Chapter 2
I met Lucas in college.
At that time, I was the eSports goddess of the medical school, and I often passionately chatted on the mic to teammates who played poorly.
By chance, I was matched with Lucas.
Lucas was also poor at the game and I scolded him fiercely for one round.
After being scolded so much, Lucas couldn't stand it and suggested that we add each other on WhatsApp to argue.
So, I added Lucas on WhatsApp.
Just as I was about to passionately vent, Lucas sent a message to me.
"Are you Nicole Green from B University?"
"I'm sorry, my beauty. It's my fault, and I will practice hard."
Before I could say anything, the other side sent me messages with apologies.
Without much thought, I directly blacklisted him and solved the issue just like that.
But I didn't expect that Lucas really did practice the Hero game well.
One day, one month later, Lucas invited me to join a team with his gaming account.
By then, I had already forgotten that this was a teammate I had once criticized.
After joining the team, Lucas quickly started the game and then accused me of blocking him.
I ignored him and silently played the game, but the enemies were couples on the opposite side targeting me and killed me three times in a few minutes.
Just as I was preparing for the fourth death, Lucas' helper came down and took down the enemy couple.
"While I don't use my ultimate skill, how you dared to be addicted to bullying my goddess?"
I admit that Lucas was a bit handsome at that moment.
We lost that game, but Lucas was still very happy.
Facing the questioning and cursing from teammates, he just smiled and said that the game was less important than me.
Later, I didn't blacklist Lucas' WhatsApp and we started to contact each other more.
Not long after, I met him at B University cafeteria and we quickly established a romantic relationship.
Chapter 3
Lucas was very good to me, and we were recognized as the glamorous couple of B University, and were thought to definitely get married by our classmates.
After graduation, Lucas became a senior executive of a company, and his handsome appearance and high income made me envy by all my classmates.
But my happiness changed when Susan Lawrence, Lucas' childhood sweetheart, came back.
At first, it was just Lucas, who used to claim that the game was less important than me, chose to protect Susan, who was a mage in the game, and gave up on me.
Although he explained to me afterwards that it was just for the victory of the game, I still felt a little sad.
But Susan did not disappear from our lives.
She would shamelessly participate in Lucas' and my dates and ask me to take photos of her in the name of being his good buddy.
Lucas also connive this childhood sweetheart of his, although it would always end up when he apologized to me afterwards and asked me to forgive Susan.
Later, Susan would be in the car that Lucas picked me up from work.
At first, Susan just sat in the back seat of the car and interrupted our conversation.
Until one rainy day, when I opened the passenger seat of Lucas' car as usual, I found her sitting there.
"Nicole, let Susan sit in the front because she gets carsick."
Susan didn't say anything, but Lucas was the first to speak to her to ease the situation.
After sitting in the back for so long, she started to get carsick now?
I rolled my eyes, crossed my arms, and looked at Susan, showing no intention of giving in.
"Nicole, I'm really sorry, I'm not feeling well today, so let me sit in the front now."
Susan looked at me with a pitiful look, as if I had done something rude to her, and she was about to cry in the next second.
"If you're not feeling well, you can take a taxi and sit in the front seat."
As I was saying that, I opened the taxi app on my phone and called a taxi.
"I've called a taxi for you, and this time you can sit in the front seat. By the way, if you don't know how to use the taxi app, I can teach you so you don't have to steal a ride every day."
"Nicole, you're going too far. Susan is my friend."
Lucas shouted at me angrily, which was the first time I saw his furious side.
"Lucas, it's all my fault. Don't argue because of me."
Susan held Lucas, who was angry, but she still sat in the seat without any intention of getting off.
"Okay, Lucas, if you think she's so good, you can date her."
I slammed the car door and took a taxi home alone.
Chapter 4
I sat on the sofa sulking. At this moment, Lucas came back, he hugged me with both hands, pressed me against his chest and whispered to me, then he was asking me not to get angry because of Susan.
"Lucas Yates, I'm not against you having female friends, but don't you think you're getting too close to Susan?"
"No, Nicole, we're just ordinary friends."
"Lucas, if you can't keep your distance from Susan, then we should seriously consider our relationship."
After saying that, I turned and went into the bedroom.
Half an hour later, Lucas opened the bedroom door, got into bed, and hugged me from behind, agreeing to my request.
After that, I never saw Susan by Lucas' side again. Just when I thought our life had returned to the way it used to be, Susan caused trouble again.
Lucas and I were at a college class reunion when Susan called him.
"Lucas, I know I shouldn't disturb you, but this is the last time and I just want to say goodbye to you."
"Susan, what's wrong?" Lucas stood up from his seat.
Susan didn't say anything, but with the sound of the howling wind, we could hear the voices around her.
"Miss, don't do anything rash. No matter what happens, you can't jump off the building."
Without saying anything, Lucas quickly ran out. I and the other classmates followed closely behind.
Lucas quickly found Susan, who was standing on the rooftop, swinging her legs at this moment. When she saw Lucas coming, she started crying again.
"Lucas, I'm sorry. I didn't mean to disturb you, but I can't bear to let go of our relationship after all these years. You know, I have no family, but only you."
"Hey, young man, are you this girl's boyfriend? You should comfort her."
The surrounding onlookers said to Lucas one after another.
"Calm down, Susan, I promise you, we will still be like before."
"No, I can't make it difficult for you."
Susan still resisted and refused to come back.
"But I can't bear it, Lucas. Look, this is the necklace you gave me, and I really like it."
I looked at the necklace in her hand, which was exactly the same as mine, and I felt so cold in my heart.
The happiness I once thought of became extremely ridiculous at this moment.
The gentle man who put the necklace on me would also give the same necklace to other women.
"Susan, we will definitely go back to the way we were before. Look, this is the letter you wrote to me before, it still has your scent, and I have kept it all along."
Lucas took out a pink envelope and walked forward calmly. Finally, he found the right moment and pulled her back from the edge of danger.
Susan was very emotional as she cried and laughed, so she soon fainted.
Lucas picked her up and rushed downstairs to the hospital. During this period, he didn't even look at me.
