The year my boyfriend was at his poorest, I sold my body to give him a chance to make a comeback.

He swore with tears in his eyes that he would marry me.

Six years later, I waited for Elwood. But what I waited for was him attending an engagement ceremony with someone else.

In the bar's private room, I heard him say, "Elysia is just a deaf mute. Her body was tainted back then. Who would want to marry her?"

When I looked up and saw him at the door, he didn't even bother pretending anymore.

At the cocktail party, I walked past in a dazzling dress.

He and his group of friends blocked my path, their faces full of mockery and laughter.

"Elysia, you're really a loyal girl. When we ask you to come, you come. How do you have no dignity? No wonder he doesn't want you."

They forcibly pried open my mouth, attempting to pour alcohol into me.

They even took the opportunity to tear at my dress, trying to drag me into the private room to harrass me.

But in the next moment, a hand, with distinct knuckles, pulled me into an embrace.

"How dare you touch my fiancée? Do you want to die?"

They froze, instantly panicked, when they met the furious gaze of the heir to the capital's elite.

"Look, that simp really showed up." At the party, someone pointed at me and laughed mockingly.

He nudged Elwood with his elbow.

"You sure are lucky, not only can you hook up with a beauty like Amara, but even someone like Elysia, a sweet and innocent little deaf girl, is willing to be your simp for six years."

Others chimed in.

"Yeah, who doesn't know that Elysia has been hopelessly in love with Elwood? If she hadn't used her body to exchange for investment opportunities back then, how could Elwood have made a comeback?"

"Now, even though she's nameless and insignificant, she still comes crawling back as an underground lover, eager to be his little simp."

Elwood sat in the center of the crowd, his gaze falling on my dress. He squinted and looked me up and down.

His Adam's apple bobbed.

"I didn't expect her figure to be quite good. If I had known back then, I would have slept with her first, but unfortunately now, I think she's dirty."

The men behind him laughed.

"Elwood, if you don't like her, just let us have her. We don't think she's dirty, right guys?"

"Yeah, Elwood, weren't we supposed to teach her a lesson today?"

A few of them exchanged glances and burst into lewd, malicious laughter.

I was looking around when suddenly someone blocked my way.

Elwood tilted his chin up. "Elysia, I didn't expect you to be so cheap. You really came to accompany the drinks when I asked and dressed so slutty."

His gaze shamelessly fell on my exposed shoulder.

I immediately coldened my face, "Get out of the way, I'm not here for you."

"Oh, this little deaf girl still has the nerve to talk back!"

I didn't know whose hand it was, but someone impulsively grabbed my hearing aid from my right ear.

Their laughter immediately blurred.

Elwood sneered, pinching my chin. "Still talking back? You're not here for me? You’re a country bumpkin who can't even afford a dress, what chance do you have to be in a place like this?"

His voice was close to my left ear, his tone dripping with mockery.

I clenched my teeth, but still couldn't stop my eyes from reddening.

I waited for him for six years.

Six years ago, his company was facing bankruptcy and creditors came knocking, pushing his parents to their deaths. Even Elwood was at his wit's end, preparing to swallow a bottle of sleeping pills to end it all.

It was I who sold my body to give him the chance to make a comeback.

With the huge investment secured, Elwood kneeled with red eyes, making a vow.

"Elysa, wait for me. Once I get the company back on track, I will definitely marry you!"
