Chapter 2
No one knew a woman better than her father. My father saw through my thoughts. The number of guards in my yard has tripled compared to usual.
I tried to bribe the leader of the guards with money, but he was not moved.
I disguised myself as a maid and sneaked out, but I was caught on the spot.
I sent a pigeon message to request help, but my tools were confiscated.
My father asked me to stay in the house and prepared my wedding dress, waiting patiently for the marriage.
I suddenly felt a great shock. If I marry Laurant, it would be like a sheep entering a tiger's mouth. How can I continue to interact with those birds and butterflies outside?
My personal maid told me that the Empress's birthday was in a few days.
I clung to my father's leg, crying and begging him to take me into the palace. He finally agreed reluctantly.
As soon as I entered the palace, I found an opportunity and took Laurant to a secluded cave where no one noticed.
"I want to break off the engagement. You don't want to marry a woman who doesn't love you, do you?"
After saying this, I cautiously looked at Laurant's expression.
As the future crown prince, how could he possibly marry an indecisive woman?
I saw his face darken, unable to discern his emotions. "On the contrary, I am very satisfied with you and I am looking forward to you becoming my crown princess!"
I knew it!
Laurant was still complaining about how I ruined his good thing last time!
I spent a lot of money to redeem the beautiful lady from Moon Pavilion. Laurant must have discovered that the lady was missing and held a grudge against me.
I was so angry that I raised my fist to hit him, but I stumbled on a stone and fell straight towards Laurant.
A pair of scorching palms grabbed my waist, and there was a tingling sensation in my ears.
"Monica, you may say you don't like me, but your body is very honest."
This statement was too greasy, and I almost vomited.
I was furious and used both hands and feet to attack Laurant. Before I could hurt him, the noise attracted the patrolling guards outside.
"Who is it?"
At this moment, Laurant came to threaten me again, "What if I call out?"
If he howled, there was no way I could back out of this marriage!
I glared at him and watched him open his mouth.
Without thinking, I directly stuffed my hand into his mouth.
Just when I thought I had succeeded, the footsteps of the guards were getting closer and closer to us.
I nervously buried my head in Laurant's chest.
As long as they didn't see my face clearly, this would just be Laurant's scandal.
"You guys come over here! The prince's falcon is missing, come and help me find it!"
It was the voice of Laurant's secret guard.
I took a long breath.
Chapter 3
"Monica, you also have something to be afraid of. If you want to break off the engagement, you figure it out yourself!"
I was about to be infuriated by Laurant.
The emperor had arranged several marriages for him before me. Every time, he would cancel the marriage within three days.
He knew that I couldn't hold my temper, so he deliberately provoked me.
With a disgusted attitude towards him, I kissed Laurant on the face and said, "What a coincidence, I have admired you for a long time. Being able to marry you is a blessing from my previous life."
I was really unlucky.
I saw Laurant's chest heaving. He must be very angry.
Let's see who breaks first.
Clap, clap, a burst of enthusiastic applause.
I knew I didn't choose the wrong person. If I had arranged a marriage contract for you a few years earlier, I could have hugged my grandson earlier.
My pupils dilated and my limbs stiffened.
Why that the emperor and my father would suddenly appear here?
They believed that Laurant and I were in love. And they were afraid that we couldn't restrain ourselves, so they directly moved the wedding, originally scheduled for half a year later, to next month.
My father invited more than a dozen embroiderers to the mansion to make my wedding dress day and night.
He was so considerate. I was about to cry.
Chapter 4
A few days before getting married, a nanny came to teach me etiquette.
Even if I acted recklessly, I was still a noblewoman, and I had the best manners.
Every move and gesture made the nanny unable to find any fault.
Before the end of the class, Nanny praised me a lot, and I was flattered. I saw her off from the mansion.
A book fell out of her bundle before leaving.
Curiously, I picked it up and the wind blew open the first page, which made me blush.
Nanny, however, was used to it, saying, "Miss Powell, you are talented. Some lessons can be understood without teaching. I will take my leave first."
It must be my reputation that influenced Nanny's judgment!
If Laurant found out on the day of our marriage that I didn't know anything, he would definitely mock me!
Just thinking about his mocking face makes me furious. I grabbed a maid and headed straight to the largest bookstore in the capital.
I changed into men's clothing, dressed up properly, and went straight to my destination as soon as I entered.
Most men usually bought books and read them secretly at home, but I was different. I held the book carefully as if doing academic research.
The content was too hot. I had to look away after a few glances, or I would hurt my eyes when I went back.
Not long after, I found someone in the bookstore who was as sneaky as me.
And he seemed to be looking at me with an indescribable expression.
I signaled to the maid and we both approached him.
One pulled off the turban on his face, and the other knocked the book out of his hand.
It turned out to be Laurant!
And the book he dropped was exactly the same as the one in his hand.
It was erotic paintings!
I thought I had caught Laurant's handle and was excited to shout it out, but the next second he dragged me out of the bookstore.
