Chapter 1
As I was subjected to brutal punishment, mutilated, and reduced to grotesque, my husband, Hugo Sheldon, was inspecting cars to his idealized love, Renee Godfrey.
Hugo hung up the phone and said, "Are you done? Who are you putting on this show for?"
A few days later, he received a case about a massacre.
Looking at the body, he deduced that the killer was a pervert and extremely cruel!
But he didn't know that the one who was killed was his wife!
——
After I was mutilated into small parts by brutal punishment, parts of my body were thrown at the entrance of the police station.
The police found my body in scattered pieces near a smelly drain not far from the police station.
They kept hitting and pulling me out of the cement barrel bit by bit.
But in the end, they discovered that my belly had been cut open and my head was missing!
The police believed it was a premeditated murder.
My husband, Hugo, served as the Captain of the Criminal Investigation Brigade, a seasoned police officer with vast experience.
The forensic handed him the report and said, "The deceased, female, between 25 and 30 years old, died from... being tortured to excessive blood loss! The limbs of the deceased are not intact, and the right palm is missing! There are signs of assault on the body; the abdomen is cut open, and only the back of the head remains, which means someone had cut off her entire face! In addition, the deceased was pregnant, and the baby was already formed. However, no baby's body was found near the corpse!"
"Beast!" One police said.
The police officers next to Hugo were furious after hearing this.
"This is simply torture and killing. Such behavior is clearly venting their anger!"
"However, the perpetrators with such methods either have powerful psychological qualities or are perverts!"
"They threw the pieces of the body at the door, and they are demonstrating against us!"
A group of people were discussing animatedly.
Only Hugo frowned, seemingly lost in thought.
Instantly, his eyes lit up as he stared at the report! "It's those people!" he said.
At that moment, everyone gasped!
The people Hugo mentioned were a drug trafficking organization and also their mortal enemies.
Every year, many innocent people die at their hands.
Just recently, the police officers found their hideout and were preparing to bring them to justice, but unexpectedly, the leader managed to escape.
Now, they believed this was the leader's retaliation against the police officers, or rather, a provocation!
Chapter 2
Just when they were at a loss, a package was delivered to the police station.
"Hugo, is it Rory who gave you the birthday gift?" One asked.
Upon hearing someone mention me, Hugo's face was filled with disdain.
"Just throw it away!" Hugo said.
The police officer on the side saw this scene and couldn't help but come forward to comfort him.
"Rory is just a woman, and there are many things she cannot prevent from happening. You should let go..." Speaking, the police casually opened the package.
After opening it, they saw a beautiful doll inside.
"Look, this doll was quite pretty!" The surrounding police officer joked.
"I knew it was useless, just a waste. Does she think that by doing these things, I will pay more attention to her? Disgusting!" Hugo casually picked up the doll and carefully examined it as he spoke.
At the next moment, the originally pure white doll suddenly oozed blood.
Hugo casually threw the doll aside, muttering, "Only know playing these little tricks, really lacking in taste."
Despite not fully grasping the situation, those around Hugo eventually came to a realization. They all assumed it was merely a prank on my part.
"It's really disgusting!" Hugo cursed and walked towards the bathroom.
The colleague on the side said, "You two can't keep going like this. Maybe she's trying to give you a way out. You need to talk to her!"
Hugo said without looking back, "I have nothing to talk about with her; it would be better if she were dead! She's not worth a moment of my time."
I floated aside, but I felt terrible.
"He said it would be better if I died; I was not worth a moment of his time. Then, who was he willing to share his time with? Was she Renee?" I thought.
When I first found out I was pregnant, I called Hugo immediately.
But what I got in return was an indifferent reply, "Pregnant? Can you change your tactics? I told you, now Nancy needs someone to take care of her. Can you stop causing trouble!"
"Now, I won't cause trouble anymore. I fulfilled Hugo's wish; I died!" I thought.
That disfigured corpse, that was me!
Chapter 3
Hugo and his colleagues had been busy for several days, but still no news. They analyzed everything they could analyze.
"There have been no reports of missing women in the vicinity!"
"No such report has been filed."
"The DNA analysis has failed to identify the deceased. The individual appeared to have had no criminal record before her death!"
A group in the room smoked one cigarette after another without any clue.
"If someone in a family has been missing for so long, they will definitely be found by their family. Why didn't any family member report the death of this person?"
A police officer, holding a cigarette, said in confusion and continued, "Could it be an orphan?"
Hugo rubbed his eyes and kept thinking. Suddenly, he opened his eyes and said, "If we find the definite part, there must be evidence to prove the deceased's identity! Let's find her face if we still can't determine!"
At this moment, I looked at the doll he threw away and kept trying to pick it up.
Hugo, the evidence you want was in this doll, but you threw it away with your own hands!
Hugo continued to think and then said, "The crime scene!"
A standard murder scene contained evidence left behind by the perpetrator. Even more chilling, there had been instances where deranged killers had revisited their crime scenes for their own twisted pleasure.
"What motive drove the murderer to dismember the victim into numerous pieces and subsequently conceal some of the body parts?" Hugo inquired.
"Because! The hidden parts can prove the identity of the deceased!"
"Thus, we must locate the severed face of the deceased! Additionally, the fetus from within the abdomen must be recovered as well!"
When it came to the face, Hugo was stunned for a moment.
On my face, there was a teardrop mole. Hugo used to like touching my teardrop mole. He said that only beautiful people had it, and it was a rare beauty mark.
"The deceased was thrown into the police station. Could it be the gang seeking revenge?"
"That means, those people are seeking revenge!"
"Is there anyone in our department whose family member or relative is pregnant?"
Hearing this, Hugo couldn't help but raise his head.
"No, if it's a family member from our colleges in the bureau, we would be the first to receive the report!"
"But what if the family members don't know or are completely unaware?"
"Their goal is to retaliate against someone in our Criminal Investigation Brigade! Captain, is Rory pregnant?" One asked.
Hugo was stunned momentarily, then shook his head. "No, she's not!" Hugo said decisively.
"I did inform you when I found out I was pregnant, but you were busy tending to Renee then. You accused me of lying and told me to stop being dramatic, that it was all an illusion. And now, you've missed another crucial piece of the clues." I thought.
Among the many police officers, if one were to say who has offended the most people, it would definitely be Hugo. Over the years, he had destroyed dozens, if not hundreds, of criminal dens.
Hugo snapped out of his thoughts and quickly organized his ideas.
He divided everyone into groups and started visiting and investigating.
Just then, his phone suddenly rang. After seeing the call, he immediately walked out of the office.
"What's wrong? I'll be right there!"
I looked at his anxious look and knew without thinking who the person calling was Renee.
