Chapter 1

Before Flora died, she cried and said she wanted to find her father.

I held her and called my husband countless times, but he hung up on me.

Flora never saw her father until she died.

But I saw my husband's Instagram.

His suit jacket was on another woman, with the caption, "You don't have to be afraid on rainy nights. Because I'm here."

That night, Flora died and I printed the divorce agreement.

"Donald Turner, let's get divorced."

——

It was already daylight when Donald came home.

He smelled of wine, wearing yesterday's clothes. When he heard what I said, he sobered up for a moment and instinctively frowned.

"Ella, are you crazy?"

He looked at me incredulously and asked, "You want to divorce me because I helped a friend yesterday?"

I was still holding Flora's little bunny doll, trembling all over. "Friend? Help? Donald, I called you 39 times last night. Do you know what happened to Flora..."

But Donald interrupted me. "That's enough!"

He glared at me impatiently. "How many times have you bothered me for Flora since she got sick? I don't want to argue with you because of her, but I should deserve some time and freedom for myself."

Before I could say anything, Donald got angry. He scolded me unhappily, "Besides, I did help last night. Joanna's car was restricted. And it was heavy rain outside. I couldn't just ignore it."

I looked at the person in front of me, struggling to breathe in pain.

I grew up with Donald and had known him for 28 years. We had been together for 7 years.

Childhood sweethearts. We were innocent and carefree. Since I was young, I liked him, but I also always knew that there was a lover in Donald's heart. That was Joanna.

They met in college and had an on-again, off-again relationship. Donald used to show off in front of everyone, saying, "This is the future Mrs. Turner."

But the year they graduated from college, Joanna unhesitatingly gave up Donald and went abroad.

Donald got drunk. And I went to the bar to pick him up.

That night, he held me and kept calling out Joanna's name. But when he woke up, he knelt in front of me and said he would take responsibility for me.

Later, we got together.

We were happy during our six years of marriage. I thought that any lover would fade away with time.

But after Joanna returned to America last year, I realized that all the happiness was just an illusion.

After he crossed that boundary with Joanna time and time again, I died inside.

Love shattered, but I still had a daughter. Flora had leukemia. I dare not confront Donald. I was afraid of upsetting Flora.

But I didn't expect Donald to be so heartless.

Before Flora died, her biggest wish was to see her dad, but what was Donald doing?

He was coaxing other women!

Chapter 2

I looked at him, disappointment piled up enough, only leaving a broken heart.

It doesn't matter if my love is dead, but Flora is also dead.

"Donald."

My voice was hoarse, shouting his name, "You want to take care of Joanna, I won't stop you. After the divorce, you can take care of her as you like."

Donald had never seen me like this before. Maybe the hatred of me scared him, and he was not angry.

"Ella, it's my fault. I shouldn't have ignored your call last night. But you know, we are just friends. I still love you and Flora the most. I won't answer her calls anymore, okay?"

As he spoke, he looked at the little rabbit doll in my hand and tried to pull it out, "Are you coming back to tidy up toys for Flora? Great, I'll drive you to the hospital later to see her. She must miss me after not seeing me for a day, right?"

But his words made me suddenly lose control.

As soon as he tried to pull out the doll, I pushed him away and said, "Donald, you don't deserve to mention Flora!"

I looked at him with disgust and said, "Are you even a father? Where were you last night?"

My Flora asked me before she died, "Mom, is Flora naughty? Why doesn't Dad come?"

At that time, I held Flora and watched her breath slowly disappear. I wished I could die with her.

She was only five years old. She was still so young and because of her illness. She didn't see the beauty of this world.

But even with such a small wish before her death, Donald didn't fulfill it!

She just wanted to see her dad...

I was almost mentally broken, pointing at him and cursing, "You beast, you don't deserve to be Flora's father. You don't need to act anymore!"

Flora is already dead, and I don't want to see him anymore!

I scolded Donald so harshly that he couldn't respond. He had an ugly expression and said, "Ella, I know you're not feeling well because of Flora's illness, but you're being unreasonable and it's annoying!"

He looked at me unfriendly and said, "I won't argue with you this time. Don't do it again. I'll go to the hospital with you."

In the past, when he said this, I would immediately obey because he gave me the chance. If I didn't take it, Donald would directly remove the chance.

I had loved him humbly for so many years and dared not show the slightest disobedience to him.

But now, I didn't need to anymore.

"You don't have to sign the divorce agreement. I'll go through the legal process directly."

When Donald heard what I said, he was stunned.

But before he could say anything, he heard the phone ring. It was Joanna calling.

"Donald, can you come over? My stomach hurts..."

Chapter 3

Donald hurriedly left with just one sentence from Joanna. He panicked and didn't even have time to put on his coat properly.

Before leaving, he remembered to say to me, "I won't divorce. I'll go to the hospital to see Flora later. You calm down too."

I stared at his back and watched the door close, squatting down for a while.

In my arms was Flora's bunny doll, which was her favorite.

But I no longer had a daughter.

I took Flora's toys and clothes to the crematorium.

After Flora was cremated, the doctor called me and said there were still some things of Flora's that hadn't been taken, and asked me to go and get them.

I hung up the phone and went to the hospital. In my bag was Flora's urn. Every time I moved; I would touch it.

It was as if she was poking me gently through my belly when she hadn't been born yet.

I held back my tears and left the doctor's office after getting the things. Then I met Donald.

He carefully supported Joanna and gently admonished, "I told you not to eat ice things. Now you see what happened."

Joanna leaned against him and sweetly smiled, "I know I was wrong, Donald..."

They looked up and saw me.

I turned around and was stopped by Donald, "Ella, stop!"

I didn't stop, and he let go of Joanna and grabbed me, "I'm asking you, where did you transfer Flora to the hospital? Do you know how serious her condition is? You actually transferred her to another hospital just to spite me!"

I was stunned, and Joanna followed and softly said, "Ella, just now Donald wanted to go see Flora, but the doctor said Flora was gone. How could you do this? For your own selfishness?"

Before I could speak, she coughed twice and continued, "I caught a cold last night, so I wore Donald's clothes. Donald is here to accompany me for a medical check-up. You mustn't think too much, and don't cause trouble between us because of me."

Joanna's words were like a man who added fuel to the fire, not only for Donald, but also for me.

To be honest, her tactics were quite low-level, but Donald never saw through them.

Since Joanna returned, Donald and I have had countless arguments. I had been retreating step by step, only to let them take advantage.

I had long been disheartened. I endured it for Flora, but Flora couldn't even see her father before she died!

Looking at their true colors now, I just feel disgusted.

"It's okay, I won't overthink it or mind. After all, you love using other people's husbands, so you can use him in the future."

I said this and looked at Donald again, "Also, I have already contacted a lawyer. Since you refuse to divorce amicably, let's meet in court."
