Chapter 1

In order to overcome the experimental difficulties, I led the team to work overtime for 36 hours in a row and finally obtained the key data.

One second before the data was delivered, I received a call for help from my mother who had a heart attack.

Unexpectedly, I was reported by my fiancé's junior schoolmate the next day and was expelled from the laboratory.

Even though I repeatedly told me it was an emergency, my fiancé Silas Grant looked indifferent.

"The laboratory is never allowed to answer external calls. This is the rule."

"Now that the data has been leaked, please sign the compensation form."

I was forced to leave the lab, but Silas had a candlelit dinner at La Mer with his junior schoolmate.

Looking at the corner of the laboratory revealed in the photo, I called the senior who had a conflict with Silas.

"I can join your laboratory and help you win the gold medal at this year's academic exchange conference."

"Request? Can your lab answer calls for help from loved ones?"

……

"Elara, I haven't seen you for so many years, and you're still as funny as ever."

"As long as you can come to my lab, let alone answer a call from a loved one, even if your dog is in trouble, I will drive it there myself!"

Xavier Sterling's voice on the other end of the phone was humorous, but I couldn't laugh at all.

"Then come pick me up, and I promise I can get it done tonight."

Ten minutes later, Xavier's car arrived on time.

I also quickly got into work mode after entering the laboratory.

Two hours later, a new data was sent to Xavier's mailbox.

Xavier's eyes were bigger than a cow's.

"No, Elara Vance, are you serious?"

"Before, I spent a lot of money to hire you to come to my laboratory as a consultant, but you refused. You said that Silas hated me the most and as his girlfriend, you had to avoid suspicion."

"Besides, didn't you register your marriage a long time ago? If you use my experimental results to spice up your relationship, I will break up with you."

Flavoring?

This is what I thought when I received the expulsion notice from the lab this morning.

Thought this was a surprise from Silas for our upcoming 7th anniversary.

But when I rushed to the laboratory, I found that all my personal belongings had been thrown into the trash can.

Facing my questioning, Silas's face was even colder than mine.

"During the experiment, you are prohibited from answering outside calls. Don't you know?"

Even though I repeatedly explained that the experiment was over and that the call I received was from a mother who had a heart attack, Silas just sneered.

"You're doing this again? Your mother just had coronary bypass surgery last month, how could she have a heart attack!"

"And the data has been leaked, how do you explain it?"

"Since you are my fiancée, I will not sue you. Just sign the compensation form and leave."

I stared at the compensation bill for $5 million without saying a word.

Zara Quinn, however, bounded into the lab.

She had her manicure done, wore perfume, and even put on some elaborate makeup.

Compared with me, who was unkempt and had been working in the experiment for 36 hours straight just to keep an eye on the data, it was like the difference between a princess and a beggar.

But she pinched her nose exaggeratedly.

"Elara, you haven't showered in a few days? You smell so bad."

"I know you don't like cleanliness, but this is a laboratory. If the experimental data is distorted due to personal hygiene problems, the loss will be huge."

I was angry, so I spoke rudely.

"You know this is a laboratory, but you don't even understand something as basic as calling your position during work?"

"Also, you were there when I answered the phone that day. You should know that I only transferred the call to 911 and did not leak any data at all."

Chapter 2

Zara's eyes turned red and she started to apologize while crying.

"I'm sorry Elara, I know it would be embarrassing if you were caught leaking the experimental data, but you can't force me to lie."

"This data is the result of everyone's hard work. I really can't bear to see everyone's efforts go to waste because of your selfishness!"

Silas also protected her behind him and spoke.

"That's enough Elara! Aren't you just jealous that Zara, a newcomer, can lead a team to produce results in the lab, but you can't?"

"Zara is the person in charge of this project now. As for a parasite like you, why don't you get out of here?"

Am I a borer?

The laboratory has been established for four years. How many awards have I won based on my research results?

Even Silas' Young Innovator Award was half my achievement.

On the other hand, Zara has been in the laboratory for only three months, but has already caused more than ten troubles, big and small.

Even the rule against answering the phone during the experiment was added because she left her post to pick up takeout during the experiment.

But Zara was pulling Silas' arm and acting like a spoiled child, asking him to agree to hold a birthday party for her in the lab that night.

I suddenly remembered that Silas and I had planned to register our marriage on Valentine's Day, but after he received a call from Zara saying that she had a fever, he threw me on the side of the road without hesitation.

Love and not love have always been obvious.

Seeing that I hadn't spoken for a long time, Xavier was also surprised and spoke tentatively.

"Really? Then please consider me. You know, my mother likes you the most. She doesn't like any of the daughters-in-law I brought home over the years. If this continues, I will be single."

I rolled my eyes at him and signed my name on his Elara Laboratory invitation list.

"Shao Pin, I'm in a bad mood, go out with me for a drink."

Xavier took me to a bar.

But before I even entered the door, I heard the crowd booing.

"Give me a kiss! Give me a kiss!"

I looked in the direction of the crowd and saw a man and a woman surrounded by a group of people, kissing each other passionately.

The man's back looks very much like Silas.

I was stunned for a moment, and subconsciously dialed Silas's number.

The next second, the man frantically reached for his phone.

Then my screen lit up.

It was a text message from Silas.

"I'm doing an experiment. I'll tell you later."

The bar host's voice also sounded simultaneously.

"Congratulations to this couple for winning our fancy kissing contest tonight! The prize is a Hilton presidential suite card. Have a nice night!"

Zara jumped into Silas' arms happily, and Silas held her and spun around several times before taking the room card and leaving in a hurry.

The two were so excited that they didn't even notice me when they passed by me.

I watched them get into the same car, and Xavier next to me spoke with a worried look on his face.

"Elara, are you okay?"

"It's okay, but I'm afraid I can't drink tonight. I'll treat you another day."

I chased after him, flagged down a car and followed behind Silas's car.

I watched them walk into the hotel hand in hand and stay in the presidential suite on the top floor.

That night, the lights in the hotel room were on all night.

I also sat downstairs all night.

It was not until the next morning that I dialed the lawyer's number with a hoarse voice.

"Can you please tow away the car I drove for Silas before?"

"And all the supplementary cards I opened for Silas are frozen."

After doing all this, I returned home.

Took a hot shower, then turned off the phone and went to sleep.

I was woken up by Silas banging on the door.

Chapter 3

When he opened the door, Silas looked furious.

"Elara! Are you sick? Why did you drive my car away for no reason? And you also stopped my card. Do you know that Zara and I were together this morning..."

"What happened with Zara?" I asked, following up on his words.

Silas realized that he had let the cat out of the bag and immediately changed his words.

"I know you're upset about being kicked out of the lab, but this is your fault."

"If you return the car now and pay Zara two million dollars as compensation, I will not bother with you about this matter."

I almost laughed out loud.

I asked Silas.

"Where were you last night?"

There was an obvious guilty look in Silas' eyes, but he still spoke stubbornly.

"It's in the lab. Didn't I tell you?"

But I took out the photo of him and Zara kissing passionately in the bar last night and shoved it in his face.

"Can experiments now be done in bars? Didn't have enough fun in the first half, so we moved to the Hilton Hotel for the second half?"

I was telling the truth, but Silas got so angry that he grabbed my phone and threw it to the ground.

"Elara, are you sick?

"You spend the whole day in the lab, looking unkempt and unfeminine. Why are you making a scene when I'm just having a couple of drinks with Zara?"

"If you continue like this, our engagement will have to be cancelled!"

"Then cancel it." I pressed my brow tiredly, but Silas's expression changed instantly after receiving a phone call.

He held my hand and said pleadingly.

"Elara, come with me to the hospital right now!"

But I shook his hand off.

"I'm not sick, why should I go to the hospital?"

"Also, you'd better pay me back as soon as possible for all the money you've spent on me over the years. I don't want to see you in court."

A dark meaning flashed in Silas' eyes, and the next second he spoke while wiping away his tears.

"It's Auntie! Auntie's doctor just called me and said she's dying!"

"Elara, I know you are angry with me, don't you even care about your own mother?"

Something happened to my mom?

Without caring about Silas, I drove to the hospital quickly.

He didn't even care when Silas shamelessly sat on it.

But when I rushed to the hospital and entered the ward Silas told me about, I found that the person lying on the bed was not my mother, but Zara.

When Zara saw Silas, her tears suddenly fell, and she threw herself into his arms and cried.

"Silas, where have you been?"

"I heard from the doctor that there are reporters everywhere. What if they find out that you and I were sent to the emergency room this morning? How can I face people in the future?"

Silas patted her back soothingly.

"It's okay. I've already arranged it. You can get up now and leave quietly through the back door."

"Elara, what are you still standing there for? Come over here and lie down!"

I didn't say anything because I glanced at Zara's medical records.

There are many foreign objects in the lower body that cannot be removed.

She and Silas really have all sorts of tricks up their sleeves.

Taking a deep breath, I rejected Silas' request.

"You didn't think of me when you were having fun, but you remember me now?"

"I'm sorry, but I won't be your scapegoat."

Silas held my hand.

"Elara, Zara is a girl who just graduated. She has never experienced this kind of thing. If it is really exposed, her life will be ruined!"

"You've been with me for so many years, it doesn't matter whether you are famous or not."

"At worst, once this matter is over, I'll register for marriage with you right away. Is that okay?"

After the failure of the marriage registration last time, I thought countless times about the scene where Silas would bring up this matter with me again.
