Chapter 1

The stalker fan of my celebrity boyfriend thought I was defiling her idol, and actually came to my door to torture me to death.

On the day I was murdered, he was rehearsing lines with a famous actress, and hung up on my call for help.

When we met again, all that was left of me was a handful of ashes.

Yet, he went mad, inserting himself into the investigation of the stalker fan.

——

On the day the stalker fan showed up at my door, I was at home reading a script.

It was past midnight and Jaylen hadn’t returned.

The night was terrifyingly dark.

Suddenly, a knock at the door startled me in the silent darkness.

“Who is it?”

No answer came from outside; the knocking continued.

I was puzzled, thinking it might be Jaylen since he often avoids unnecessary talk and ignores my questions.

I opened the door without any suspicion.

Unexpectedly, it wasn’t Jaylen at the door, but a strange woman.

“Hello, may I ask who you are looking for?”

I was taken aback by the woman in front of me wearing a mask.

The woman didn’t speak but instead measured me with a chilling gaze.

A bad feeling surged within me, and I turned to close the door.

But the woman suddenly stepped forward, blocked my hand, and pushed me away forcefully.

I fell hard on the floor, groaning in pain.

After entering, the woman quickly locked the door behind her.

Her actions made me realize she was up to no good.

“What... what do you want?”

I scrambled to my feet, instinctively backing away.

The woman still didn’t speak but slowly advanced towards me.

Her eyes were like a predator eyeing its prey, sending chills through me.

“Don’t come any closer!”

Panicked, I screamed and ran upstairs.

But the woman was faster. She caught up to me, grabbed my hair, and threw me violently onto the sofa.

I was dazed by the impact, seeing stars.

“Who... who are you? What do you want?”

I struggled desperately, trying to escape.

But the woman easily overpowered me.

“You’re Rachel Jenkins, Jaylen’s woman, right?”

She finally spoke, her voice hoarse and sinister, making it uncomfortable to listen.

“How... how do you know my name?”

I stared at her in shock, more and more panicked.

The woman sneered.

“Jaylen’s so amazing. What makes you think you deserve him? You’re just holding him back! If you were gone... he’d be all mine...”

Her face was manic.

I felt a chill in my heart.

This must be one of Jaylen’s stalker fans.

I was more terrified now.

Stalker fans are fans who exhibit extreme enthusiasm and can often perform extreme actions.

I never thought I would provoke such kind of person.

“Don’t mess around. Jaylen won’t let you off!”

I trembled, attempting to threaten her.

But the woman didn’t care and instead looked excited.

“You can bet that once you’re gone, his career will skyrocket. He’ll be thanking me, you’ll see.”

With that, she pulled out a bottle of liquid from her bag.

I didn’t know what it was.

She approached me with the bottle, pinched my jaw, and forced the liquid down my throat.

The pungent liquid burned as it passed through my throat. The pain was excruciating, and I screamed in agony, but my voice was getting weaker.

My vision blurred, and I watched as the woman laughed maniacally and left...

I knew I couldn’t hold on much longer.

With my last bit of strength, I reached for my phone and dialed Jaylen.

The phone rang a few times before it was answered.

“Hello? What is it?”

Jaylen’s tone was as cold as ever.

Hearing his voice, I couldn’t help but let the tears flow.

“Jaylen... save me...”

Chapter 2

Jaylen Green and I grew up together, and we’ve always been close.

His parents were always busy and couldn’t take care of him, so he grew up in my house.

My parents treated him like their own, giving him the best care.

Jaylen was also very sensible, always helping my parents with chores.

My parents had wanted a son but were too busy with work to have more children.

After having Jaylen, they decided not to have any more kids.

Thus, Jaylen and I grew up together like childhood sweethearts.

When I was sixteen, my parents died in an accident.

At the time, Jaylen and I were still in school.

Jaylen’s parents wanted to take him back, but he refused, insisting on staying with me.

His parents had no choice but to let him stay.

From then on, we depended on each other.

We entered the show business together; my career was mediocre, always a minor extra, but Jaylen worked hard and became a top star within a few years.

His fans were all over the country, and his influence was immense.

He made a lot of money and bought me a villa, putting it solely in my name.

I was touched and found his naivety endearing.

We continued to live together and naturally became husband and wife.

Jaylen was busy and often out filming.

At home, I took care of everything, leaving no time to further my own career.

I thought we would continue to live happily.

Until Allison Perry appeared.

Allison was a rising star. Though she only recently debuted, she had already clinched a prestigious film award for best actress. Not only was she stunning, but her acting skills were also commendable.

I saw her once.

That day, I visited Jaylen’s film set.

The two of them stood together, and I saw Jaylen smile outside of a film for the first time.

They looked great together.

I looked down at my old white shirt and felt too embarrassed to go in.

She was filming with Jaylen, playing a married couple.

The two developed feelings through the film, sparking a romance.

The paparazzi caught many photos of them together, but I didn’t care at first because Jaylen said it was the company arranging a publicity stunt.

But gradually, I noticed he changed.

He started coming home late, or often did not return all night.

Every time he came back, he smelled of women’s perfume.

That scent was familiar; it was Allison’s.

I became anxious.

Jaylen and I had grown up together, and I always thought we would be together.

But I forgot that the human heart was the easiest thing to change.

One day, as usual, I called him to ask when he’d be home.

Jaylen said he had something to deal with and wouldn’t come back that night.

I didn’t say anything, and quietly hung up.

The next day, Jaylen came home still carrying that perfume scent.

He looked tired, as if he hadn’t rested well.

I couldn’t help but ask him:

“Where were you last night?”

Jaylen was taken aback.

He probably didn’t expect the usually compliant me to question him.

“Last night I was discussing the script with Allison, and it got late, so I slept over there.”

His response was casual, as if there was nothing wrong.

My heart ached, and I had a big fight with him.

But all I got in return was this:

“Rachel, can you look at yourself in the mirror? You’re acting like a crazy person.”

Chapter 3

On the other end of the phone, there was prolonged silence.

During those silent seconds, many thoughts raced through my mind.

Would Jaylen come to rescue me?

My vision was blurring, and consciousness was slipping away.

My stomach hurt terribly, as if a knife was twisting inside.

“Rachel, I told you, I’m rehearsing with Allison. Don’t overthink it, okay? I’ll be back after we wrap up in a few days, then...”

I didn’t catch the rest of his words.

Amidst the spinning room, all I heard was his refusal.

Jaylen...
