Inside the room, they whispered to each other but didn't open the door.

"That woman must be crazy. When is she going to leave?"

That was Aleena's boyfriend speaking.

"Honey, she's spoiled and has a bunch of petty princess habits. We shouldn't argue with people like that."

That was Aleena's voice.

"You paid rent, so why shouldn't I live here? I think she's just jealous because she's single and envious of us! She claims to be paying most of the rent. I think she should pay more if she's rich. Besides, who knows where she gets her money from? Maybe she's doing something despicable and wants to force you out to hide it!"

Her boyfriend's voice grew louder as if he wanted the whole building to hear.

I had once felt sympathy for Aleena's boyfriend, who lived off her.

His daily expenses were paid by Aleena, but he even used her money to tip streamers and go to the hotel with younger girls on campus.

I had advised Aleena more than once to break up with him, but she'd only reconciled with him and even boasted about it.

"Honey, my roommate Janessa said you don't deserve me and that I should break up with you.

"But I'm not willing to let you go. If you make me angry again, I'll listen to Janessa and dump you!"

I tried to help her, but she used me to boost her worth.

Thinking about how my three years of hard work might be in vain, I flew into a rage.

The thought of lying on a bed tainted with their scent every night made me feel like thousands of bugs were crawling over me, almost making me vomit.

But inside, they acted as if I didn't exist, laughing and talking, with Aleena occasionally cursing me for being selfish.

Aleena's boyfriend, Reuben Odom, glared at me and cursed.

"Are you fucking crazy?

"What if I slept in your room today? Call the police if you want!

"If you knock again, I'll fucking kill you! Get lost, bitch!"

Behind him, Aleena sat on the bed with a cold and provocative smile.

How dare he provoke me?!

I was so enraged by these two idiots, so I pulled out my phone to call the police.

Aleena didn't expect that I would actually call the cops. Her face turned pale.

As my finger was about to press the call button, a sudden force slammed into me.

The phone flew out of my hand, hitting the ground and cracking the screen protector.

I collided with the door behind me, making a muffled thud as a wave of pain surged through my body, escaping a pained groan.

Aleena didn't even glance at me. She rushed to the phone, finding the screen shattered.

She was worried that the phone wasn't broken enough, so she stomped on it with another hard kick.

The screen went completely black.

Only then did she let out a sigh of relief and smirk triumphantly.

She turned to me with an innocent expression.

"Janessa, I didn't do it on purpose. You didn't hold on to it properly, so it's not my fault."

Her subtly smug expression made me so mad.

Did this idiot think that without a phone, I couldn't call for help?

In high-end neighborhoods like this, there was usually an emergency call button at the entrance.

It was connected to the security room, where security personnel appeared within a minute to handle situations.

In front of them, I pressed the button.

"Hello, security?

"Strangers have entered apartment 706, building 34, and have assaulted the owner. Please come immediately!"

Reuben snorted dismissively.

"Are you trying to scare me? Listen, I've taken plenty of photos of you and that girl named Carly while living here. If you call the police, I'll post them all online."

I was shocked, staring at Aleena.

Her eyes were initially evasive, but then she glared back at me defiantly.

Clearly, she was in on it.

Reuben, thinking I was intimidated by him, smirked triumphantly.

"This is just a lesson for you. If you ever bully my girlfriend again, I'll make sure you will be notorious in the university!

"By the way, get out of the master bedroom before tonight. From now on, that room belongs to Aleena. Since you've paid for the rent, why should you get the biggest and best room? Damn, you're testing my patience."
