Chapter 2
When I was with Asher, he would always come of his free will. He would punish me when he was unhappy.
A week ago, I suddenly lost my appetite. I felt nauseous at the sight of oily food. That day, I was uncomfortable, asking Asher to pick me up, but he had a conflict with me at that time.
He didn't have time to pick me up.
Impatiently, he answered my call. It was Kate's voice on the phone, "Asher, I'm not feeling well. Can you go see Natalya later?"
I couldn't control myself as I started vomiting into the toilet.
Asher said something vulgar and hung up on me directly.
I asked my friend to pick me up and went to the hospital. Per the doctor, I was three weeks pregnant. He told me to take good care of the baby.
I was so happy at that time. I even thought that this child might help improve the relationship between me and Asher. After hesitating for a long time, I sent him a WhatsApp message.
Fearing that I would disturb his work, I said, [Asher, I'm pregnant.]
His reply came quickly, a brief one, [Abort it.]
There was no emotion in it.
I had an abortion that day. Suddenly, I was convinced that the baby would not be happy once he was born, so I didn't want to take the risk.
Now I stood beside Asher and watched him seem to regret losing this child. Suddenly, I was a little pleased.
He walked around the living room a few times. In the end, he put down what he had in his hands and said lightly, "It's better this way. Then no one will say you got pregnant before getting married and judge you as someone without any self-restraint."
After saying that, he mentioned his busy work at the company and his recent plan to live in a company apartment.
He fled in a panic.
I touched my flat belly and said, "Sorry, we can't be your qualified parents."
I sat on the sofa, trying hard to recall my past with Asher.
When I met him, I was a good girl, and he was a poor little thing.
At that time, everyone said he was a bastard. He was different from what he was now. He always had nothing to eat. He was such a poor little thing. My family didn't dare to let me have fun with him.
One time, many people surrounded him in a corner and beat him. I stood up for the first time, saying that if they hit him again, I would call the police.
Then I played a recording of the police car and scared them away.
From that day on, we became friends.
He has told me more than once that I was his light and his first love.
But his family background was not good. His mother didn't care about him at all. She kept him for the sake of money. When she had no money, she put him in the Berg family's house, and his father would throw cash at him.
Asher had always been the kind of person who was not favored by the elders.
My parents wouldn't let me have contact with him. I could only meet him privately.
In college, I couldn't resist being with him. At that time, it seemed that my parents were extremely angry with me. They rushed over overnight and left in a hurry without flying into a rage in front of me.
After they went back, they cut off my financial support, saying they wanted to cut off ties with me. They even blocked my contact information.
During that time, Asher was working to support both of us for tuition and rent.
At that time, I seemed to have been possessed by love. I was incredibly happy even though he and I were living a miserable life. Later, the son of the original wife of Asher's father had a car accident and passed away.
He was brought back to the Berg family. After all, someone had to inherit the Berg family's business.
I felt like I had won a bet. Then he started to change. There was another girl around him, Kate. That was when I found out that he had a childhood sweetheart.
From then on, we went from being a couple to a trio. I was the one following behind.
We were no longer the pitiful couple who had nowhere to go and relied on each other.
Instead, we became a match that was not favored due to our mismatched backgrounds.
Chapter 3
Thinking about this, I suddenly realized that I didn't love Asher as much anymore.
The boy who once held me and promised to protect me forever had become a stranger due to the difference in our identities.
I tidied up and went to the hospital.
I had an abortion, but there was inflammation in my body. The doctor asked me to take some medicines and do another check-up.
I didn't expect to see Kate at the hospital. Without thinking, I knew it was Asher who had accompanied her. They were talking and laughing. Then they saw me and stopped smiling.
"Natalya, why are you also here? I'm not feeling well. Asher accompanied me here."
I didn't mind, making a sound of agreement. Then I wanted to get the medicine, but she stopped me. She said, "I'm so sorry about what happened that day. Asher didn't remark about your account, so I didn't know it was you. I thought it was someone else causing trouble, so I told her to get rid of the baby to avoid unnecessary trouble."
Kate spoke earnestly. I nodded, saying, "I understand. Is there anything else?"
Asher pulled me, saying, "Don't talk like that. When we get married, we will have a new child. It's not appropriate for this child to come to this world now."
I pushed him away, saying. "I said we broke up, Asher Berg. What's wrong with you? How come you are thinking about getting married?"
After saying that, I ignored him and planned to leave with the medicine.
Asher chased after me, saying, "Natalya, why did you take so much medicine? Are you not feeling well? Why didn't you tell me?"
"I won't bother you, Mr. Berg, with such a trivial matter."
I was too lazy to argue with him, so I left with the medicine.
Most of the causes leading to the situation today were because of me. In the early years, Asher was my only reliance and redemption. I wanted to show my consideration for how difficult it was for him, so I spoiled him like this.
He could punish me and leave me at free will.
Whenever Asher and I argued, I would always compromise first, while he remained aloof.
This time, we hadn't been in contact for so long. He seemed to have noticed a slight difference in me. But for someone who was used to being arrogant, he wouldn't give in first.
Asher wanted to argue with me, but Kate suddenly covered her head and said, "It hurt."
I sneered and lowered my head, thinking, "This move never fails with Asher."
All along, whenever I needed Asher, Kate would say she needed him too, but Asher never chose me once.
This time, amid his hesitant look, I stopped a car. Without thinking, I pulled the car door open and left.
