Chapter 2

In my previous life, he would never take the initiative to coax me no matter what the reason for the quarrel between us was. Instead, he would only make up with me if I coaxed him first.

"Those who are favored always have no fear."

"In this life, I don't want to be so humble anymore."

Kellan and I had been in a deadlock fight for a whole week.

This week, I hadn't contacted him once.

Kellan, who had long been accustomed to my submissiveness, seemed that he couldn't stand it anymore.

On the 8th day, as soon as I came out of the set, a WhatsApp message from him popped up on my cell phone.

It was a photo.

It was a photo of him at a dinner party, in which he was hugging a young girl.

His eyes were full of provocation and show-off. It seemed as if he were saying to me, "Eileen, I have plenty of girls around me, who like me."

I rolled my eyes and sent him a photo of mine.

It was a WhatsApp chat screenshot of my mom urging me to go on blind dates.

After leaving Kellan's house that day, I went home and told my parents that Kellan and I had broken up.

My parents congratulated me on the spot.

They never liked Kellan.

It was not because of his poor family background. Instead, they both thought he, who had a bad character, was not an ideal man for me to marry.

My parents were much more experienced than me. Most of the people, whom they didn't trust, turned out to indeed have some issues.

"Marriages that the old generations oppose usually don't end up well."

"I learned such a painful lesson from my excruciating personal experience, hoping young girls won't follow in my footsteps."

In my previous life, my parents advised me to break up multiple times, begging me. But I, who was blinded by love, insisted on marrying him.

Later, he proudly showed off in front of me after achieving success in his career. Hugging his ex-girlfriend, he said, "You are now old and no longer worthy of me. Here is 1 million dollars. Consider it as the caregiver fee for taking care of my mother all these years. Take it and get lost.”

After being kicked out, I dragged my battered body back to my parent’s home. Upon learning about my ordeal, they were righteously agitated. My father, who had suffered from heart disease, was immediately hospitalized.

Not long after, my father passed away.

My mother became depressed. Two years later, she left me and departed from this world.

"I don't want to look back on the past..."

"In this life, I will not repeat the same mistakes."

So, I readily agreed when my mom urged me to go on a blind date.

Two minutes later, Kellan called me.

I touched lightly on the screen of the cell phone and swiped up. The call was connected, and Kellan's roar came through.

"Eileen, by playing two sides of the fence, you're quite a player. I didn't expect you to be this kind of person!"

I snorted indifferently, saying, "Aren't you the same?"

"I'm different from you. She was my colleague. We were having a company gathering."

"Is that important?"

After saying that, I decisively hung up the call.

Then I blocked him.

I exhaled a breath of stale air, instantly feeling relieved.

I went back to the nanny's car and opened the window. A gust of wind came in, mixed with the faint fragrance of flowers, and rushed into my nose along with my breath.

"It turns out that the world can be so beautiful after I leave the scumbag. Even the air is so sweet and intoxicating."

Chapter 3

After I left the scumbag, my work went on much more smoothly. My life was more joyful.

"Sometimes, you have to have the courage to stay away from people and things that exhaust you, even if they are the ones you love the most and are closest to you."

No matter what kind of man my parents arranged for me, I actively went on blind dates and approached them with an open and accepting attitude.

I used to think that Kellan was the best man in the world. Now I realized there were much better men out there.

Not to mention other things, all the men I had dated were far better than him in terms of respecting women.

But Kellan was having a hard time.

He was heavily in debt. His younger brother was a troublemaker who couldn't do anything right.

Recently, he was fooled into online gambling. Besides losing everything, he was indebted with hundreds of thousands of dollars in high-interest loans.

But he disappeared after that, leaving all the mess to his brother, Kellan.

After he disappeared, the loan sharks came to Kellan aggressively, forcing him to repay the money.

Kellan was as poor as a church mouse.

In the end, he was beaten up.

His mother fainted on the spot.

With no other choice, Kellan came to me again.

As soon as I had come out of the set, he came up to me with a bouquet of red roses, smiling pleasantly.

"Eileen, are you off work? Are you tired? I brought you food. It's in your car!"

I knew why he was here. Raising an eyebrow at him, I didn't reply as I got into the nanny's car.

Kellan caught up.

He put down the flowers and opened the insulated box. The aroma of the food spread throughout the car.

My manager and assistant looked at me with envy and hunger.

I was not moved.

Looking at Kellan indifferently, I said, "We have broken up. Did you lose your memory?"

Kellan looked slightly embarrassed. Then he forced a pleasing smile on his face.

"Eileen, I have seriously reflected on myself during this time. It's my fault. I haven't been considerate enough and caring enough towards you. I was wrong, but I will make it up to you in the future."

I rolled my eyes in secret.

"If it weren't for his younger brother running away after carrying a bunch of debts, which forced him into a dead end, he would have never said such words hypocritically."

I looked at him expressionlessly and said, "Alright. Slap yourself a few times first to show me your sincerity."

Kellan was stunned suddenly.

I casually played with my manicured nails and said, "You have to show some sincerity, right?"

Kellan's eyes revealed pain and humiliation.

After hesitating for two minutes, he gritted his teeth and slapped himself in the face.

My agent and assistant gasped in shock.

They seemed to have never expected that Kellan, who used to yell at me all the time, would act like this one day.

I remained as expressionless as ever, not even blinking.

Kellan seemed to realize that I was not satisfied yet, so he slapped himself in the face again.

"Are you satisfied now?"

I blew on my manicured nails, saying, "Next, it depends on your performance."

Chapter 4

Since then, Kellan had been to the set to visit me every day, trying his best to please me.

In the evening, I received a call from my best friend after I finished work.

My best friend asked me to attend a dinner party, which she had organized.

"Eileen, there are several talented young men coming tonight. Don't miss it!"

Besides my parents, my best friend was concerned about my relationship. She actively introduced various blind date candidates to me. All of them were much better than Kellan.

I looked at Kellan, who was helping me with my coat and said, "Okay. I will be there on time."

After hanging up the call, I said to Kellan, "I'm going to attend a dinner party. Do you want to come with me?"

Kellan's eyes suddenly lit up as he said, "Yes, yes!"

He had been pleasing me for many days, but I had been treating him as aloofly as ever.

At that moment, I suddenly invited him to attend a dinner party. So, he was as excited as a rewarded child.

Seeing me and Kellan coming in together, Sarah suddenly looked dumbfounded.

I calmly took my seat and casually pointed at Kellan, saying, "This is my driver."

Now, it was Kellan's turn to be dumbfounded.

Sarah smiled and nodded at me, understanding my thoughts.

"So, you're the driver," she said with a smile. "Your identity doesn't quite match the high-end dinner tonight. Since you're here, go with the flow and take a seat!"

Kellan looked gloomy.

He glared at me, feeling too angry to say anything. I raised an eyebrow and said casually, "You are invited, so sit down!"

Kellan hesitated for a while. In the end, he sat down reluctantly.

A talented young man liked me very much. He was attentive to me. Sitting next to me, he would occasionally serve me food and pour me wine.

I left Kellan aside and chatted with him enthusiastically.

My best friend, Sarah, looked at the two of us with a smile. Then she glanced meaningfully at Kellan, saying, "You two come from similar backgrounds. One is handsome, and the other is beautiful, and you get along so well. You're a perfect match. Why not consider being together?"

I looked at Kellan. He had never been as sullen as he was now.

Suddenly, he stood up and pulled me up.

Under the gaze of everyone, he dragged me out of the restaurant forcibly.

While waiting for the elevator at the entrance, he vented his anger out on me.

"Eileen, did you deliberately bring me here to humiliate me?"

He finally understood my intention.

I didn't hide it, saying, "Compared to what you did to me before, what I'm doing to you now is nothing."

When I pursued Kellan, I bought him a car and clothes, impersonating him like an elite when he was poor.

But he had never been thus grateful to me. He even betrayed and dumped me.

I turned around and planned to go back. Kellan grabbed me and angrily shouted, "You can't go back!"

I forcefully shook off his hand and said, "Remember your identity. You are just my driver."

After such a conflict with Kellan, he never came to the set to see me again.

I never bothered with him, considering him the deceased.

But Kellan, who had no choice in facing the current situation, showed up to find me again.

I heard that the loan sharks had smashed his home. Besides taking away everything valuable, they had stolen the property certificate.

They threatened Kellan, saying that he should transfer the house to them if he didn't pay back the money within a month.

Kellan's mother was so angry that she was admitted to the hospital with a critical condition. That evening, I just came out of the set. Kellan greeted me enthusiastically with red roses, kneeling in front of me with a thud.

"Eileen, marry me and let me take care of you for the rest of your life, okay?"

His actions were too eye-catching, attracting everyone's attention. Everyone ran over to watch the excitement.

"We have broken up!" I remained unmoved, looking at Kellan indifferently.

Kellan put down the roses and took out a small black box from his pocket, slowly opening it.

A sparkling, translucent, and rose-shaped diamond ring appeared in front of me, emitting a dazzling light under the reflection of the light.

"Eileen, I'm serious. I didn't know I loved you before, but now I do. I don't want anyone else but you. From now on, whatever you say and whatever you ask me to do, I'll do as you say. Please give me a chance, okay?"

He spoke with such sincerity. His acting skills were unparalleled, overshadowing the Best Actor.

"Marry him. Marry him!" The people around started cheering.

Everyone loved watching this kind of drama, regardless of whether the girl involved was willing or not.

After pretending to carefully consider for two minutes, I loosened my grip and said, "Alright!"

"I will give him an unforgettable wedding."

He looked so excited.

He put the ring on my finger fumblingly, stood up, and passionately kissed me.

I felt nauseous and pushed him away.

He asked, "What's wrong?" Looking puzzled, he looked at me.

I pretended to be shy, saying, "There are so many people watching!"

I successfully deceived him, making him laugh with relief.

"Okay, whatever you say."

"Clap, clap, clap!" Loud applause resounded around. Everyone on the scene smiled joyfully.

I looked at Kellan expectantly.

"Kellan, don't disappoint me when the time comes."

"The scumbag is retreating step by step."
