Chapter 3
I witnessed the whole thing.
I saw Amira Harrington grab a baseball bat and, with two loud bangs, dent the car's body.
She looked satisfied with the result.
Thinking it wasn't enough, she hit the car a few more times.
After confirming the surveillance cameras had captured her damaging the car, she clapped her hands in triumph and left.
That night, she dreamed of the CEO coming to her with a marriage proposal, taking her to his vast mansion, throwing her onto his enormous bed, and making love to her, and that she lived a life of luxury as a wealthy young lady.
...
The next day, the doorbell rang, waking her from her dream.
...
But it wasn't the CEO waiting for her. It was the police with handcuffs.
At the police station, she arrogantly declared, "I smashed my future husband's car. What right do you have to arrest me?"
The police were taken aback, thinking it was a lover's spat involving a luxury car.
...
They thought to themselves that rich people were so extravagant, smashing a Maybach like it was nothing.
Then the lawyer arrived, and everyone's attitude towards her changed.
...
Although she appeared crazy, the lawyer didn't let her off.
She was sued!
When she called me, she was laughing so hard she could barely stand. She even said confidently, "I'm not afraid of his lawsuit. Just wait and see how I win him over."
Chapter 4
The next day, I saw Amira in my boss's office.
The door was slightly ajar.
A crowd of colleagues had gathered to watch the show.
When Rachael Petty saw me, she pulled me over and said, "Helen, come over. There's a crazy woman here. She is hilarious!"
Having worked in the CEO's office for so many years, it was the first time I had seen something straight out of a novel. No wonder everyone was so excited.
I heard Amira's self-righteous voice from inside. "Ethan Carter, how can you do this to me? I did smash your car, but I apologized just now. What else do you want?
"How could you let the lawyer sue me? Is your heart made of stone?
"Besides, you are not innocent in this matter. Why did you park your car on the street? If you hadn't parked your car there, I wouldn't have smashed it.
"Anyway, I don't have money, so I'll just give myself to you as compensation."
Then rustling sounds came from inside.
My colleagues were thrilled. "Oh my god, she's really taking off her clothes. She is crazy."
As we enjoyed the show, our boss's angry voice rang out.
"Where is everyone? Call security now!"
The assistant to the CEO was startled and quickly ran to his desk to call security.
Then Amira sobbed, "Ethan, I know I owe you money, but how can you humiliate me like this? You're just a rich guy. What's so impressive about that?"
My boss was furious and said, "It's quite impressive. My wealth attracts lunatics like you, doesn't it?
"I don't know how you got in here, but you have two choices: put your clothes back on and leave, or I'll have security escort you out."
I could imagine how dark Amira's expression was right now.
She stubbornly replied, "You've misunderstood. I came here to explain. I can't afford the repair costs, but I can offer myself to you until the debt is cleared."
Good heavens!
That was 30 thousand dollars.
Even if she earned 10 thousand a month, it would take 30 months to pay it off without spending a dime.
My boss, being smart, saw through her intentions immediately.
He coldly replied, "I told you, discuss it with my lawyer!"
Amira wanted to say something else, but the security guards arrived and dragged her out, her clothes disheveled, just before my boss lost his temper.
...
She clung to the door frame with both hands, unwilling to give up, and shouted, "Ethan, you can't do this to me. You'll regret it."
As soon as she was out, my colleagues hurried back to their seats, but their eyes kept darting towards her.
Afraid she'd recognize me, I lowered my head.
But to my disappointment, although she was not very smart, her eyes were quite sharp.
When she saw me, she was overjoyed and said loudly, "Helen, tell them to let me go. I have more to say."
Terrified, I buried my head even deeper.
Seeing I ignored her, Amira cursed angrily, "Helen Sanford, how can you not help me? How can you be so heartless? Helen..."
She kept yelling as she was dragged away by the security guards.
After she left, my colleagues surrounded me. Someone asked, "You know her?"
I shook my head vigorously. "How could I know such a crazy woman?"
I'd never admit knowing her. It was too embarrassing!
Chapter 5
I had been avoiding Amira ever since that day.
I didn't answer her calls or reply to her messages, but that day, she cornered me at my front door.
She glared at me angrily and said, "Why didn't you answer my calls?"
I casually replied, "I've been busy with work and didn't hear them."
Mentioning work seemed to perk her up.
Her expression instantly changed from anger to joy, and she affectionately linked her arm with mine. "Helen."
Goosebumps instantly spread across my arms.
She pretended to be magnanimous and said, "I can forgive you for not helping me that day and not answering my calls recently, but you have to help me.
"After I marry your boss, I will definitely repay you."
I sneered inwardly.
Marry my boss?
My boss won't want to see you and will have you thrown out again.
"Helen, what does your boss like? Does he have a girlfriend?"
It happened again!
In my past life, she also tried to pry information about my boss from me.
I told her that my boss was already engaged to a wealthy and beautiful girl he'd known since they were kids, and who was of the same social standing.
She scoffed dismissively, saying, "What's a childhood sweetheart compared to a cute girl suddenly coming into his life? She's only fit to be my supporting character."
In her mind, she was the heroine of this world, and everyone should revolve around her.
My boss's fiancée was just an evil supporting character standing in the way of her happiness, while I was merely the expendable sidekick.
But sorry!
That was just her fantasy.
Everyone is the protagonist of their own story.
I didn't hide the fact that my boss had a fiancée.
As expected, she didn't seem fazed at all.
She said, "All CEOs have fiancées. The one who laughs last is the real winner."
Then she naturally ordered me, "Helen, keep an eye on Ethan for me and tell me his daily schedule. If he sees me enough, he'll definitely fall in love with me."
Looking at her plain face, which could easily blend into a crowd, I fell silent.
She was so overly confident that I almost wished I could share my inferiority complex with her.
I didn't agree to her unreasonable request. "Spying on the boss and leaking his schedule could cost me my job."
She pouted in dissatisfaction. "You won't help me with this little thing? Are you still my friend?
"Besides, what you might lose is just a job, but I might lose the love of my life."
What the fuck?
You love has nothing to do with me.
How dare you compare your cheap love with my precious job!
My job is a thousand times more important than you.
You giant idiot.
As I wouldn't budge, she stomped her foot in anger and said, "I can get his schedule without your help. But just so you know, once I become his wife, I won't help you. Don't blame me then."
I shrugged indifferently.
After all, in this life and the last, she could only dream about it.
Having been given a second chance at life, all I wanted was to stay far away from her and watch her dig her own grave!
...
