Chapter 3

Melissa blushed and turned pale when I mentioned her.

"You're being unreasonable!"

She grabbed Kenny's hand angrily and turned away.

I struggled to get out of bed to see Roger's condition.

But I couldn't walk, so the nurse brought me a wheelchair.

Roger was frightened and sleeping, but his brows were furrowed and his chubby face was covered in cold sweat.

I heard him whispering, "Mom.. .don't abandon me."

My heart felt as if it were being stabbed.

I held Roger's hand and said, "It's okay, Roger, Daddy is here."

At this time, I received an apology message from the variety show director on my phone, saying that the police had captured the kidnapper and were interrogating him.

He said he would definitely give me an explanation.

I covered my eyes.

But shouldn't it be my beloved wife who should give me an explanation?

Our family was fine before.

Everything happened a few months ago.

That day was supposed to be Roger's birthday party, but Melissa stood us up.

Roger, who always loved eating cake, insisted on waiting for her mother to come back before eating.

However, we waited until midnight, until Roger couldn't resist falling asleep, and then Melissa hurriedly returned.

She gave Roger a necklace as a birthday gift.

Seeing her exhausted appearance, my dissatisfaction turned into worry in an instant, "Why did you come back so late?"

Melissa said she forgot to buy a birthday gift for Roger, so she went to the shop.

When I was about to say 'Roger won't blame you. Instead, Roger hopes that you can accompany him', I heard Melissa say.

"Harry and his son Lucas have returned to America. Ralph, can you help them find a place to stay?'"

I seemed to have guessed something, but I didn't dare to confirm it.

No, Melissa wouldn't be so heartless.

Facing Melissa's expectant eyes, I still suppressed the discomfort in my heart and nodded in agreement.

Kenny was Melissa's first love, I know, but I have never met him.

I thought Melissa had forgotten about him a long time ago, but what happened later shattered my momentary.

The change came quickly. Melissa told me that she was going to move in temporarily with Kenny.

She said, "Lucas just lost his mother and is very unsettled. He needs me."

I stood at the door, my gaze heavy, "So Roger doesn't need you anymore?"

Melissa was impatient, "Ralph, can't you put yourself in my shoes?"

"No, I can't." I emphasized, "Because I am a selfish father, and you are a generous mother."

However, what I waited for was only the back of Melissa without turning back.

Lost in thought, I stared at Roger for a long time and then moved the wheelchair to go and buy his food for him.

So that Roger could eat as soon as he woke up.

But when I returned to the ward, I found Melissa standing in front of our son's bed.

I clearly heard her say, "I'm sorry, Roger, actually that day, Mom recognized you."

Chapter 4

I stood still, stiff as a board.

What did she mean?

Melissa continued, "But Mom thought it was a special effect in the variety show, Mom didn't know that you would really be in danger."

"At that time, I really didn't think much, I just felt that Lucas was pitiful for being abandoned by his biological mother, I didn't want Lucas to be abandoned again."

"I didn't expect it to turn out like this... Roger, don't blame me."

No words could describe the anger and sorrow in my heart at this moment.

What was this?

Are you trying to justify yourself boldly?

How dare she come and talk to Roger!

I rushed in, only to find Roger lying on the sickbed with his eyes closed.

Turns out he hasn't woken up yet.

I breathed a sigh of relief. I was glad that he didn't hear these words, but also heartbroken that his biological mother was the one who said them.

Melissa looked stunned, and I coldly told her to leave.

"Go out, don't disturb Roger's rest."

Melissa was pushed out of the ward by me, and she was very embarrassed, "I am Roger's mother!"

"Are you? Melissa?" My voice trembled, "How much harm have you caused to Roger? Don't you have any idea in your heart?"

Melissa stomped away in anger, while I was exhausted and even my straight back bent down.

It was said that one becomes mature at the age of thirty, but I can't even protect my child, and I have never seen the true face of my wife.

"Dad..."

The childish voice awakened my depressed self, and I quickly moved the wheelchair and rushed in.

Roger woke up!

He frowned, "Who was that aunt just now? She suddenly rushed in and kept talking to me."

Roger had a look of seeking praise, "Fortunately, I pretended to be asleep immediately and she didn't find out!"

I was stunned, and an incredible guess surged in my heart, "Roger, do you... not know the aunt just now?"

Roger tilted his head, "You said she was aunt."

I immediately rang the bell, "Ding ding ding."

There was a commotion in the ward, and doctors and nurses rushed in.

Finally, after the doctor examined him, it was confirmed that the child was fine, but he... had lost his memory.

I and the doctor left the ward. He said to me, "Perhaps that memory was too painful for him, so he chose to forget it automatically."

"When will he remember?"

"It's uncertain, it could be a few days later, or he may not remember for several years."

If that's the case...

I looked through the window at the well-behaved Roger.

Then I would rather he never remember.

Remembering his mother, who had once abandoned him.

"Roger, are you awake?"

At the same time, a slightly excited voice came from behind.

I didn't allow her to go in and see, afraid that she would stimulate Roger.

But Melissa didn't listen, and stubbornly said, "I am his mother, how could I harm him?"

Sitting in a wheelchair, my mobility was greatly reduced, and I could only watch as Melissa rushed in, with an expectant look on her face, and came to Roger's bedside.

Roger raised his confused little face.

"Roger..."

Roger pouted, "Auntie, who are you? Why are you back to bother me again?"

Melissa's voice choked, her eyes slowly widened, and her outstretched hands trembled.

"Roger, I am your mother, don't you remember me?"
