Chapter 1

In order to save someone, I was hit by a car and lost the hard-won baby in my belly.

Since then, my in-laws have blamed me for the death of the child.

My parents blamed me for ruining Dylan, my younger brother's future in the company.

My husband repeatedly questioned why I didn't die together with the child.

Holding the hospital's examination report, I smiled and wept.

Baby, I could finally come to you.

——

The smell of disinfectant in the hospital was sickeningly familiar.

I sat in the waiting hall, repeatedly recalling the words the doctor had just said to me.

Recently, I had been suffering from severe headaches, and it turned out that I had a brain tumor.

"Ms Hill, your condition has already progressed to the late stage. There is a constant danger of an outbreak. You must immediately inform your family and be hospitalized for conservative treatment."

I was a medical student and I knew how serious my condition was. The success rate of surgery for my condition was close to zero.

Holding the examination report and reading it over and over again, I blinked and smiled, and tears started to fall.

I came to see the doctor alone this time.

My family members couldn't wait for me to die.

Chapter 2

I used to have a happy and harmonious family.

My husband and I were loving and I had a good relationship with my mother-in-law, Emily Lowell.

The only thing that could cause conflict in the family was that I had been unable to conceive a child.

Emily had repeatedly emphasized her desire to have a grandson, and my mother often mentioned that if I had a child, my in-laws would be happy and they would support my brother's work even more.

My husband was the same. He often read parenting magazines and said he would be the best father in the world.

In order to get pregnant, I suffered a lot and finally became pregnant two years ago.

But when I was less than four months pregnant, I was hit by a car that ran a red light on a rainy night while trying to save someone.

Blood flowed all over the ground, and I lost my child.

The doctor looked at my pale face and sighed deeply, saying that I would never be able to conceive again.

Emily's face darkened on the spot and she angrily rushed over to hit me.

"Unlucky wretch! Are you trying to exterminate the Lowell family? How heartless you are! You murderer! Give my grandson back to me!"

Emily was slightly held back by Bruce Lowell, but Bruce also looked at me with great disappointment.

"Why did you save people when so many people passed by? Couldn't you think about the child?"

Why didn't I think about the baby in my belly?

I hadn't had a sound sleep in two years. I often asked myself why I didn't think about the child in my belly.

I didn't know.

Chapter 3

It was already dark when I got home. I fumbled to open the door and saw Bruce sitting in the living room, looking tired.

"Where have you been? Why are you back so late? Why didn't you cook dinner?"

I hid the hospital bag behind me and answered with my head down, "I just went out for a walk and didn't notice the time."

Bruce suddenly stood up and scolded me harshly.

"Daisy Hill, now that you don't work and don't earn money, can't you even do the housework? Did you go out to loiter on purpose, knowing that I would come back for dinner?"

With the child gone, our marriage completely fell apart.

I was completely dispirited and couldn't go out to work or interact with people. I could only rely on Bruce.

I tried to please him, "I'm sorry, I'll pay attention next time and won't forget. Can I cook for you now? It's not too late."

Bruce impatiently went back to the room and slammed the door loudly, "No need!"

After knowing that I could no longer conceive, I tried to bring up the idea of divorcing Bruce.

The Lowell family loved children so much that they shouldn't let me stop them.

Before I could mention it, my parents stopped me and warned me not to speak out of turn.

"Why do you mention divorce when the Lowell family doesn't? We don't agree! Dylan is about to get promoted at work. If you get divorced and lose the support of the Lowell family, how will Dylan fare in the company in the future?"

"Who would marry a divorced woman who can't have children? Do you want to rely on your parents?"

"If you divorce Bruce, you will never be allowed back into our family. You've harmed your child, and do you want to harm your brother?"

There was a big gap in family background between me and Bruce. Lowell family had a big, well-known company. If it weren't for Bruce's wholehearted love, I wouldn't have been able to marry into it.

But now, Bruce didn't love me anymore.

Even if I put the hospital's examination report in such an obvious place, he couldn't see it.
