Chapter 1

In my previous life, before graduation, my younger sister said she wanted to invite the entire class to a seafood buffet. I stopped her.

Facing everyone, I said, “Sorry, my sister is allergic to seafood, so she can’t invite you all to a seafood buffet!”

Although everyone said out loud that it was fine, behind our backs they gossiped that we were just pretending, that we simply didn’t want to spend the money. After all, a seafood buffet for the entire class would cost a fortune.

Cheerleader Bella seized the chance to invite the whole class to an all-you-can-eat buffet, and even confessed her feelings to my sister’s childhood friend, which made my sister so furious that she fainted on the spot.

After that, Bella and Ethan Miller, my sister’s childhood friend, openly displayed their relationship in class. My sister blamed everything on me.

One day after school, Chloe Carter cornered me in the restroom. Her eyes burned with rage, her face twisted as she screamed:

“Sophia, do you know that everything that happened to me is because of you? If I had been able to invite everyone to the seafood buffet, then I could have confessed to Ethan there, and right now, his girlfriend would be me!”

“It’s you! It’s all because of you! You ruined my life! I’ll kill you! Die!”

She thrust a dagger into my chest, blood gushing out. Before I died, I saw Chloe pull the dagger out of me and stab it into her own chest, smiling wickedly at me.

My mouth had been stuffed with a rag, so I couldn’t even scream.

When I opened my eyes again, I was back on the very day Chloe was about to invite the whole class to the seafood buffet.

Watching her bask in the flattery of our classmates, looking smug in the center of the crowd, I felt a strange sense of déjà vu.

Suddenly, someone shoved me and sneered: “Sophia Carter, Chloe is treating us to a seafood buffet. You don’t have a problem with that, do you?”

I glanced at Chloe, shrugged, and said, “I don’t mind. If she’s happy, that’s fine.”

The person blinked, then laughed. “Didn’t expect you to give in this time. All right then, let’s all go to the seafood buffet together!”

I shook my head without hesitation. “No, you go ahead. I have other things to do, I won’t join.”

Chloe’s smug face froze. She came toward me, looking aggrieved. “Sophia, are you upset with me? Is that why you’re refusing to go on purpose?”

Looking at her exaggerated act, I had the urge to tear off her mask right there, but I forced it down, took a deep breath, and said, “No. You’re paying for everyone’s meal with your own savings, not mine. Why should I be upset? I really do have other things to do, and besides, I don’t like seafood. I won’t crash the party.”

At the mention of her own savings, Chloe’s eyes flashed with frustration. In the past, every time she played generous host, it was me footing the bill. Classmates always praised her as kind and generous, while whispering that I was stingy for not even buying drinks.

In my previous life, I later learned that the stab Chloe gave herself had missed any vital organs—she hadn’t actually died. And she wasn’t even my mother’s biological daughter.

Back when Mrs. Carter was pregnant and went in for a check-up, the attending doctor was none other than Chloe’s biological mother, Dr. Moore. Seeing that my parents were wealthy while she herself was also pregnant, Dr. Moore hatched a wicked scheme.

She lied that my mother was carrying twins, and secretly swapped in her own newborn to give to my parents.

Chapter 2

Because of that lie, my parents raised Chloe for more than twenty years. In the end, she set fire to our house and killed them, and she and Dr. Moore inherited everything.

In this life, I no longer tried to stop her. She could eat all the seafood she wanted.

And I realized something else—she wasn’t really my sister. That explained why she was allergic to seafood while I wasn’t. If we were truly twins, how could only one of us have an allergy?

This time, without my support, I wondered how much her savings would suffer.

Sure enough, it wasn’t long before she called me, pleading:

“Sophia, you know this seafood buffet is costing me a lot. You know I don’t have much in my savings. I can’t hold out for long. Can’t you lend me your credit card? I promise I’ll return it to your room respectfully tonight, all right?”

In the past, when she borrowed our family’s credit card, I didn’t mind the money—I only hated how carelessly she returned it. Now, hearing her sound so obedient, I realized she hadn’t expected me to refuse to go with her.

But after living again, I had no intention of being her fool.

I shook my head and said, “That’s not right, Chloe. You’re the one inviting the whole class to a seafood buffet, not me. Why should you use my credit card?”

“But Sophia, I don’t have a credit card. Mom never gave me one. Dad and Mom are biased. They only gave you one, not me.”

She spoke as if it were perfectly natural.

I laughed bitterly. You’re not even their real daughter—why would they give you a card? For now, since my parents didn’t know the truth, we had to share one.

Chloe pouted, “If you don’t give it to me, I’ll tell Mom you’re being stingy and won’t spend money on me. Boo-hoo.”

In the past, when she acted spoiled, I always gave in. After all, it wasn’t much money. But this time, I refused outright.

“Sorry, I never said I was going to the seafood buffet. Chloe, you’re the host, you pay. It’s not that much anyway, is it?”

I hung up immediately.

Chloe fumed, then started whining in the class group chat:

“My savings are running low. It used to be a joint fund with Sophia, but she always got more love from our parents, so she separated the accounts. Now I only have a few hundred left, but Sophia has tens of thousands. Boo-hoo, I had no choice but to spend my own money on this buffet.”

When classmates saw the bill for thousands of dollars, they grumbled as they helped her cover the cost.

“If you couldn’t afford it, you should’ve said so earlier. Why make us pitch in?”

“Exactly, Chloe. You’re such a fake show-off. It’s not like we had to eat seafood.”

Several classmates called her out in the chat. Enraged, Chloe sent me a private message:

“Just wait, Sophia. I’ll make you pay for this.”

I replied calmly: “I’ll be waiting.”

Just then, Ethan Miller spoke up in the group, trying to smooth things over:

“All right, all right. Don’t be too harsh on Chloe. She meant well. Maybe her savings really were taken by her sister.”

Chloe quickly responded with gratitude:

“Thank you, Ethan, for standing up for me. I have something I’ve been wanting to say to you. I’ll say it now, in front of everyone.”
