Chapter 1

My mother was burned to death by my boyfriend, who pretended to be a firefighter to cheer up his lover.

On the wedding day, his lover acted like a spoiled child in his arms. “Matthew, I haven’t seen you act like a firefighter to put out a fire.”

My boyfriend agreed lovingly, changed into role-playing clothes turned around to light my mother’s skirt on fire.

My blind mother was at a loss she didn’t scream until the fire engulfed her.

He sprayed her with a fire extinguisher. “Look, your husband is awesome, isn’t he?”

Then the two of them kissed and left, but they didn’t notice that the fire on my mother’s body hadn’t been completely extinguished.

I cried and called him to come back to save my mother, but I only heard him say, “I’ve already given you a wedding, why are you still playing tricks? Anyway, what can happen to her, huh.”

They ignored me and kept being lovey-dovey. My wedding became my mother’s funeral.

The next day, my mother’s dressing room was still on fire. The fire department finally came.

I fell at the door, crying calling my mother with a bruised face.

Ten minutes later, a charred body was carried out. When I was about to take my mother away with all my sadness, my boyfriend’s lover, Anastasia, kicked my mother’s head off with her high heels. “Oh, no one saw it. What is this? It scared me!”

She wanted to step on her again, so I rushed over and held her foot. “Don’t do that. This is my mother!”

The sharp heel pierced my palm. As I screamed in pain, Matthew came out in dishevel Anastasia fell into my arms at the right time.

“Matthew, look at my 1,375 dollars shoes, which are all stained by this charred corpse! What kind of person is she?!”

Matthew coaxed her distressedly, “I’ll buy you another 13,76 dollars pair of shoes, baby.”

He accidentally glanced at me and said with disgust, “I haven’t seen you for a day. How come you are as ugly as garbage?”

I raised my arm and slapped her. “Has your conscience been eaten by a dog? Because of you, my mother died!”

I looked impatient and scolded, “You actually followed me here. I warn you, get out quickly, don’t get in the way, or I will divorce you.”

“Isn’t it enough that I gave you a nominal identity? Anastasia, she can only be a mistress because of you. How lucky you are.”

He turned back to tell colleagues. “Hurry up and notify the family.”

He actually forgot that this was the venue for our wedding my mother was inside. He turned around without waiting for them to speak.

My brain buzzed I watched them leave with a pale face.

His brothers and colleagues looked at me speechless, leaving me alone to hug my mother and cry.

I dragged my mother to the elevator entrance when I came downstairs, it was raining heavily.

I desperately tore off the outer gauze on my body to wrap my mother the rain and tears mixed together.

Finally, I crawled and fell to the crematorium to let my mother go cleanly.

When I returned to the new house with her ashes, I didn’t expect to meet them. I saw Anastasia wearing Matthew’s white shirt she was surprised to see me. “Oh, Wanda, why are you dirty all over, like a beggar?”

She covered her mouth and said, “I didn’t mean it, it’s just an adjective.”

It seemed that she was the mistress of this house I was an outsider.

I tried to suppress my sadness and threw the divorce agreement in his face. “Sign it I will give way to you, two dogs and bitches. Also, mom is really dead.”

He slapped me down. “Don’t be shameless! You spent so much effort to marry me, how can I bear to leave you? Stop making trouble you are not clean anymore. Who would dare to want you if you leave? Look at how shabby you are you wear good clothes like cheap goods. What’s more, you have a blind mother. Don’t talk about her death every day, or you will really curse her to death later.”

The urn in his hand fell to the ground. He still had the nerve to talk about my mother, it was ridiculous.

My mother was blind because she rushed into the fire to save him when he was still young. My mother, who was damaged by smoke and lost her eyes, did not blame Matthew was still so kind to him. As he grew up, he only disliked my mother. His parents, thinking of our kindness, let us move in with them.

He touched my head when he was little and vowed, “I will marry you when I grow up.”

I remembered this sentence deeply I would stay for him even if someone pursued me. But I didn’t expect that I was the only one trapped in the memories of the past.

I collapsed on the ground and clenched my fists in pain; my nails deeply embedded in my flesh.

Ignoring the injuries on my body, I stumbled over and lay in the ashes, crying heartbreakingly.

I put my mother in the box and wiped my tears. “How about this, you give me your mother’s guide dog I will take it away. We won’t bother you anymore.”

Chapter 2

Anastasia looked at me innocently. “The guide dog had a fight with my wolf dog, Bailey it was a terrible fight. It was bitten to death. You won’t blame me, right? I didn’t mean it. You can see that Bailey is covered with wounds.”

The eyes were red instantly. There was no wound on the wolf dog.

Seeing the guide dog’s tag in the corner, I rushed over to grab it, but she kicked it away in advance. “It’s unlucky to keep the dead dog’s stuff. I’m doing this for your own good.”

Matthew grabbed my hair. “Look, you’re like a crazy woman. Is it a big deal for just a dog?”

Of course, it was a big deal. The dog had been with us since my mother became blind. It had been more than ten years. He was another relative of mine.

Seeing that I didn’t say anything, he sneered and said, “Anastasia is much more sensible than you. Your dog was made into dog meat buns by her and fed to Bailey. She knows how to save money. She doesn’t have to bury your body. Look, her hands are red. It’s an honor for Bailey to eat it.”

I felt like I was struck by lightning. How could he be so shameless that he didn’t even leave the dog’s body for me. I didn’t know where the strength came from, I broke free from his restraints.

I picked up the ashtray on the table and threw it at him. The corner of his forehead was bleeding he looked at me in disbelief.

In the past, I would feel so distressed when his hand was broken I would run out in the middle of the night to buy medicine for him to bandage.

Now, I hurt him with my own hands. Perhaps my resistance made him sober up a little.

He stroked my hair and said unhappily, “Okay, I’ll apologize to your dog and buy another one.”

I didn’t see any regret in his attitude, only perfunctory. I shook off his hand and walked into my mother’s room to take away all her things.

Now I only had clothes to miss. Mom, I regret falling in love with him. It’s your life and the dog’s life.

When I came to the room, I found that my mother’s things were gone. How could this happen? They were clearly packed.

I came out to question them, only to see Anastasia pick up my mother’s ashes and look at me with ill intentions. “Wanda, you didn’t want to attract Matthew’s attention and pretend to care for the ashes? You are too cold-blooded. How can a daughter curse her mother every day? I think these ashes are good for planting flowers as for this box, it would be great to use it as a dog bowl.”

I ran out quickly, trying to snatch the urn from Anastasia’s hand. During the shove, she fell on the sofa and said to him in tears, “Matthew, it hurts so much, you see, she made me fall.”

Matthew grabbed the box with one hand and looked at me with gritted teeth. “I think you are extremely vicious. Even if it’s just a box of ashes, you want to hurt Anastasia. You are like a rag picker, bringing everything home.”

I wanted to grab it, but he pushed me down and hit the flower bed. My head was covered with blood my nose was full of the smell of blood.

I hugged his legs with blurred vision. “Please, this is my mother, give it back to me.”

He struggled with his legs, but he didn’t let go I held him tightly. He kicked me fiercely I bit his leg in desperation. He kicked me over with all his strength in pain.

Anastasia leaned over with a distressed look on his side. “I can’t bear to bite Matthew. Is it necessary to do this for a gray box? If it were me, I would let Matthew touch anything. You don’t have someone you like outside, do you?”

I was so angry that I stood up and wanted to hit her pitiful face. Before I touched her, he pushed me down.

Matthew squatted down and looked at me. “You are so careless. Anastasia is right. I have given you a status, are you treating me like this?”

It turned out that in his eyes, giving me a status was already a great gift from heaven.

Spitting out a mouthful of blood, I roared at him, “What about you? I told you that my mother is dead, but you don’t believe it. Don’t you understand human words?”

He looked at me with a smile. “How about this, I remember that there are two dog buns left, you eat it. I will believe that this is your mother let you take her away.”

Chapter 3

Hearing his words, I stayed where I was. The sadness in my heart surged in my heart.

Matthew used to say that I was the person he loved the most. During a mission, he met Anastasia. He was attracted by her and went out all the time since then.

Until I found a lipstick mark on his collar one time. I questioned him, but he said, “Anastasia just wants to be with me, not for the name. She is such a pure little girl, don’t bother with her.”

I thought, how could she be a mistress if she was so pure? She even killed my mother. I was stunned for more than a minute. When they thought I gave up, I grabbed the dog bowl, picked up the remaining buns started to swallow hard.

Tears kept flowing, the smell of dog came up. I felt nauseous and wanted to vomit, but I forced it down. After eating, I looked at him. “Can you give me the ashes? And my mother’s clothes?”

He raised his eyebrows. “I didn’t expect you to be so dramatic for these things. Those clothes smell like old people. Anastasia’s dog just needs a nest. It’s not a waste to use her clothes as a dog nest.”

The blood in my body seemed to freeze I rushed into the dog nest and dug up my mother's clothes.

It was already in a state of disarray I was so heartbroken that I couldn’t breathe. “Matthew, I hate you!”

I looked at him with my eyes wide open. “You don’t remember my mother’s kindness to you at all. Give me her ashes and we can separate.”

I picked up the fruit plate and threw it at him. He seemed to be angry with me and choked me. “You went too far today. You mentioned her saving me eight hundred times. If she didn’t save me, there would be firefighters to save me. She was doing it in vain. Even if she died, she deserved it. I think there is no point in keeping an old woman like her. She should die quickly. It’s best to die outside, so that the house won’t be dirty.”

I was choked so hard that I couldn’t breathe. He let me go when I was about to suffocate.

In a daze, he gave the urn to Anastasia. “You deal with it. I see that she doesn’t tell the truth. She just wants to make trouble for me.”

I tried hard to open my eyes and shouted loudly, “No, please.”

My mother’s ashes were sprinkled into the flower bed in front of me. She also poured water into it. “With ashes and water, the flowers will look beautiful.”

I sat up in despair and slapped myself in the face. “Mom, I regret it, I really regret it.”

At this time, Matthew answered the phone. The caller said, “Hello, sir, we are the organizer of the wedding we are also very sad that your mother-in-law passed away. But we still have to confirm the compensation for burning the room”
