Chapter 1
On the wedding day, Ethan called me, and I left everyone behind and went to send the briefcase to him in my wedding dress.
When I got to the hotel, I realized it was her medicine instead of important documents in the briefcase.
I had prayed for the wedding for years, but he was absent on the wedding day because he wanted to stay with her, who was suffering from depression.
He even asked me to send the medicine for her.
How ridiculous!
When I walked out of the hotel, I was informed that my mom, who was seriously ill, had died at my wedding.
She never saw me get married until she died.
And I couldn't be with her because of the medicine.
At this time, Linda posted a photo of her and Ethan holding hands in her Moments. [Thank you for treating me as your only love. You are the only one I love.]
I held my mom's photo and smiled, "The scum and the bitch, what a perfect match!"
——
I didn't waste my wedding and turned it into my mom's funeral.
During the funeral, the wedding dress was eye-catching.
After the funeral, I sat in front of the photo all night.
My mom was frugal all her life.
She liked cleanliness and disliked ostentation.
Therefore, I chose a silver frame for her photo.
At dawn, I wiped away my tears.
I packed my luggage and was about to go to my hometown.
My dad's grave was there.
When I was about to leave, Ethan went in with Linda, talking and laughing.
Ethan was stunned when he saw me carrying the luggage.
Linda glanced at Ethan and suddenly came to me. She held my luggage and said humbly, "Julissa, I'm sorry. I didn't know it was your wedding yesterday. I felt uncomfortable and wanted to kill myself. I was wrong. Next time, I won't disturb you. It was all my fault. If you want to blame someone, blame me. Don't be angry with Ethan."
As she spoke, she looked pitiful.
I said nothing. For a moment, Linda didn't know what to do next and felt embarrassed.
Ethan gently held Linda's hand. He frowned and scolded me, "That's enough! Why do you like to make such a fuss? She's apologized to you. What else do you want her to do?"
Seeing him, I wanted to laugh. "Didn't I send her the life-saving medicine yesterday? I deserve she do anything to thank me."
Linda's face turned pale.
Seeing that, Ethan became gloomy. "That's enough! It was just a wedding. I'll make up for you, OK?"
What?
I glanced at the photo in my hands.
I thought, "How can you make up? With your self-righteousness?"
"Ethan, let's break up."
I saw a hint of triumph flash across Linda's eyes.
Yes.
She succeeded, and I didn't want to stay with Ethan anymore.
She could stay with her.
"Julissa, can you be mature?"
Ethan shook his head in disappointment. "As Mrs. Stewart, can you be more tolerant? Don't you know that people with depression are fragile and can easily lose their minds?"
"Is there anything more valuable than life?"
His words were ridiculous.
"Well, you're right."
I hugged my mom's photo tightly and wanted to walk out without any desire to continue the talk.
Seeing that, Ethan was at a loss.
In his opinion, I never dared to treat him like this.
However, Linda was by his side.
Linda noticed that I was protective of the frame in my arms, so she immediately stopped me.
She pointed at the frame and asked, "Ethan is talking to you. Why are you in such a hurry to leave? What's that?"
"It's none of your business."
I slapped her hand away.
I wouldn't allow her to point at my mom.
"Ah!"
Linda immediately held her hand and looked at Ethan pitifully.
"Julissa, you disappoint me so much. I think I should discuss our marriage with your mom again."
Ethan held Linda in his arms, looking around.
"She's not here."
I feel ridiculous.
My mom had died, but he didn't even know it.
"It's fine if you make a scene, but you shouldn't have your mom move out. Don't you know she's ill?"
Ethan frowned and looked at me, and his eyes were full of disappointment.
I sneered and said nothing.
Seeing my expression, Ethan suddenly said in a cold voice, "Isn't she sick?"
"Ethan, I told you that they had been lying to you. Her mom pretended to be sick, and now they want to run away from home. They are trying to make you marry her."
"That old woman taught her daughter how to force you. Now, she left and wanted to blackmail you."
"They could do this because they took the chance to help you when were you in trouble."
Linda seemed to find out something and started to speak loudly.
"Slap!"
Before she finished her words, I stepped forward and slapped her.
Chapter 2
"Julissa!"
Ethan was angry.
He walked forward and pushed me away, pulling Linda behind him to protect her.
I fell to the floor and felt dizzy.
After calming down, I endured the pain and slowly stood up.
Fortunately, my mom's photo was not broken.
Seeing me stand up, Ethan said coldly, "If you apologize now, I can pretend that nothing happened. Otherwise..."
"Otherwise?"
"Ethan, we have been together for so many years. Do you remember how my mom treated you?"
I looked at him and said, "You can ignore me for this woman, but you should be respectful for my mom."
Ethan was stunned.
Six years ago.
Ethan's parents died in an accident, leaving behind an unsolved case. It was rumored that his parents embezzled the severance pay of tens of thousands of employees, causing many people to be homeless and unable to make ends meet.
The Stewart family underwent a drastic change, and Ethan, who was the heir, fell from grace overnight.
Due to the deliberate targeting of some people, he even had problems with food and clothing.
At this time, Linda was coincidentally arranged by her parents to go abroad.
Suddenly, Ethan was helpless.
He used to be a wealthy young man but had to do a part-time job clumsily. He was looked down upon.
I took out almost all of my scholarship and savings to help and protect him.
I worked part-time, made money, and studied with him. We faced the rumors together.
At the worst time, almost everyone in the school isolated and targeted him, and I became depressed because of that.
It was my mom who was so indignant that she talked to the principal and even threatened him to kill herself.
Therefore, Ethan completed his studies.
At that time, he said with tearful eyes that he would never forget us.
Later, the dispute about the Stewart family ended, and Ethan's parents were rehabilitated.
The Stewart family became wealthy again.
After growing up strong with my company, he soon became the youngest host of the Stewart family.
Everything was getting better.
At this time, Linda suddenly went home.
That day, she just stood in front of Ethan without even explaining or saying a word. However, Ethan ran toward her madly and hugged her tightly, leaving me aside.
From that day on, Linda was between us.
I had been devoted to him for several years and had been with him through thick and thin, but the first one to enjoy a better life was Linda.
I knew that it was the power of the first love, and I understood his feelings.
After Ethan's parents died, Linda was the only friend he had played with since childhood.
But I didn't expect Linda to be such a person.
She accompanied Ethan to business gatherings.
At a family gathering, I stood aside and watched Ethan and Linda holding hands and being affectionate.
It was always she and Ethan to appear in public.
I could only complain to my mom at home.
Others all knew that I was Ethan's girlfriend, but I was never the one by his side.
While Ethan and I were in a daze, Linda sobbed with tearful eyes, "It hurts."
"No matter what, it's wrong for you to hit Linda."
"I will ask Linda apologize to your mom, but you have to apologize to Linda."
When Ethan saw Linda, his tone was unquestionable.
"What if I don't?"
"Julissa, don't go too far."
"I won't possibly apologize."
As soon as I finished my words, Linda, who was crying and sitting on the ground, suddenly stood up and slapped me.
I lost my footing and felt like someone kicked me.
When I fell to the ground, I subconsciously protected the frame in my arms.
Then, I got hit a few more times until Linda ran out of strength.
"How dare you hit me? Few people dare hit me."
I felt pain in my body. When I saw the high heels Linda was wearing, I knew that I must have several bruises.
"Don't pretend to be hurt. Linda is weak. It doesn't hurt when she hits you."
Seeing me lying on the ground, Ethan was impatient.
He glanced at the frame in my arms and felt annoyed. "It's because of the photo. Since Linda wanted to see it, why didn't show it to her?"
As he said that, Ethan kicked the frame, and I couldn't stop her.
I could only watch as she broke the frame.
The glasses were scattered all over the ground.
"Why is it broken?"
Linda looked innocent. "I didn't do that on purpose."
Ethan frowned and looked at the frame in deep thought.
And I just felt my mind go blank.
"OK, we're even. I'll make arrangements to hold another wedding. And regarding your mom's illness, I've invited the best doctors abroad."
"If she is sick, they will cure her. If she is not sick, you can't hide it. You know I hate people lying to me."
"Stay at home and behave yourself. Don't make trouble."
"Come to me when you realize your mistakes. Have you heard me?"
Ethan took Linda's hand and ordered me.
"Mom, here is not our home. We have to go," I muttered.
I ignored Ethan's words and wanted to pick up the frame on the ground.
At this moment, Ethan was shocked.
He looked at the photo in the frame in disbelief, his lips trembling. "Has your mom died?"
"I'm sorry, Julissa. I didn't know. How could she die? Didn't she pretend to be sick to trick me into marrying you?"
"It's impossible."
Ethan looked at the photo in despair and wanted to touch it.
I pushed him away.
"Stay away from my mom!"
