Chapter 5
"Her mate is the only eligible one to save Kellie from the Wasteland, says the moon goddess." His Beta, Nathan, bows his head and repeats over and over again until Alpha Martin stops him.
"Okay! Okay! It's okay." Alpha Martin orders, and gazes up at the wolf who is silent for now but trying to jump down to the Wasteland. Hesitantly.
"What do we do to this?" Charles abruptly frees his grip from Kimberly as he walks up to meet Alpha Martin. The warriors murmur and grumble, giving the main gate loud unattractive noise.
"Her mate." Alpha Martin clicks his tongue, and points to his Beta, "You can go."
Luna Mirabel mopes around, each warrior bowing as she moves across their sides, with three Betas following her as she moves.
"Yeah. I heard so. But..." Charles stutters. "...her mate has been deprived of freedom. He was dragged away by those guys. How do we capture him?"
"What guys?" Alpha Martin asks, and orders all warriors to get inside the pack house.
"Let all warriors be in now!" He orders, and they troop in immediately as though earlier planned.
"So, what guys took her mate? Do you mean my warriors or your Gammas?" He asks, and heads over to a brick. It's two, one's complete while the other is a bit broken. The wolf on the barrier seems confused, what they notice about this big wolf is that, it knows about the wasteland, so it's not a wolf from a different pack, it has an idea of how the wasteland works. If not, it would have jumped down and probably thrown Kellie over to them.
"My Luna, please go in as well." He tells Mirabel and she walks inside the pack house with her Betas, immediately.
"Some guys came here to attack Kellie and her mate." Charles says, after sitting on the half brick while Martin sits on the complete one.
"WOW!" Martin exhales. They are just right in front of the hut, adjacent to the shade where Alfred and the Betas are hiding. Alfred freezes up and goosebumps creep up his skin and chin as he discovers that they have been caught. If they move, they'd be noticed. More reason why Charles suggested sitting on the bricks. Charles tilts the brick he's sitting on, and he can clearly see Alfred and others.
"Rogues?" Alpha Martin asks. "Let me order my men to finish them up." Then, Kimberly approaches, sniffling.
"Can moon goddess help?" She sobs. "I need my daughter right here."
"Hey..." Charles rises to his feet immediately he sees her, Martin stands up and Kimberly is allowed to sit on the complete brick.
"Alpha Martin, you can sit while I stand." Charles tells Martin to sit on the incomplete brick.
"No, sit while I stand." Martin retorts.
"No, Alpha."
"No, Beta."
They both remain standing. Martin stoops low to face Kimberly from below. He looks up at her and rubs her chin.
"You're carrying a pup." He says. "Don't stress it."
Kimberly forces a smile which only turns out to be a grin.
"By the way..." Martin clears his throat, noticing a creepy movement in front of him (Alfred and the six Betas trying to escape.) "...do you have any idea of what Charles is saying?"
Charles stoops low as well, and pecks her chin.
"Yes. That man. That wolf. Attacked her mate. In the process, she was swirled up in air, I thought I'd catch her with my hands but no, she proceeded to the wasteland."
Martin spits on the ground, and gazes up at the barrier - a very tall fence barrier, not made with any physical thing but made by different paranormal beings - elves, red wolves, vampires, witches and wizards, turtles and tortoises, snakes, and whatnot.
"Can you recognize those guys?" Martin asks, and stands up. Alfred and his Betas crawl inside the hut creepily and start to escape.
"I didn't know you have come in contact with her mate." Martin says, moving up and down.
"Okay, Alpha. Come over here." Charles says, and beckons to Martin. "Kimberly, you sit."
Charles and Martin hide beside the doorstep leading to the hut, and they see Alfred stretching out his hands and yawning as others escape - he wouldn't want anyone to know he's a white wolf, so he'd rather shift in a more private place.
"Stop right there." Alpha Martin commands in his Alpha tone as they both approach Alfred. He raises his two hands up and seems confused.
"I swear... I swear..." he stutters, moving back inch by inch.
"Don't swear. Tie him up!" Alpha Martin orders still in his mandatory tone. Without mind linking, twelve Gammas scurry their feet and soon enter the hut with the wolf's bane and wolf knot. The wolf knot is like a thick rope used in tying rogues down. Though they know only white wolves are capable of freeing themselves from the rope, they don't know Alfred is a white wolf. The Gammas free the rope and Charles sighs at the thickness and width. The twelve of them gather round Alfred and they tie him up.
"Now, take him behind me." Alpha Martin orders, and marches out of the hut. Charles marches after him, moving quick to meet Kimberly while the twelve Gammas wobble Alfred out of the hut, and straight behind Alpha Martin.
"Yes, it's this wolf! Goddammit!" Kimberly comments, peering into Alfred's face.
"Kellie told me someone ordered her to be with him. It would be this wolf as well!" Charles adds. "Through the deaf's gesticulation method though."
If only he knows Alfred has told Kellie not to mention him to anyone, he wouldn't have said anything. Or better still, he would whisper those words to Kimberly and Martin, separately. The pack house start to blare with noise as all and sundry have woken up and resumed their daily activities.
"Alpha, your attention would be needed in the next twenty minutes." Copeland, the head of the gammas alert him in his mind link. Alpha Martin shrugs, but Charles sees it as his response to what he said.
"You Rogue!" Martin hits Alfred after the gammas dump him on the ground, exactly where he fought with Kellie and her mate with others.
The only reason why Alfred isn't smirking or scoffing or sniggering, is to hide his identity. If he smirks after being bound, they might suspect his type of wolf.
"What type of wolf are you? You dare attack Kellie's mate!!" Martin hits him on his forehead again. Kimberly and Charles walk up to the scene to have a look. Alfred starts to shiver, knowing they might want to discover the kind of wolf he is.
"Detect his wolf." A voice says, Alfred stares back in terror but returns to his original position, having discovered it was only an illusion.
"Tell me. Now." Alpha Martin grins. "Where is Kellie's mate?"
Alfred muffles, and Martin signals to Charles.
"Help me with wolf's bane." He tells Charles and Charles moves inside the pack house quickly.
"No! No! Please, I promise." Alfred yells, and Charles stops moving.
"You promise what?" Charles, Kimberly and Martin all ask, at a go.
"I'll tell you everything." He says, and Martin beckons to Charles to come over. As Charles moves towards them, the big wolf sitting on the barrier grunts, and whines, calling their attention.
"Where is George?" Charles fumes, and punches Alfred in his face. Alfred isn't afraid of Wolf's bane, he'd regain his energy again. His only fear is them knowing he's a White wolf, it could be revealed through wolfbane.
"George. George." Then he stares at the big wolf.
"George?" Martin stands erect and shoots gazes up at the big wolf. The big wolf whines and shifts back to the human form. He's naked but he quickly covers himself with some sheets found on the barrier.
"It's me, George!" George yells. He's the big wolf. Moon goddess told him she'd help and the way she could, is to enlarge his wolf power and size so he would be able to free himself from any bondage and be able to fly above any barrier no matter how tall, big, or strongly made. It's indeed a gift and help from the moon goddess.
"Wow." They (Kimberly, Martin, Charles) leave Alfred alone in his bondage as they approach George.
"George!" Charles cries out.
"Yes, it's me. Moon goddess helped me when I was abducted to the mountain." George screams, and smiles. Alfred had asked the Betas if they summoned the moon goddess and he received the negative answer, maybe as a conclusion of their silence though. Now, he's confirmed - his Betas helped George by summoning the moon goddess since George can't, until he gets mated.
You can't summon moon goddess if you're not mated. Not only getting your mate but getting mated.
"Please, can you help with Kellie?" Kimberly asks, shrieking because of the distance. George stares down at them and they seem like insects in his eyes, just for you to know the distance.
"Alrighty!" He screams back. Though they can only hear one another because they are wolves, they also need to scream.
"Kellie is right here below. In the wasteland. She is sobbing." He says, through his mind link after repeating it multiple times and they don't seem to hear him at all.
Alpha Martin turns off the pack's mind link in him, and switches to his. Charles turns his mind link on as well, and Kimberly follows suit. Then, their mind links connect and they hear George all at same time and clearly. The only disadvantage of this connection of mind link is that any white wolf would hear clearly. Any white wolf can hear wolves mind link (only if it is connected together though, like the case of Kimberly, Alpha Martin, and Charles now). So, Alfred lays down, still in his cuffs, and listens attentively to what George is saying.
"Kellie is here! I need one more person so we can save her." George yells. "The red wolves would soon come out for hunting. That should be in the next hour. I need someone to come over here with me and save Kellie!!"
Chapter 6
Kimberly sighs in the mind link.
"How possible?" Martin asks in the mind link.
"I don't know!" Greg yells back. "She's groaning in pain."
"Go save her. Isn't she your mate?" Charles splutters in an infuriated tone.
"It costs me nothing to jump down and save but don't think of us any more. We won't be able to return to this pack any longer!"
Martin shudders. "Or do you think there might be some sort of interjection?"
"Not sure. We can only get that through the map with the moon goddess or if a white wolf releases his power or if I jump down." Greg clarifies. "Any of the three options?"
"Which is the fastest?"
"A white wolf shedding off the power can't take more than three minutes. Fast! Look for a wolf willing to sacrifice his power for Kellie. A white wolf!"
"Dang!" Kimberly comments. "They are rare. We shouldn't use them."
"Then forget about your daughter." George retorts.
"Okay, you know what?" Martin says.
"What?" George retorts in a breaking voice.
"Stay intact. I'll look for a white wolf to sacrifice the power so you'll get the interjections."
"Okay. Don't take long." George says, and the mind links adjourns.
"Fast! Find a white wolf!" Martin barks at Charles.
Charles shudders, and shrugs, "You said it. I don't know how to find a white wolf."
"Take the wolfsbane. The liquid type. He who coughs intensely is a white wolf. Tell a wolf to close a door without moving near. He who does that is a white wolf. Then, more conveniently..." Alpha Martin says, as though he knows Alfred is a white wolf. "...tell the wolf to shift. You'll clearly see the white appearance."
"What if the wolf fails to shift?"
"Provoke him. The wolf will thrust out itself. They don't have temper, but they can be silent. Provoke him to the core!" Martin yells. "An hour. Five minutes gone! We have a damn hour!! Hurry!"
"Make sure you do your best here too. Guard the rogue well. Kimberly, I'll be right back." Charles says, and marches towards the main gate in view of entering the pack house and get a white wolf.
"Whenever I mind link you, respond immediately!!" Martin yells as he sees Charles entering the pack house through the gate. Charles waves at him, telling him he heard him.
"You bastard, you caused all this!!!!" Kimberly grunts, and yells at Alfred, punching his chest hard.
"Don't let your wolf thrust out. It's not advisable right now. Not at all." Martin says but Kimberly keeps hitting his chest till Alfred pushes her away.
"Leave me alone. Why are you doing this?" He says. "After all, it's a blessing in disguise."
"How?" Martin asks.
"He got there....through the fight." He stutters and stops abruptly. He wouldn't want to have the slip of tongue, he is making sure he does not say anything he heard in the mind link, so he won't be suspected.
Thuds are heard approaching in the hut.
Ten minutes gone.
Kimberly crawls up to him again, and ensures he is tied and can't move a bit. Then, with her clenched fists, she dashes him blows on his nose, mouth, eyes, forehead and chest, all parts but mainly the ones mentioned. Alfred shakes his head sidewards, tired of the beatings but Kimberly keeps hitting him.
The thuds can't be heard anymore. But it seems someone is lurking around the hut. Or inside. Or maybe not someone, maybe people.
Then, Alfred's mind link clicks. He tucks his wolf back in, and tells him it's not the best time to shift. Why did his mind link click? He hisses when he discovers.
"Alpha, your attention is outrightly needed." He hears the voice of his fiftieth Beta. That soft masculine cool voice.
"About Charles?" Alpha Martin asks, thinking it might be about the white wolf mission.
"No."
Then, he cuts the mind link. Kimberly keeps hitting Alfred and suddenly, Alfred's wolf thrusts out. With loud grunts and waste of whirlwind, his wolf thrusts out and Martin stares at him, he's a white wolf. The white wolf he sent Charles to summon and retrieve his power.
"Holy Mary." Kimberly exhales sharply and stays with Martin.
"It's a blessing in disguise indeed." He says. "You provoked his wolf. I didn't even think of this, earlier. Wow!"
Then, grunting and whining, the white wolf shifts back to Alfred and his clothes are still on him. That's another advantage of being a white wolf. Alfred, once he shifts back to human, takes to his heels, heading straight to the hut but Martin and Kimberly pursue him. He's a youth, Martin can be called a grandparent while Kimberly is pregnant with Charles' pup. So, they can't catch up with him. The chains break off of his hands when he shifted back to his human, and then Martin uses that idea. An inch to step into the hut, Martin picks up the chain and sends it across the neck. The thick ropes his Gamma bound Alfred with, too, he sends it across his neck and body. Then, he quickly mind links Charles.
"Charles, do you copy?" He enters his mind link swiftly, holding the rope tight. If Alfred is to cut the rope, then he must shift to his wolf even if it is half shifting.
"Yes, I copy." Charles responds immediately.
"Come over here. The rogue is a white wolf!!!" He yells, and Alfred starts to shift.
Within nanoseconds, Charles has arrived before Alfred could half-shift or full shift since he used his wolf power to run.
"Take him! Seize him! He's a white wolf!!" Martin yells, ordering Charles. Charles moves up to him, and sends him to the ground. He punches him hard on his face but two voices stop him. Kimberly's and a stranger's.
"Stop! That was what I did that thrust out his wolf." Kimberly cries out.
"Don't touch my Beta." A voice like a foghorn speaks from the hut.
Not minding shit, Alpha Martin and Kimberly with Charles carry Alfred up and head to the fighting centre, near the barrier.
Twenty five minutes gone.
"How to retrieve the power?" Charles asks Martin and he starts to sweat.
"I don't know how to. Are you asking me?" Martin retorts. "Ask George. Quick!"
"Please..." Alfred muffles, knowing he's been caught. "...don't retrieve my power, please."
Kimberly tucks her fingers into his mouth and then down his throat. She brings out her hands again, and slaps him hard on his chin.
"You're a mere rogue." She tells him, as Charles starts to mind link George.
"No, I'm not. I swear, I'm not!" He groans and winces in pain. The lumps caused by Kimberly's fingers in his throat gets healed on time and automatically since he's a white wolf.
"Then, who the hell are you?" Martin barks at him, signaling to Charles if he's gotten through to George.
"I'm a Beta for a pack. I was sent here to attend Kellie's coronation. To grace it." He lies.
"That's a blatant lie, idiot." Martin hits him with his feet.
"Let's try our best not to provoke him for his wolf's sake, so he won't escape." Kimberly says.
Hearing this, Alfred gives his wolf the control of his body. Kimberly's face wrinkles as she glares at Charles and then at Martin.
"What to do!!!" She yells.
"We can't fight him with our human powers. Before Charles return to his being, we gotta shift and make sure he doesn't escape."
Then, Alfred's white wolf cries out, grunts and whines as it darts towards Charles. Immediately, Martin's wolf takes control and he directs the white wolf away from Charles. Charles and Kimberly move away from the scene since Charles is hearing from George and Kimberly shouldn't shift since she's pregnant. She can but she advisably shouldn't.
When Kimberly notices that Martin is being defeated, she runs with her might to the main gate.
"Please, I need few security wolves." She pleads, rattling the wolf padlock tied around the gate.
"What is it, madam?" One of the security asks, and she points at the scene. Then, three of them join her immediately and approach Martin and the white wolf on the ground. As the three of them approach, they give their wolves the control. The three are white wolves, they should be able to deal with just one white wolf.
Seven minutes wasted. Thirty two minutes gone.
Their wolves bark at Alfred and Alfred retaliates but only gets a big wound. They dump themselves on him, whining and woofing repeatedly. They howl as much as they can as they hit Alfred with all their might.
Then, Alfred shifts back into his human form.
Charles comes back to life. The three security wolves shift back to their human forms as well, and Martin returns to his wolf form.
"May we go?" The three asks.
"Not yet." Charles replies. "Hold him down. We want to retrieve his power."
"We can do that better."
"Oh, wow." Kimberly comments.
Charles starts to explain how to retrieve the power but they nod multiple times, telling him they know it already but still though, they take few points from Charles.
Thirty five minutes gone.
The three security white wolves start to retrieve his power.
"Please, don't hurt my Beta." That voice in the hut pleads but no one listens.
Alfred gives a great yell as his white wolf power leaves his body. But luckily for him, he still has the normal wolf abilities. But not a white wolf any longer.
"Next line of action?" Kimberly asks.
"Keep him safe." One of the three says.
"Mind link George. Make sure no white wolf is near here. Then give him the white wolf power. You can do that by showing him this rogue...and.."
"How did you know why and what we are doing?" Charles asks.
"We are white wolves, remember?"
"Mind link George."
"Sure."
Chapter 7
The security wolves walk away from the scene after helping them retrieve the power from Alfred. Alpha Festus is the one lurking around the hut, he doesn't know how to shift - he only became an Alpha as an inheritance from his father.
Thirty Eight Minutes Gone.
22 minutes for the Red wolves to come out and hunt in the wasteland. Greg seems impatient, and he tries to mind link Alpha Martin or Charles but they do, immediately.
"Hey, George! Do you copy? Over." Martin walks around Alfred who is lying flatly on the ground and groaning.
"George, do you copy?" Charles mind links him too. Then, immediately their mind links join together, Martin's, Charles' and Kimberly's with George's.
"Hey, guys! The red wolves are out already. Give the white wolf power to me, and let me jump down!!" Greg yells, impatient waiting for a response.
40 minutes gone.
"Some elves are moping around where she lays!" He yells again.
"Elves aren't harmful." Martin comments. "We are going to give the power to you now."
Then, they all kneel beside Alfred and place their hearts on his. He yells as a spirit rushes out of his body, and he feels weak immediately. Then, the spirit goes straight up to the clouds.
"Alright, gotcha." George says. "I'm gonna shift now, and I'll jump down. Mind link me when necessary."
"Alright, George. Please take good care of my daughter." Kimberly sniffles.
"Yes, ma'am! Sure, I'll mind link you when necessary and also, Kellie would get her mind link once she's settled so we will be safe." Greg adds. "Just be hopeful and pray it works out. Red wolves are more strict than some vampires are."
"It will work out well. George, I trust you!" Charles feigns a smile on his chin.
Then, with a loud voice, not blaring where Martin and others are but loud enough for them to hear clearly, George's wolf takes control and increases in size as he shifts fully into his wolf form.
"Pall. Pall." He hears the name twice. Then, moon goddess interprets it for him. Pall is the name of his wolf. So, we're gonna call him Pall when he's in his wolf form.
Pall whines and woofs around the corner, peering down at Kellie who is still lying down flatly and sobbing. The sobs can't be heard, only the shudders. She's shuddering and sniffling, obviously ignorant of what step to take.
"Aah!!!!!" Pall yells with all his might and his wolf doubles again. Martin and Kimberly with Charles fix their gazes up at the barrier where George is, and they see the wolf as little.
"Are you sure that would help? He's such a small wolf." Kimberly comments.
"Don't be a dunce." Charles says. "It is so far away. Yet, you wanna see him as big as he is? If he isn't big, we won't even see any of his part."
"Stop bickering. Let's get to work and train some warriors." Martin says, and walks away from them.
George gives the last shriek, his wolf becoming times twenty of his original size, then with a continuous descending spree, he darts towards Sophia as he drops into the wasteland.
"George is gone." Kimberly lets out a lone tear out of her eyes.
"At least, he has more power than he has ever had. Moon goddess increased his wolf strength and size. We gave him the white wolf power. So, what do you think?" Martin retorts.
"Make sure you keep this guy safe." Charles says, and kicks Alfred. Kimberly slaps him hard on his chin, and smiles afterwards.
"We have used your white wolf power." She snickers, and hits his forehead with a clenched fist. "You're now a mere wolf. You know what?"
"What?" Charles asks but Martin keeps moving towards the main gate.
"Keep him with us. Maybe in our house. After all, he's just a wolf like us. Keep him with us." Kimberly says.
"Why should we?" Charles shrugs.
"You know you're one of the causes of why my pretty and only daughter is missing." Her voice starts to break. "Would you even listen to me once?"
"Okay then. Stand up, man." He helps Alfred up.
"Hey Charles, meet me at room 344." Martin says, and enters the pack house as the security white wolves bow while he passes by them.
"Sure!" Charles retorts, before he moves out of earshot. He helps Alfred up totally and he guides him to the main gate. He forces him in though Alfred moves voluntarily - the only reason why he's special is because he has the white wolf power in him and since he doesn't anymore, there's no point returning to his pack.
"Thank you, sir." He says. "Thank you, ma."
After they all enter the pack house through the main gate, Alpha Festus hiding in the hut shakes his head and moves away. The other Betas that escaped had met him on his way - so he told them to keep moving and stay in the pack while he tries his best for Alfred but unfortunately, he can't. How can a mere human being fight a wolf not to talk of a white one.
"Treason, treason!" He fumes. "He surrendered to this pack. What's the name?"
He tilts his head, and peers at the encryption at the main gate and great fences.
"Association of Wolves pack. AoW." He soliloquizes, and tells his unavailable wolf incase he forgets the name.
"Though I can't shift, I'll make sure I get those who have more powers than the white wolves and they'll accompany me in accomplishing my journey."
He leaves through the backyard; Giving his Alpha ability the control, he speeds into the forest and soon gets back to America - that's to tell you wolves most very fast. Not just fast, very! But Alphas of packs whether able to shift or not are always able to move faster than their Betas or Gammas or Zetas or warriors. Except white wolves though.
(WASTELAND)
As George drops to the ground, the waste land, he lands on a soft object with a loud thud. The object shrieks, without facing him. How the object rolls around the ground makes him suspect this is not Kellie.
"Kellie, Kellie, it's your mate." He calls her softly and then the object faces him. He screams on top of his voice; the object has no face - no eyes, no nose, no mouth. Worse still, the object had been haunted down and been injured in her face - blood drools from her 'faceless face.'
"Oh Master Jesus, what do I do?" George wails, and detaches his mind link from others so they won't hear his thoughts. He'd attach it again once he gets anything to alert them about or any updates.
"It's Kellie. Where are you, George?" A soft melodious voice speaks from behind and as George looks back, he doesn't see anyone. He sighs and breathes in. (I hope you know he's now in his human form.)
"Kellie!" George slightly yells. "Where are you?"
"Over here." The voice breaks, sounding, resounding, and echoing.
"Where exactly?" George says, darting his eyeballs forward and backward in the wasteland.
Then, the red wolves troop out of their cage to hunt and consume their victims. George tiptoes and hides right beside their cage. The red wolves are five in number, George sees this and exhales. At least, he should be able to hide from 5 enemies. But all at once, he discovers the 5 is only the first pair. He's actually facing another pair of red wolves since his back is turned to the cage of the first pair of wolves.
The leader of the pair of red wolves that troop out right from the cage George is staring at, doesn't move. She gets out of the cage - the cage is just like the ground. Just like they are coming from the underground. George doesn't mutter, he keeps completely silent. He stutters and starts to swear when the leader of the red wolf team stops in his front. Her four members come behind her.
"Go." She orders in a slurry accent. "Will be with you."
Her four red wolves roll their eyes at George and give him some sort of suspicious looks.
"Who are you?" She asks, helping George up.
"I'm...I'm..." He stutters, after standing up. Red wolves are capable of knowing your mind - you can't lie to them. Again, they have the ability to become very short like dwarfs and become very tall again.
"Looking for Kellie?" She asks, and George shudders, nodding his head almost immediately.
"Kellie is right there. Welcome to our pack." She asks for a hug and George becomes a bit scared but he hugs her.
"You can live here and hunt with us. Though you didn't intend to come here, but sorry you can't leave anymore." She says, and George sobs inwardly. He encourages himself that at least she acts nice to him - he's been expecting his head or an important part of his body to be chopped off once they approach him.
"May I ask a question?" George smiles, and raises up his pinky finger a bit.
"Sure." She says.
"But that's when we are right back." She adds before George could speak.
"Alright, thank you very much." George clasps his palms and rubs them together, the leader smiles and walks away.
"Hey, George! It's Kellie." The voice speaks again.
"Alright, I'm coming." George traces the voice. "Keep calling. Keep calling. I'll keep trailing."
"George, it's Kellie." She says until he finds her out. She's sitting on a settee beside two no-go-area witches. Anyone who enters this wasteland automatically discovers what kind of human the person is.
"Kellie!" George smiles widely as he sees Kellie's face gleaming with happiness.
"Hello." He waves at the witches but poof, they disappear. George shudders and slides as he falls to the ground due to the imbalance caused by the sudden disappearance of the two witches.
