "This is cheating, Mom!"
Seeing I was emotional, my mom couldn't keep her smile on her face anymore. "Who am I doing this for? When Eric was still a poor guy, you followed him eagerly! Do you know how others talk about you?"
My mom seemed hesitant to speak, but she still spoke it out. "Others say that you slept with his boss for Eric. Now that Eric has become successful, how silly you are to leave him now."
My dad patted my mom's shoulder to calm her down and continued, "Mila, think about it. If you lose Eric, can you still live such a good life? Our whole family relies on Eric for support. What will you do if you break up?"
I couldn't believe what I heard. I tried my best to calm myself down by taking deep breaths, but tears were still welling up in my eyes.
I didn't remember any of these things, but I believed I wouldn't do such things.
But I didn't expect that my parents would think of me this way, and I didn't expect that they knew what kind of person Eric was, yet they still made me grovel.
The door of the ward creaked open, and a tired and impatient man in a suit walked in.
"What are you crying about?" Eric sat on the chair in the room and asked, looking at my tears.
It's really Eric.
Eric was completely different from the person in my memory. Now Eric was dressed meticulously, exuding the mature aura of a man.
Seeing that I didn't answer and just stared at him blankly, Eric seemed to be in a slightly better mood. Ignoring my parents' forced smiles, he walked a few steps and sat on my sickbed, wiping away my tears.
"Mila, are you feeling wronged?" Although it was a question, Eric's tone was full of affirmation.
He hugged me and said, "I didn't marry her, did I? When I heard that you had an accident, I immediately rushed over from the wedding. I've been busy these days, and I'm really sorry, Mila."
His explanation was meaningless except for admitting his infidelity.
I felt disgusted and pushed him away with a cold expression. I saw his surprised expression and said, "Let's break up."
Eric seemed a little incredulous and asked, "What did you say?"
My mom tried to cover my mouth in a hurry, but it was too slow. "Let's break up, Mr. Davis."
Eric looked at my parents and me with disdain. He didn't say anything harsh, just casually replied, "Okay, let's break up.
"Mlia Moore, don't regret it."
