Chapter 2

Bradley, who originally felt guilty towards me, suddenly changed his expression.

He subconsciously protected Qiana behind him, his eyes were cold. "Nicole, what are you doing!"

I glared at Qiana. "You'd better keep your mouth clean."

Qiana was aggrieved. "Was I wrong? If your mother hadn't pretended to be sick and threatened Bradley, how could he marry you?"

I looked at Bradley. "Do you think so too?"

He didn't answer.

But I got the answer from his eyes.

Half a year ago, my mother was diagnosed with advanced gastric cancer. She knew she didn't have much time left, and her greatest wish before she died was to see me marry the person I loved and have a good husband.

In order to let my mother rest in peace, I begged Bradley desperately and even knelt down in front of him to ask for this wedding.

But he thought my mother was pretending, just to force him to marry me.

Maybe he always looked down on me from the bottom of his heart.

He was a specially privileged man and the heir of the Xavier Group. I fell in love with him at first sight in college and shamelessly pursued him for four years.

Bradley liked obedient women, so I obeyed him in everything and let him have whatever he wanted.

But after meeting Qiana, I realized that he could be gentle.

Qiana could act like a spoiled child and fool around with him, she could also hold his hands and hug him.

She did all the things I wanted to do but didn't dare to do.

One time, I acted like Qiana to be like a spoiled child, but he pushed me away with a cold face. "Nicole, you are really not suitable for this."

I felt like I was slapped in the face in public. I felt embarrassed and watched him leave.

After that, I never acted like a spoiled child to him again.

He never even took the initiative to hold my hand. When we were together, I was always one step behind him. The only person who could stand side by side with him was Qiana, and he never refused Qiana's touch.

Being with him, I had nothing except the title of girlfriend.

Even in the eyes of outsiders, he and Qiana were a couple.

He brought her in public and introduced her to everyone.

If it weren't for my mother's limited time and my repeated requests, there would never have been that ridiculous wedding.

I looked at Bradley with disappointment.

This was the man I had loved for almost ten years. I suddenly began to doubt what I saw in him in the first place.

Qiana was still embroidering. "Bradley, come and see if my face is swollen. How could she be so vicious? My face hurts."

Bradley's attention returned to her immediately.

I used all my strength in that slap, and there were clearly visible finger marks on her face.

Bradley's expression suddenly turned ugly. "Nicole, apologize!"

"What if I don't?"

Chapter 3

I raised my head and my eyes were filled with stubbornness.

Bradley suppressed his anger. "Nicole, don't make me angry."

To be honest, I had always been afraid of Bradley. Whenever he frowned, I would subconsciously give in and admit my mistakes, and he wouldn't even need to say a word.

That was because I cared about him at that time.

But now I don't care about anything.

However, Qiana was not satisfied with this. "Bradley, I don't want her to apologize. She hit me, I want her to pay back."

Hearing this, Bradley glanced at me, trying to make me give in.

But I still looked rebellious.

My attitude provoked him. Bradley deliberately wanted to teach me a lesson.

With one glance, his two bodyguards came out of nowhere and held me down.

I didn't have the strength to struggle, and I didn't even want to struggle.

Qiana walked up to me proudly, raised her hand and slapped me a few times.

Blood flowed from the corners of my mouth.

I said nothing and sat down on the ground in discomfiture.

Bradley looked down at me and said, "You owe Qiana this. Apologize to her now and I can pretend that nothing happened!"

I suddenly laughed.

"You wish!"

Bradley narrowed his eyes and said, "Nicole, as long as you are obedient, I can give you everything you want, including marriage. Have you really thought it through?"

He didn't want to give to me when I wanted.

Now I don't want it anymore, but he was trying to use threats and inducements to make me compromise.

I endured the pain on my face and said coldly, "Bradley, I have said the break-up, and I will not marry you."

Maybe it was because I loved him too much before, Bradley didn't believe that I would leave him. Let alone he promised me the marriage I had always dreamed of.

He sneered. "What? Don't you want to fulfill your mother's dying wish?"

I detected a hint of contempt in his words.

But before I could say anything, Qiana seemed to have caught something on me. "Bradley, I said she was lying to you. If her mother was really dying, how could she have such an attitude? Don't be fooled by her."

I couldn't stand it anymore. "Shut up, you have no right to talk about my mother."

My continuous disobedience completely infuriated Bradley.

"I hope you won't regret it."

Bradley sneered and called his assistant. To make sure I could hear clearly, he turned on the speaker.

"Caleb, I asked you to contact Matching Together this morning, now cancel it."

Matching Together was the best wedding company in the country.

"And cancel Mrs. Simpson's surgery."

Bradley thought he could threaten me, so he stared at me while he spoke.

I just looked at him without any reaction.

Caleb hesitated for a moment, and finally spoke, "Mr. Xavier, Mrs. Simpson passed away three days ago, on the day of your wedding!"
