After My Husband Chose His Mistress Over Our Son Summary
Chapter 1 of After My Husband Chose His Mistress Over Our Son
The pain ripped through my stomach like a serrated knife.
I fell to the cold marble floor of our Manhattan penthouse, clutching my belly. My eight-month bump felt rock-hard. Warm, thick blood soaked through my white nightgown, spreading across the tiles.
"Silas!" I screamed, my voice cracking. "Silas, please! Call 911!"
The bedroom door clicked shut. The lock turned from the outside.
I dragged myself toward it, smearing a red trail behind me. I banged both fists against the dark wood. "Silas! Help me!"
Footsteps stopped outside. It wasn't my husband.
"Breathe, Natalie," Londyn’s soft, airy voice drifted through the crack. "Panic disrupts the body’s healing frequency."
"Londyn, open the door!" I sobbed, clawing at the frame. "The baby... something is wrong. I’m bleeding out!"
"I checked your bio-rhythms on the portal," she said calmly. Her tone sounded like a customer service agent. "Your medical transport window isn't for another six hours. We must stick to the optimized schedule."
"Six hours?" I shrieked. "My baby will die!"
"Your stress is poisoning the environment," she replied. Through the gap beneath the door, I saw her pristine ivory heels. She tapped a stopwatch on her phone. "Rest. Silas agrees with the protocol."
"Silas!" I screamed until my throat tore.
Nobody answered. Darkness swallowed me.

When I opened my eyes, the smell of bleach hit me.
Fluorescent lights buzzed overhead. My body felt hollowed out, aching with an icy emptiness. A nurse stood beside my bed, her eyes red, gently placing a black-and-white ultrasound picture into my trembling fingers.
The doctor stepped in. His face was grim.
"Mrs. Armstrong," he said softly. "The placental abruption was catastrophic. We couldn't save him. Your son was stillborn."
A sharp ringing filled my ears. "No..."
"The internal bleeding was severe," the doctor added. "To save your life, we had to perform a complete emergency hysterectomy. I’m so sorry."
My hands shook. Dead. My boy was dead. And I would never carry another life.
I looked up. Silas stood at the foot of my bed.
He wore a tailored charcoal suit. His French cuffs were pulled down, hiding the scar where his left pinky used to be—the finger he chopped off years ago in a Bronx alley just to prove he would die for me. That boy was gone. In his place stood a stranger.
His jaw was clenched tight. His fingers tapped rapidly on his screen, editing a press release.
"Silas," I whispered, clutching the picture to my chest. "Londyn locked me in. She timed it. She killed our boy."
Silas didn't look up from his phone. "Stop it, Natalie."
"She locked the door!" I choked on my tears. "Arrest her. Call the police!"
"The medical examiner ruled it a tragic complication," Silas said coldly, his voice flat. "It was an unavoidable biological failure. I won’t let you drag Londyn into this."
"She murdered your son!"
Silas stepped closer, his shadow falling over me. "Don't make this emotional. Our tech IPO launches next month. Any scandal tanks the stock. Londyn is the public face of our wellness division. We move forward."
His phone buzzed. He glanced at the screen and answered immediately.
"Londyn?" His voice softened into warmth I hadn't heard in years. "Yes. Go ahead and move the king bed into the master suite. Put her things in storage."
He hung up, turned on his heel, and walked out without looking at me once.

By morning, a nurse leaked the truth.
A medical blog broke the story: *Tech Tycoon’s Life Coach Delays 911 Call, Causing Infant Death.*
The internet erupted. People called Londyn a monster. For a brief second, I thought justice might find me.
Then Silas’s corporate machine struck back.
His legal team slapped gag orders and cease-and-desist notices on every website. By noon, Londyn appeared on national television. She sat in an oversized cream sweater, dabbing at fake tears.
"I tried so hard to save her," Londyn whimpered into the camera. "Now I'm receiving death threats. The cyberbullying is destroying my mental health."
Silas stood beside her. His hand rested firmly on the small of her back. He spoke to the reporters with absolute authority, shielding her, praising her strength.
He never mentioned my name. He never mentioned our son. To the world, we didn't exist.

That evening, the door to my hospital room swung open. Silas walked in, tossing a manila folder onto my lap.
"What is this?" I asked, my voice dead.
"Greystone Psychiatric Center," he said smoothly. "You're checking yourself in for voluntary rehabilitation. Thirty days."
I stared at him in disbelief. "Greystone? That place is an asylum for violent offenders!"
"The press is asking questions," Silas said, leaning down. "A grieving mother having an unstable breakdown fits the narrative. It explains why you're quiet. It protects the company. And it protects Londyn."
"I'd rather die," I whispered. "Where is my baby, Silas? Where did you take his body?"
Silas smiled thinly. He pulled an expensive pen from his jacket and placed it on the papers.
"Sign the admission form, Natalie," he said, his voice dropping to a cruel whisper. "Check into Greystone. Do it quietly, and I'll tell you where he's buried. Refuse, and you’ll never see his grave."
My heart shattered into dust.
I looked down at the paper. Then, with shaking, bloodless fingers, I picked up the pen and signed my name.
