Chapter 2

"Bella, this will be your adoptive mother from now on."

After the pain disappeared and I regained consciousness, I thought I was hallucinating.

The educated woman in front of me was tall and had pale skin.

It was Ella.

"Call her Mom."

Lucy Hill pushed me from behind.

I woke up instantly, and after looking around, I finally realized what was happening.

I was reborn on the day that Ella came to the orphanage to adopt me.

"Bella, my name is Ella Taylor. You will live with me from now on. Nice to meet you."

Ella bent down and smiled brightly at me.

I looked at her sanctimonious face and shuddered all over.

In my previous life, I was fooled by her gentle and caring attitude.

I followed her directly home.

Unexpectedly, Ella adopted me because my blood type was Rh-negative, just like hers.

"Bella, call her Mom quickly." Lucy was still urging me.

I pushed Ella in front of me and said, "I don't want her to be my adoptive mother."

Ella's face darkened and she bit her lip.

I was very familiar with the expression. Usually when she looked like that, she was angry.

And then I would get punched or kicked by her.

Perhaps because there were outsiders around, Ella restrained herself a little.

Lucy comforted me, "What's wrong? Bella, Ella is so nice and beautiful. She's a doctor and doesn't have any children at home. Her husband died a long time ago. Will you go with her?"

"No, I won't go with her."

After saying that, I ran towards the door.

Lucy also lost her patience and grabbed me, "Since you won't listen, I'll have to force you. It is not up to you."

Lucy held my arm and went out with Ella, then walked towards the back door.

Along the way, I struggled, trying to break free from Lucy's hand.

But years of malnutrition made me very thin, so I had too little strength.

I had no choice but to shout for help, but people passing by just looked at me coldly.

We were almost reaching Ella's car.

Without thinking, I bit Lucy's arm.

She felt pain and let go of my hand with a cry.

Without thinking, I turned around and ran forward.

If I remembered correctly, a pair of disabled twins were adopted by foreigners that day and several reporters came.

That was why Lucy and Ella parked the car at the back door.

I tried to run forward, and Lucy chased me from behind. "Bella, stop right there!"

Fortunately, she couldn't catch up with me, and soon I saw the orphanage director Linda Cook standing in front of me receiving reporters.

I ran into her arms, with tears welling up in my eyes. "Linda, I don't want to be sent away."

As soon as I said that, all the reporters' cameras were on me.

Linda was stunned. Because there were so many people around, she didn't show any emotion. "What do you mean? Who wants to send you away?"

"It's Dr. Ella Taylor who's here to adopt Bella." Lucy came over with a smile and took my hand. "Bella, it is okay if you don't want to leave here. Just come back with me."

She wanted to pull me away.

I stood there and hugged Linda's thighs, "Linda, I don't go with Lucy. I don't go with Ella."

Ella behind me looked embarrassed and the smile on her face faded.

Linda bent down and helped me up, "Bella, I am receiving reporters here. I will solve your problem in a while. You go back with Lucy first, and I promise that you will not be taken away."

There, I knew full well that Linda's promise was useless.

So I looked around and cast a look for help to several reporters.

Sure enough, a reporter felt compassion for me.

She walked up to me, bent down and asked me, "Kid, why don't you want to go with that woman?"

Chapter 3

Everyone thought that children in orphanages were eager to be adopted and yearned for family affection.

I was no exception.

Before I met Ella, I also longed to get out of there and have a home.

But in my previous life, after I was adopted, I didn't get the warmth I wanted, but only had my blood drawn and was beaten and kicked.

If now I told them that I would be abused by Ella, people there probably wouldn't believe it.

I had a quick thought, then pointed at Ella and said, "Because she doesn't meet the requirements to adopt me!"

When those words came out, it was like thunder from the clear sky.

It was not uncommon for orphans to be adopted and not want to leave the orphanage, but it was social news that they could be taken away even if their adopters did not meet the adoption requirements.

It was obvious that the reporters there were very perceptive.

Lucy looked panicked, "What nonsense are you talking about? Dr. Ella Taylor went through the formal procedures and it was examined by the state agency. How come she doesn't meet the adoption requirements?"

The more panicked people were, the more they talked.

Ella saw that everyone was looking at her, so she took out a few pieces of paper from her bag and said, "Here are my documents. You can see that I came here with approval."

At that time, everyone's eyes turned to me again, as if they were waiting for me to produce evidence.

I immediately said, "She is mentally ill."

I only found out that Ella had schizophrenia after I was adopted by Ada.

After I was adopted by Ada and saw Ella again, the two of them locked me up in a small cottage in the country.

They put shackles on my feet and I was only allowed to move around in the yard.

Every time Ella took my blood, Ada gave me something good to eat.

It seemed like she wanted me to forgive Ella for that.

During our conversation, I learned that Ella had schizophrenia and became crazy because she couldn't take medicine due to pregnancy.

The shackles on my feet were also used to lock Ella up when she had an attack before.

Ada touched my head and said, "Bella, don't resent her. When she is born, she will definitely treat you well."

I lived in dire straits every day, and I really believed what she said that day.

I stopped resisting Ella and obeyed her, but she thought I was trying to harm her.

The torture on me became more severe.

Hearing what I said, Ella turned pale. She pointed at me and cursed, "You are talking nonsense. If you don't want to be adopted by me, just tell us. Why do you slander me? Such a bad kid, I won't adopt you."

After saying that, she turned around and left.

Linda's face darkened and she lectured me, "Bella, Ella is a doctor at our People's Hospital. You can choose not to go with her, but it is wrong for you to slander her and destroy her reputation in front of so many people."

Her words subtly conveyed that I was lying, and the reporters immediately lost interest in exploring the matter.

Finally, she lectured me some more and then let Lucy take me away.

Although I was scolded, Ella did not take me away in the end.

I breathed a sigh of relief.

Chapter 4

At dinner, Lucy didn't let me eat enough.

And after dinner, she locked me in a small dark room.

That was where kids who had made mistakes went.

It wasn't until I lay down on the bed that I felt a sense of reality.

Although my stomach was empty and it was dark and damp there, it was still much better than where I lived in my previous life.

I hadn't slept on such a soft bed in a long time.

After what happened that day, I thought Ella would give up the idea of adopting me.

But maybe she wouldn't. Just in case, I still had to make some preparations.

Just as I was thinking about that, a head popped out of the window.

I looked closely and saw that it was my good friend Polly Brown.

I ran over and said, "Polly!"

It was a pity that I couldn't hug her because of the window.

Polly smiled at me and gave me a mango through the window.

"Thank you, my dear Polly."

That was because she knew I hadn't eaten, so she brought me food.

Polly looked at me with her beautiful big eyes and said, "Bella, why didn't you go with that woman?"

"Because..."

Before I could say anything, there was a sound from the door behind me.

Polly ran away like a little rabbit, and I put the mango in my pocket.

Normally there were no mangoes in our food. The mango must have been stolen by Polly from the teacher's office, so I had to hide it.

A few seconds later, Linda came in with a bowl of noodles.

"Bella, you haven't eaten yet."

In my previous life, I loved Linda.

Although we had few opportunities to see her, whenever we saw her, there would be delicious food.

When I saw the bowl of noodles, I couldn't help swallowing.

Linda called me to come over and eat, and I started to eat without thinking.

She gently asked me the same question, "Bella, other children all want to have a family, but why don't you want to go with Ella? She has very good conditions."

I wanted to tell her about my rebirth, but I thought she might not believe it.

So I made up an excuse, "I don't want to leave Polly and the others."

"Is it that simple?"

Strangely, she asked me several more related questions.

I always insisted that I was reluctant to leave there.

When I finished eating, she gently told me, "You are already sixteen years old and have grown up. If you don't want to leave, we won't force you."

I was so happy that I quickly thanked her several times.

She took the bowl and left, then I lay back down on the bed.

Maybe because my concern was resolved, I fell asleep quickly.

I slept very deeply and well that time.

I didn't know how long I slept when I opened my eyes.

When I saw the white ceiling and the familiar cloud lights, I sat up in bed instantly.

I looked around.

My whole body froze in an instant.

I was too familiar with the furnishings there.

Not somewhere else, but in my bedroom at Ella's house.

What was going on?

Was I not in the orphanage?
