Chapter 4
Watching these people act without limits, I decided to stop trying to intervene.
From the moment they entered my home, they had been captured on camera.
The more arrogant they became now, the worse their consequences would be when the time for reckoning came!
I quietly observed as they wreaked havoc downstairs, destroying various antiques.
But it wasn't enough for them; brandishing their sticks, they prepared to head upstairs to continue their rampage.
I followed them up, no longer attempting to stop them.
The items upstairs were even more valuable—enough to ruin them financially and land them in prison for a long time!
I even noticed one of the younger streamers discreetly hiding a golden ornament in her clothing. This was theft, and it was illegal!
I watched silently until I saw Ethan open my wardrobe and pull out a wooden box.
My heart raced; that was the only keepsake my mother had left me.
"Don't touch that!" I shouted at Ethan.
"You say not to touch it? Then I'm definitely going to!" Ethan sneered, and with a wicked grin, he smashed the box onto the floor.
Crash!
The wooden box shattered, and its contents spilled out.
As I knelt before the remnants of my mother's only heirloom, my heart felt like it was being ripped apart.
The streamers immediately turned their cameras on me, mocking me with cruel remarks.
"Look everyone! The ex-con is crying!"
"Pfft! He doesn't deserve any sympathy; just wait until he sees what's coming!"
"Hahaha, this is karma! From the moment you did evil, you should have known this day would come!"
"Viewers, we're the Bad Guy Busters, here to deal with scum like this ex-con! Now he's left with nothing but regret—but it's too late! Where were you when you were doing wrong?"
"Isn't it satisfying to see this ex-con in tears? If you think so, send us gifts—we have more entertainment coming your way!"
Just as they reveled in their triumph, a group of police officers burst into the house.
I had an emergency alarm system installed; even without my phone, I could still call for help.
Chapter 5
Seeing the police arrive, the streamers—who thought they were being righteous but were actually crossing every line for views—looked a bit uneasy.
"Who called the police?" one asked.
"I don't know," another replied.
Before they could ponder further, Ethan stepped forward with a cold smile. "It's perfect timing for the police to take this scumbag ex-con and put him behind bars where he belongs!"
The streamers quickly regained their composure. "Right! We're here to serve justice and hand this scumbag over to the police! Viewers, keep liking and light up those stars!"
I knelt on the floor, heartbroken over my mother's shattered heirloom.
Ethan kicked me over, sneering, "You pathetic ex-con! What are you pretending to be pitiful for now that the police are here? Who are you going to threaten?"
He immediately turned to the officers, claiming I was a menace who had threatened his girlfriend, showing them the chat screenshots as evidence.
One officer approached me. "Sir, please get up and cooperate with our investigation."
I glanced at the officer and then reached for my household registration book from the ground. "Officer, you came at just the right time. This is my registration book. These people barged into my home without cause, assaulted me, stole my belongings, and caused damages worth over a hundred million! Please help me!"
"You're spouting nonsense!" Ethan shouted back. "You're the one who threatened my girlfriend! Everything here belongs to her!"
The officer examined my registration book, frowning slightly as he looked at Ethan. "The registration shows that this man lives here. You claim these items belong to your girlfriend? What evidence do you have that she was harmed?"
Ethan was momentarily taken aback but quickly replied, "The screenshots I showed you are proof!"
"Those aren't enough for charges," the officer said, shaking his head. "How about you call her here?"
"Alright, I'll call her!" Ethan said as he dialed a number. "Babe, hurry up! I'm in trouble and need you to back me up! The police are waiting!"
As Ethan made the call, the streamers found their confidence again and began to chime in with sarcastic comments directed at the police.
"Officer, there's no need for an investigation; he's just an ex-con!"
"Exactly! How could he afford such a nice villa? He must have gotten it through illegal means."
"This scumbag is nothing but trouble; he just got out of prison and is already ruining someone's relationship!"
Before they could continue their taunts, one officer interjected, "You don't get to judge justice here; have you not realized that you're stepping into legal trouble yourselves?"
The officers' words made several of the streamers go pale.
Moments later, Sophie arrived.
Now in her thirties but looking exceptionally well-preserved, her beauty and poise drew gasps from the younger streamers.
One of them turned to Ethan in surprise. "Ethan, is this your girlfriend?"
"Of course!" he replied proudly.
The streamer gushed, "She's a real beauty! No wonder this ex-con has his eyes on her; if I were a guy, I'd be drawn to her too."
Everyone marveled at Sophie's looks while Ethan basked in their admiration.
However, no one noticed that Sophie was sweating nervously.
"Babe, you finally made it!" Ethan exclaimed as he approached her with a smug grin.
"Who's your babe? I don't know you; get away from me!" Sophie shot back.
Ethan's smug expression froze in shock. How could this be the same Sophie who called him "sweetie" every day?
In front of everyone's astonished eyes, Sophie walked straight up to me and was about to throw herself into my arms.
But how could I accept this woman after everything?
I pushed her away forcefully. "You make me sick; don't touch me!"
"Honey, please let me explain..."
Sophie fell to her knees before me, tears welling in her eyes.
The word "honey" sent shockwaves through Ethan's face as it drained of color.
The self-proclaimed justice-seeking streamers stood there dumbfounded.
"What... what just happened?"
"She... she called this ex-con 'honey'?"
"Isn't she Ethan's girlfriend?"
