Chapter 4

That night, Chris didn't come back all night.

The next day, he had a strange smell on him.

He told me at that time that he was accompanying a client and slept directly in the hotel.

At first, I believed it.

But when Sophia arrogantly joined Smith Group, took away the project in my hands, and challenged me.

I realized that the so-called client was Sophia.

After she returned, Chris arranged everything for her, including food, clothing, shelter, and transportation. he even arranged her to work in our company.

I had always known that Sophia was the one in his heart.

During my college years, I witnessed how many times he lost his mind for Sophia.

But I deceived myself that was only his past. At least, we were husband and wife at this point.

Sophia's appearance violently shattered all of this.

Chris said they were just friends, but they crossed the line beyond friendship.

We had countless arguments, but we made up after I lowered my head first.

When my grandmother got sick, I panicked, and Chris turned around to comfort me.

"Anita, don't be afraid. I'm here with you. Let's hope the best for your grandma."

I believed what he said.

But he broke his promise once again.

Ten years from the age of 15 to 25,

18 missed calls from 11 p.m. to dawn.

I gave up.

"Chris, I won't be selfish to hold onto you anymore. From now on, we're just strangers."

I picked up the divorce agreement and handed it to him along with the pen, my voice hoarse, "Sign it. We'll get divorced."

But Chris didn't answer.

He looked at me and pointed at my nose, "Anita, you know that your grandma is still sick, I can't divorce you. Stop acting."

Chris looked at me with disdain in his eyes. "Cut the crap. I'm going to the hospital to see Grandma."

After he finished speaking, he turned and left.

The door was closed from the outside, and I slowly squatted on the ground, from silent tears to loud sobs.

My grandmother...

She was already dead...

Chapter 5

I cried for a long time, and when my body was numb, I slowly stood up.

Chris left, and the house was terrifyingly quiet and empty.

I packed my luggage and looked at the decoration of the house. My eyes turned red again.

This house was gradually decorated by me, just like every step I loved Chris over the years.

But at this time, I didn't want this house anymore.

I didn't want Chris anymore.

I cried until I was numb, dragging my suitcase and went to the crematorium.

My grandmother was the only family I had in this world. I had to let her leave with dignity.

The staff helped me set up the memorial hall and asked me, "Miss, do you need to notify other relatives and friends?"

I looked dazed and hesitated a bit.

After Chris took over the company last year, his parents went abroad for recuperation. His father's poor health made it unfavorable for him to travel long distances.

But the death of my grandmother still needed to be informed.

I made up my mind and was about to call my parents-in-law when my phone lit up.

It was a call from Chris.

I bit my lip and answered the call.

"Anita, are you crazy? Just to take revenge on me, you actually changed the ward for your grandmother?"

He questioned without waiting for me to speak, and kept scolding me, "Do you even know that your grandmother's condition is too severe to move? Are you trying to kill her?"

I held the memorial tablet and felt my vision darken. I said angrily, "Chris, where were you when she wanted to see you?"

At this time, he acted as if he really cared, but he even didn't show up from beginning to end.

He made my grandmother unable to rest in peace last night!

Chris choked and frowned, "Even if you're mad at me, don't joke about your grandma's health. At this critical moment, I won't argue with you. Where is she? I'll go find her!"

I held the portrait tightly and bit my lip, trembling as I spoke, "Chris, I'm at the crematorium."
