1 The day She died
Tamara's POV
On the day I died, my husband was too busy having sex with my sister to care.
The world around me had blurred as the poison my husband fed me coursed through my veins.
“Please… someone… help me,” I begged, but my voice was too weak.
I painfully dragged myself across the cold floor, desperately trying to reach my guards who were standing just outside the door.
“Please …h-help.” I cried louder but they did nothing, even though they clearly heard me. They were choosing to leave me, their Luna to die on my cold bedroom floor.
Above the sound of my cries, I could still hear the sound of my bed creaking as my husband continued to fuck my sister on my bed just a few feet from me.
“Yes! Fuck me Jack, claim me so your wife can see. Yes! Harder Jack!” My sister Kate moaned as my husband continued to pound her into the bed.
I tried to turn my head away but the movement felt agonizing, so I was forced to watch Jack’s hips furiously thrusting into Kate. Jack was groaning as he began to thrust faster, burying his cock into her again and again.
Soon, he shot his cum inside her with a shout before collapsing against her. They began laughing with joy, not giving a damn of the suffering they were causing me.
I didn’t want to see this, but I couldn’t look away. I still couldn’t believe that they had poisoned me and proceeded to have sex over my dying body.
Sobs wracked my body as I watched my husband sit up and begin to put on his clothes with a satisfied smile.
He turned to caress Kate, “You were delicious as always baby girl, but I have to go and make sure the grave is ready for Tamara’s body,” he said casually, as if discussing the weather.
Like he wasn’t talking about digging a grave for the wife he had just poisoned.
I watched as he leaned down and kissed Kate passionately. And the sight sent a dagger through my already broken heart. But when he looked at me, his eyes were filled with so much hate and disgust.
His expression was so sinister and hateful, it was nothing like the love that used to shine in his eyes when he looked at me in the past.
My husband, Alpha Jack, had been the love of my life for the past three years. We had met by chance and Jack had immediately swept me off my feet.
Jack was a lonely Alpha with a small pack, and I was the only child of a wealthy Alpha, and also the future Luna of the second largest pack in the region called the Winter pack. Most people in my position would have been too proud to marry a man with a pack as small as Jack’s, but I didn’t care. I loved him wholly and completely, no matter what anybody said.
I gave him everything I had, and did anything he asked. But that had been my downfall. Because in the end, he fed me a cup of poisoned tea and fucked another woman while I lay dying on the floor.
Jack suddenly stepped closer and stood over my body. I raised my hands to him, hoping by some miracle that he would help, but instead, he suddenly kicked me in the stomach, causing me to scream in pain.
“You’re so fucking disgusting Tamara.” He spat at me. “I can’t believe I was married to you for the last two years of my life. Every night I would go to sleep wishing Kate was the one in my bed instead. Do you know how frustrating it was for us to sneak behind your back just to have sex for all these years?” He sneered and more tears came rushing down my face.
Why was he saying this to me?
“J-Jack, please don’t do this.” I begged. “I’m your wife Jack, I have loved you for two whole years. I have given you everything you ever asked. Why are you doing this to me?” I cried but Jack only laughed.
“Why? You really don't know? After all your family did to me, you really don't know?" He then scoffed. "I guess you are dumber than I thought then." He chuckled but I stared at him in confusion, not knowing what he was talking about.
Jack continued. "And yes, I know you love me Tamara and that’s why it was so easy to control you and to steal everything from you. I only married you for your pack’s wealth and power, but it’s all mine now. I’m going to be crowned as the alpha of your pack in two days so you're useless to me now.” He said and I sobbed even harder.
So everything had been a lie. My husband had cheated, deceived and betrayed me because I had foolishly let myself love him. If I could go back in time, I would have done everything differently, I would have made them pay.
I cried harder, but Jack was unfazed as he turned to leave. He didn’t even glance back as he left the room, leaving me to die at the feet of his mistress.
My step sister Kate burst into laughter as she got up from the bed and sauntered over to me in her sheer nightgown.
“Oh poor Tamara. Do you still feel so high and mighty now, dear Luna?” she sneered, squatting down to laugh at me.
“Why?” I sobbed. “Why would you do this to me? We are family.”
Kate's smile twisted into a sneer. “No, Tamara. You were the Luna and I was just a lowly subject that nobody ever cared about. Everything and everyone revolved around you, but what did I have? Nothing!”
The pain in my chest had become unbearable now. “Please, Kate, please don’t do this. I’m pregnant Kate. Please don’t do this to my baby.”
Kate’s eyes glittered with malice. “Oh I know you’re pregnant, but thankfully Jack doesn't know that yet,” she spat coldly. “That’s why I made him give you the poisoned tea today before you got the opportunity to tell him. I really can’t afford to let you give birth to an heir who would take over the throne from us.” She sneered.
I felt rage boil up within me. She was intentionally killing me because I was pregnant?
2 Reborn
Tamara’s POV
I tried to scream for help again, but Kate snarled at me. “Stop it Tamara. No one is coming to save you. I already killed all your friends, and your parents are dead too. And thanks to me, the whole pack believes you’re a killer so everyone hates you now.” Kate laughed.
I was devastated to realize that she was right. I had no one left. Since the day she moved into our house two years ago, she had managed to successfully turn everyone against me. Everyone who tried to help me was executed for treason.
I was all alone.
My heart broke even more. “You won’t get away with this Kate! I swear you won’t!” I choked out.
Kate laughed, a loud chilling sound. “Oh darling, but I already have. I got away with it since that day you first let me step foot into this house, years ago. Your fate was sealed that day." She said and I cried harder.
Kate suddenly pulled out a long dagger and aimed it at my chest. “Sorry sister, but it’s time for you to go now, Goodbye, Tamara,” she said with a smirk before plunging the knife in my chest.
The explosion of pain as the knife pierced through my chest was indescribable.
Darkness suddenly closed in and everything turned pitch black.
But then, in the midst of the darkness, a bright light appeared out of nowhere. And a beautiful female voice echoed in the void. “Your time is not over yet, Tamara. You have a mission to complete. You will can be reborn with 3 special gifts if you're willing to make 3 sacrifices in return. Do you accept this offer?"
I didn't hesitate, I was willing to pay anything. "Yes, I do." I replied.
My eyes suddenly snapped open, and I gasped awake.
My hand instinctively went to my chest, where the stab wound had been. But as I touched my skin, I felt nothing but smooth, unbroken flesh. Panic turned to confusion. No stab wounds? no pain? What was going on?
I sat up and looked around. Yes, this was my living room, my home. But yet, everything looked different.
The house and furniture looked like exactly how I designed them years ago, before Kate came and redecorated everything to fit her taste and erase me.
But how was that possible? She had burnt all my stuff years ago so how were they all here now?
My eyes landed on my phone on the bedside table. It was an older model but I reached for it and quickly unlocked it. The screen lit up in a second, and I froze.
The date read February 3rd, 2024.
Two years before I died. Two years before my husband and my step sister teamed up to kill me and a few weeks before I even married Jack.
Memories of after I died immediately flooded back with a rush. After I blacked out, I had seen the moon goddess, and she had sent me back to the past, to this exact date.
The day Kate moved into my house and everything in my life started to fall apart. I couldn’t remember everything the goddess said but I knew I was supposed to change everything.
I was supposed to stop Jack and Kate from killing everyone and everything I loved. I was back to undo all the wrong things I had done. I was supposed to make them pay.
Right on cue, I heard a commotion downstairs. I rushed to the landing just as the front door burst open. My husband, Jack — who was just my fiancée at this time stumbled in, half-carrying a weak-looking Kate.
“Tamara!" he called, his voice strained. "We need your help! Kate's home was attacked by rogues. She’s badly injured and needs a place to stay and recover, can she live with us?” He asked, already expecting me to say yes.
I stared at him in shock. This was exactly how it had happened before. Kate was my father's daughter with his former mistress Miss Linda who lived luxuriously at the far north of the pack.
My father had been forced to be with Miss Linda for political reasons, and after she manipulated him into having a Child with her, my father took responsibility of his second daughter Kate and tried to raise us as sisters, but her mother grew jealous of my mother so she insisted on moving she and Kate to a luxurious mansion away from us.
But now as adults, Kate had come into my house, pretending to be a victim, and when they asked me if she could stay, I said yes.
And then she came and destroyed everything. She had my friends killed, turned everyone against me, and ultimately killed me.
But this time, things would be different. I wouldn't let the past repeat itself. The old, timid, sweet Tamara was dead.
This new Tamara was ice cold, she was ready, and she was back for revenge.
I noticed that a crowd had gathered to watch us. The pack members had come to my house for a meeting today and now they were here to witness this moment.
They were all waiting to see what I would do, because they all knew Jack was secretly cheating on me with Kate, but no one could say anything because I was too in love with Jack to listen at that time. Now they were all waiting to see if I was dumb enough to be fooled by Jack and Kate’s act.
I looked at Jack. "No," I finally said to them, instantly shocking everyone.
Jack looked flabbergasted at my answer, he had never imagined that I could ever say no to him. "Tamara, but Kate is your sister, how could you refuse to help her?”
"We will do our best to take care of her of course," I insisted, "but Kate will not live with us. We will get her a house and nurses who can take care of her—“
Kate immediately fell on her knees and bursted into tears. "No, please sister. I'm too scared to live alone or with anyone I don't trust, please, just let me stay with you till I’m better," she sobbed.
I knew Kate was faking the tears, but I couldn't help being impressed by how good her acting was. No wonder she fooled everyone. But she could never fool me again.
"She will not live with us," I repeated firmly, feeling the eyes of the crowd on me.
I heard the people murmuring around me, in confusion and surprise. The former me had always been so timid, so accepting of everything Jack said. So my new attitude was a shock to everyone.
It felt so good to see the utter shock on James's and Kate's faces, but I couldn't let them know i knew their plans yet.
I forced a smile and used the sweetest voice I could muster. "Jack honey, I haven't been feeling well lately, and I really need my space to plan for our wedding. Please put my feelings first. Remember that I'm your fiancée."I said, innocently.
Jack seemed to consider my words, and his expression softened. A flicker of hope instantly sparked in me that maybe, just maybe, I could win over Kate this time.
Maybe I could end her plan before it even began.
But then Jack's face suddenly hardened into a frown and I realized with a sinking heart that Kate was talking to him through their mind link, manipulating him against me once again.
“No Tamara," Jack snapped, "I am the man of this house and your Alpha, I have decided that Kate will stay with us and that is final!”
My heart clenched painfully. Nothing had changed. Kate would still move in, take over everything, and ruin my life all over again. I had changed nothing in this new life.
I noticed Kate bowing her head as if she were crying, but then I saw it: she was smiling. She knew she had won!
Surprising Apology
Tamara's POV
I stood there, horrified and heartbroken but I refused to give up.
"But this is my house Jack! I’m the Luna of the winter pack so I get to say who—“
“You don’t get to say anything alone Luna! Have you forgotten that we merged our packs when I claimed you?” Jack interrupted. "I have an equal say in everything. Stop being selfish and think of others for once. Kate will stay with us and that’s final." He declared in a firm unyielding Alpha tone.
I felt my blood boil as I watched Jack scoop Kate up in his arms and carry her to one of the bedrooms upstairs.
She still had that smug smile on her face. That bitch!
Kate had won this round, and unless I did something drastic, she would continue to win. But what could I do?
The logical thing would be to break up with him now so we don’t get married and he doesn’t kill me in the future right?
But there was one problem. Our packs had already merged to become one, and as my pack had grown, Jack’s pack had grown in number and power too.
If I broke up with him, he would probably turn around and send his pack to attack my people with our own resources, and that would be a blood bath.
If I was going to break up with Jack, I had to make sure that my pack would be protected by something or someone strong enough to scare away any retaliation from Jack. But how was I supposed to find that kind of protection? Jack was scared of nobody.
I felt so choked up with emotion that it was overwhelming. I needed some space to breathe.
I left the house, stripped off my clothes and shifted into my wolf form as I ran into the woods, the cool evening air was amazing against my skin.
It felt amazing to be alive!
I felt my wolf Maya rise to the surface to speak to me. “Our parents are alive too! In this time line, our friends and loved ones are all still alive! Tamara, we have to keep them safe this time!” She urged and I agreed.
It seemed that the war and attacks that killed our parents and killed almost half of my pack hadn’t started happening yet.
According to the past timeline, in Just four months from now, Our worst enemy, the ruthless Alpha Dante would send his men to start spying on us. Then he would launch a surprise attack and kill my parents who had retired to Switzerland.
In the past, Alpha Dante had claimed that he was attacking us because my pack members had stolen from him, but we never did such a thing, we were being framed.
After that, a war broke out between us and Alpha Dante wiped out more than half of my pack members.
In the past, Kate used that opportunity to convince my people that everything was my fault. The people blamed me for the death of their loved ones, and turned their backs on me, choosing to support Kate instead.
All this would happen in just four months from now. Which meant that I only had about four months to save my self, my parents and my pack from certain death.
I ran deeper into the forest, trying to clear my thoughts but I soon got tired and decided to head home.
I was sweaty from the run, so I decided to take a shower, but just as I began to strip off my clothes, Jack walked in with an apologetic look on his face. He was also holding a bouquet of flowers and a box of chocolates.
I quickly pulled my top down, hiding my nakedness from him.
Jack quirked his brow at me. "Why are you hiding your breasts from me? It's not like I haven't seen before." He said and I felt like punching him. He had lost the rights to my body the day I realized he was a traitor.
“What do you want Jack?” I snapped, failing to hide my irritation from him.
Jack looked so shocked at my tone that he froze. “What’s got into you Tamara? You’ve never spoken to me like this before, did I do something wrong?” He asked and I wanted to laugh.
The only thing he did wrong was lie to me, cheat on me, betray me, and then kill me and my unborn child, but he couldn’t discover that I knew these things, so I faked another smile and sighed.
“I’m sorry darling, preparing for the wedding is making me a little tired lately.” I apologized and Jack smiled at me.
"It’s alright Tamara," he began,"I'm also very sorry for yelling at you earlier and arguing with you. I shouldn't have disrespected you in front of everyone. I swear it will never happen again. Please forgive me." He said.
I blinked at him in surprise. The Jack from my past never bought me flowers, and he never apologized so profusely. What was going on?
Secret plans
Tamara's pov
Jack continued speaking, "I promise you sweetheart, Kate will only stay with us until she is healed, and after that, I will personally make sure she leaves."
I felt a surge of annoyance. This was an old lie he had told me in the past. He had sworn up and down that he would kick Kate out, but he never did. Instead, he laid back and watched as Kate took everything from me.
And that same thing would happen again if I didn’t find a way to stop them both now.
But I couldn't let him see my anger. So I forced another smile and pretended to accept his apology. "Thank you, Jack. I appreciate your concern."
Jack moved closer, and caressed my face. “Anything for you my love. You know I would do anything it takes to make you happy. I love you so much Tammie.” He said and I tried very hard not to gag.
How could he lie so boldly like that, especially while he was planning to kill me?
Jack bent to kiss me, but I turned my face away. "Darling, not tonight, I'm tired," I said, keeping my voice steady.
Jack frowned for a moment but recovered quickly. "Of course my love. Let me bring you some milk before you go to bed," he offered,. "It would help you rest."
Before I could refuse, he left the room, and returned with a glass of milk a few seconds later.
I reluctantly accepted it, but instantly noticed how he lingered around, anxiously waiting for me to drink it.
Why was he doing that? what was in the milk?
My mind immediately flashed back to how he had poisoned me with tea, and I became even more hesitant to drink the milk. But I didn’t want him to know something was off, so I pretended to take a sip.
“Thank you Jack, it’s so good," I said, pretending to enjoy it.
Jack smiled widely, and helped me get into bed.
I suddenly remembered that in our past life, Jack always brought me milk before bed every single day.
I had always thought he did it out of love, but now that I knew how much he hated me, I had to find out why he was he so insistent on giving me milk before bed.
I feigned another sip, and pretended to get something from my closet, but I quickly threw the milk in an empty shoe box, then hurried back to bed like I had finished the milk.
Jack kissed me goodnight and I lay down, pretending to fall asleep.
After a while, I heard him softly calling my name. I kept my eyes shut and remained still.
Soon, I felt him waving a hand in front of my face, testing to see if I was really asleep. When I didn't react, he sighed softly and left the room.
I waited a few moments and then slipped out of bed to follow after him. I heard him enter the room next to ours—it was Kate's room.
‘Of course,’ I thought and pressed my ear to her door, to catch what they were saying.
"Did you give her the milk with the sleeping pills?" Kate's voice asked in an irritated tone.
"Yes, she’s sound asleep so we can fuck as loud as we want," Jack replied, "But I'm worried you might have given too much." He asked in a surprisingly concerned tone.
"Oh, don't be ridiculous," Kate snapped. "Why are you so worried about that bitch? I thought you hated her? And you don’t have to worry, I didn't use enough to kill her yet. I still have some delicious plans for our Tamara first." She laughed and Jack joined her.
“Now fuck me Jack,” Kate moaned, “I’ve been thinking about you all day, I almost couldn’t wait for that bitch to fall asleep.” She cooed and they proceeded to have sex loud enough for the whole house to hear.
My blood ran cold and tears filled my eyes as I slipped back into my room. So this had been going on for years and I didn’t know. They were drugging me, controlling me and making fun of me behind my back, thinking I would never find out.
Well too bad for them, I was prepared this time. They would not get away with this. I would find a way to stop them. And I would make them pay for everything they had done to me.
But first, I had to had to find someone powerful enough to protect my pack from Jack when I broke up with him. But who would that be?
My mind came up with only one answer and my mood turned sour.
Alpha Dante. Alpha Dante, was the only name I could think of. He was the most powerful Alpha in the region, powerful enough to protect me from any attack Jack could bring.
But he was also the same person who would kill my parents in the future, he was famous for being greedy, heartless and cruel, so how could I trust or even ask him for help?
Maya my wolf spoke up. “But Alpha Dante hasn’t killed them yet in this timeline. So if we can convince him to not attack us, then we can save our parents and every one else. Then we can also use him to frighten Jack off.” Maya said and I felt like shouting in joy.
Maya was brilliant as always. She had found a solution. If we could convince Alpha Dante to form a partnership with us, we could build a relationship and find a way to stop him from killing our parents.
It was brilliant! Now I just had to talk to Alpha Dante and convince him to stop hating me.
Alpha Dante
Tamara's POV
The next morning, I woke up to find Jack sleeping in my bed like he never left.
He was cuddling my waist and I could feel his erection pressing against me.
I frowned in disgust, he was probably dreaming about how he fucked my sister.
I quietly slipped out to not wake him, but when I opened my door, I found Kate kneeling in front of my door.
"Kate? What are you doing?" I asked in surprise.
Kate scrambled up to her feet quickly and bowed to me. "Oh Luna! I'm sorry if I surprised you." She stammered with fake innocence. "I was just polishing the floor for you. I want to thank you for letting me stay here, and in return, please let me be your maid, I'll work very hard and do anything you want and I promise to never annoy you. Please accept me as your humble servant." She bowed.
I was confused about her actions for a second but then I looked up and saw that my servants were peeping at us and whispering. That's when I realized that Kate was doing all these to look like a good girl and make me look like the harsh Luna that forced her poor sister to be her servant.
Right on cue, Jack appeared behind me and frowned. "Tamara? why are you forcing your own sister to mop the floor? why are you being so harsh to her?" he yelled loudly.
The maids started to murmur loudly and I realized that they were falling for this fake act, so I decided it was time to play my card.
I quickly grabbed Kate from the floor and pulled her into a tight hug, shocking everyone.
"Oh no sister, you can never be my maid." I said, "I love you too much to let you work so hard. From today, you are an official member of the Alpha's noble family and you will be treated as such. I will give you servants and a credit card with no limits, if you ever want anything at all, just ask Okay?" I said and smiled when I noticed the servants start to whisper about how kind and nice I was.
Kate and Jack were in shock at how easily I changed the situation, and Kate could only stammer out a thank you.
I just nodded and walked away, knowing I had to act fast to protect my pack from these vipers.
Later that day, I used my connections to get the number to reach Alpha Dante.
Then I went to a secluded part in our garden, gathered my courage and dialed the number of my former enemy.
The phone rang a few times before a sultry feminine voice answered.
"This is king Dante's office, who is this and how can I help you?"
I took a deep breath. “This is Tamara Hawthorn," I said, "And I would please like to speak with Alpha Dante."
There was a pause as the person on the other end recognized who I was.
"Tamara Hawthorn, Luna of the Winter Pack and future wife of Alpha Jack?" the woman asked, her tone becoming colder with each word.
"Yes," I confirmed, feeling more tense than before.
The voice suddenly turned icy cold. "The King is not available at the moment."
I was taken aback by the sudden change in attitude. "Are you sure? I really need to speak with him." I pressed.
"The King doesn't talk to the likes of you," she replied icily.
I was shocked by her rudeness. Who was this bitch and why was she so rude when I didn’t even know her?
Before I could respond, I heard a deep velvety voice in the background.
"Who is on the phone?" the masculine voice asked.
"It's nobody," the rude woman on the phone lied.
"That's a lie!" I shouted, with desperation creeping into my voice. I had to talk to Alpha Dante! It was the only way we could survive.
There was a moment of tense silence, then the deep voice commanded, "Hand over the phone Lucy, and go put on your clothes." The voice said and my eyes widened, was she naked in his office?
I heard the woman curse and grumble, but she reluctantly passed the phone to him.
"You are speaking to Alpha Dante. Who are you?" the deep voice rumbled through the receiver.
I suddenly felt every nerve in my body become alert at the sound of his voice. It was so deep, velvety and dark. It was the kind of voice that could have me sinning for days.
I immediately shook my head and tried to remind myself that this was the voice of the man who had killed my family in my past life.
The last time I saw him, we were at war on a battle field. I clearly remembered the iciness in his voice and the hate in his eyes, it was like he wanted to cross the field and kill me himself, so I definitely never found anything attractive about him in my past life.
Alpha Dante was probably in his early thirties, while I just turned 23 this year, but he had always looked down on me, like I was still an immature child. We might not have started attacking each other’s packs yet, but from his cold attitude and our pack's past history, i always knew he hated me, and I hated him too. But I needed his help now.
"Alpha Dante," I began, keeping my voice bold. "This is Tamara, Luna of the Winter Pack. I need to speak with you about something urgent."
There was a long pause. "Tamara," he said, his voice now dripping with disdain. "The proud little brat of the Winter pack, Why should I listen to anything you have to say?"
I forced myself to ignore his insult and continue. "Because I have a proposition that would benefit us both. I want us to form a mutually beneficial alliance. If you and your warriors offer my pack protection when we need it, we will provide to you any of our precious and most valuable raw materials you need. How is that?” I asked, feeling sure that he would jump at the offer because every other pack in the region envied us for our precious natural resources. Only a fool would turn our offer down.
“Is this a fucking joke?” Alpha Dante snapped, and I jumped.
“What? No!”
Alpha Dante’s voice became dangerously low. “So after you sent your men to attack my pack, and steal from me, you turn around to ask me to protect you? Have you lost your senses girl, or are you trying to provoke me to war?”
Fuck!
I felt panic flair up in my chest. Someone had attacked his pack already?! But that wasn’t supposed to happen until the next four months!
Everything was speeding up. It was all happening too soon, and Alpha Dante was already talking about launching the very war I was trying to prevent.
I took a deep breath, and forced myself to calm down. "Alpha Dante, I need you to believe me when I say that we never attacked you. Someone is trying to set us up, turn us against each other before we have a chance to team up. I want you to know that I am not your enemy. Someone is trying hard to make you believe my pack attacked yours and stole from you, but that is not true. We are honest people."
Alpha Dante snorted at that. "Honest my foot! I heard you're marrying that little boy, Alpha Jack right? Why don't you ask him for help instead?"
I sighed through my nose. I couldn’t tell him that my Fiancée Alpha Jack, who I was still engaged to, was the exact person we needed protection from. I would look like a joke and Alpha Dante would never take me seriously.
"He can't give me what I need," I just said, my voice firm. "Only you can."
There was a pause on the other end. "And what exactly do you need, lady Tamara?" His voice was deep and velvety again, I wanted to fall asleep and wake up to that voice.
I shook my head again.
"I need protection for my people. I need to form an alliance with you that can protect my people, and in return, we would give you what you need.”
Dante laughed, a dark, humorless sound. "And what do you think I need Tamara?"
The way he said my name was sinful.
"I don’t know, What do you want?" I asked, my heart pounding, hoping it was something we could afford to provide.
“I need a wife.” Alpha Dante said, and I froze.
“Excuse me?”
The beginning of revenge
Tamara’s POV
"Marry me." Alpha Dante declared and I froze.
"What?"
"You really want to form an alliance with me Luna?"
"Yes," I said, my voice was no longer confident.
"Then leave that immature brat and marry me."
My breath caught in my throat. "What? W-why?”
If I remembered correctly, this man was supposed to hate me, and I was supposed to hate him, so why was he asking me to marry him?
I was shocked. "Marry you? But—"
"Think about it, Tamara," he said, his tone now cold and calculating. "If you're truly willing to do anything to make me believe you want this alliance, then this is the price. Marry me, submit to me and we will form an alliance so strong that it would be legendary."
I was speechless. The man who had killed my family, the man I had once ordered to be executed, was now offering to be my husband.
My mind raced, Could I really do this? Could I marry the ruthless Alpha Dante to protect my pack, save my parents and friends and stop the people who had betrayed me?
Yes? no? maybe?
"What's it going to be, Tamara?" Dante's voice broke through my thoughts. "Do we have a deal, or are you wasting my time little girl?" He rumbled.
Before I could even respond, another voice jolted me out of my thoughts.
"Tamara?" I looked up to see Jack looking at me with a frown and my heart sped up in panic. How long had he been there?
“Who are you talking too?” Jack suddenly asked and I nearly dropped my phone when he began to walk towards me, his eyes sharp and suspicious.
My heart began to race as I fumbled to cut the call, before forcing a smile that I hoped looked more natural than it felt.
“Who were you talking to?” Jack asked again but I thought I could hear suspicion in his voice and in the way he was looking at me.
I swallowed hard, trying to maintain my cool. “Oh, just my mum,” I lied. “She wanted to catch up and talk about the wedding.”
Jack’s eyes lingered on me, like he wasn’t fully convinced and my heart began to race then, because what if he’d heard any part of my conversation with King Dante? What if he truly became suspicious of me? He would kill me immediately.
Shit! I couldn’t let him find out I knew any of his plans yet before I got a chance to start my revenge. I had to distract him.
Without thinking, I moved closer to him and pressed my lips softly to his. His lips were warm, but I didn’t feel any of the comfort his kisses used to give me.
Still, I forced myself to suck on his tongue in the way I knew he liked and he let out a needy groan.
When I was sure he was distracted enough, I pulled back and smiled up at him, batting my eyelashes suggestively.
“You look so good darling, what's the occasion?” I asked, letting my fingers trail over the formal warrior attire I now noticed he was wearing.
My kiss seemed to have worked more than I expected because he stammered to gather his thoughts. “Oh uh, there’s a little meeting with the pack’s warriors,” he said dismissively, as if it were no big deal. “Nothing you need to worry about.”
I blinked, stunned. "There is a meeting with My own warriors? Why didn’t you tell me?”
Jack sighed before pulling me into a hug as if I was a child he needed to comfort. “Tamara, such meetings are not a place for women. You wouldn’t even understand all our talks about war and strategies. Just stay here and focus on picking flowers and planning our wedding Ok? Let me handle the important things.” He said as if he was talking to a child.
I felt my temper flare up but I quickly restrained it and forced myself to smile up at him as if he was right. Like I hadn’t spent my whole life being trained to fight and lead my pack, only to be told by my back stabbing asshole of a fiancé that my role was to just pick flowers.
In my last life, Jack had done this to me over and over again. He had purposefully kept me away from every important meeting with my warriors, every gathering with my leaders, and every festival where the other Alphas of neighboring packs came together.
I later realized too late that he was doing this to make me look like a selfish, dumb, lazy girl who didn’t care about ruling the pack or give a damn about her own people. And unfortunately for me, they all believed it.
All my warriors, the other Alphas and my own people believed him and Kate over me.
I would never forget that final moment of my past life—when I was crying out for help to my guards as I lay dying on the floor, and even though they clearly heard me, they all chose to ignore me. Because by then, they didn't consider me as their loving Luna anymore. I was nothing to them.
But that would not happen again, not this time. This time, I would make it right, and I would show all of them the kind of Luna I could be. Starting now.
I forced a smile on my face and agreed with him. “You’re right sweetheart, I should focus on the wedding.”
Jack smiled down at me in approval, and I felt disgust in my throat. “That’s my baby girl.” He said. “So submissive, just like you should be. It’s what I love most about you.”
I found it very very hard not to just vomit then, but I managed to control myself. What he loved was how easy it was to control and kill the old me. But he had no idea that the old Tamara was long dead now.
“Don’t worry Tammie,” he continued. “I promise to take you to the annual harvest festival coming up soon. You can wear one of your pretty dresses and I’ll introduce you to the other alphas there. We’ll show them just how beautiful my wife is.” He said and my face lit up in a genuine smile.
'Oh yes! the harvest festival! The one place where all the surrounding Alphas would gather to celebrate. I absolutely needed to attend it if I was going to win over any Alpha's support to my side
In my past Life, Jack also took me to the festival, but then Kate came along, and Jack spent the whole night flaunting her off as the Luna while I was forced by shame to hide in the background.
But things would be different this time, I would go to the festival, and I would establish an alliance with the Alphas myself. Jack and Kate were not going to humiliate me this time.
With these thoughts in mind, I smiled and nodded like an obedient little doll, but the moment he walked out of the room, my smile dropped.
He had no idea what was coming to him, and I couldn’t wait to give him a piece of his own medicine.
It was time for step one of my plan.
Step one
Tamara’s POV
As soon as Jack was out of sight, I rushed to my room, and went straight to the closet.
It was time to begin the first phase of my plan.
I shoved aside the soft, delicate dresses Jack liked me to wear and reached for the boldest, most daring outfit I had. It was a leather warrior set, black and fierce, with intricate gold and silver designs that gleamed in the light. The material hugged my body in all the right places, showcasing both my curves but still making me look powerful.
It was a piece specifically made for a Luna. It commanded attention, and respect, so Jack hated it when I wore it.
He didn’t like the fact that whenever I wore it, every single pair of eyes always ignored him to focus on me.
It was perfect.
I turned to the mirror and started applying a little makeup. That was another thing Jack had never allowed me to do in my past life.
He used to say that he didn’t want me looking too good, because he was afraid that someone would realize how beautiful I was, and take me away from him. I used to think he was joking, but after our marriage, when he started locking me up at home, I soon realized he was very serious.
He was scared someone would steal me away before he could claim my pack completely, and that was the very same fear I would use against him.
For the final touch to my outfit, i picked up the Alpha’s chest pin my parents gave me before they retired.
It was designed as a golden Phoenix, it was meant to signify the transition from a child to the pack’s leader, and since a Phoenix was also the symbol of death and rebirth, I thought it was the perfect jewelry for me.
Suddenly a soft voice sounded behind me making me freeze. “Tamara?”
I spun around to see Violet, my best friend standing at the doorway. I stared at her, unable to believe my eyes. She was alive.
“Violet?” I whispered, shakily.
In my past life, I was forced to to watch as Jack and Katie cruelly beheaded her right in front of me, claiming that she had been plotting with King Dante to kill me. I hadn’t believed them of course, and I even fought to save her. But then, Violet’s own husband, Richard, had provided some evidence that proved she helped Dante to kill my parents and I was heartbroken.
Violet had crawled on her knees, begging, crying and telling me that Alpha Dante wasn’t our true enemy but I didn't understand her then.
I still tried to save her, but Jack cruelly killed her right in front of me. I was devastated.
Later, I found out that her so called husband Richard had fabricated everything, just so that he could inherit all her property and marry his younger mistress.
Richard was our Gamma and Jack's closest friend, so they planned everything together. They had successfully gotten rid of both of their wives and had replaced us with their mistresses.
But here was Violet now, my beautiful best friend standing in front of me. Alive and healthy.
I rushed forward to hug her tighter than I had ever held anyone in my life. “I’m so sorry,” I whispered to her. “I should have listened to you, I’m so, so sorry.” I cried and she was stunned .
Violet awkwardly patted my back, clearly confused about why I was acting like this. “Tamara? … are you okay? What’s going on?”
I pulled back to look at her innocent face and smiled. “I’m fine now that you’re here,” I said honestly, “And i promise I’ll protect you this time, Violet. I won’t let anything happen to you. Not this time.”
She frowned and placed her palm on my forehead to feel my temperature. “Are you sure you’re alright? Are you feeling feverish?” She asked and I shook my head with a laugh.
She frowned more. “Then what are you talking about?” She asked before suddenly noticing my warrior outfit. “And… why are you dressed like that?”
“I’m going to the warriors’ meeting,” I told her.
Violet’s face immediately tensed, and her eyes widened in alarm. “No, Tamara, no,” she suddenly whispered urgently, grabbing my hands. “You don’t have to go to that meeting. Please, you have to trust me. Stay out of this.”
Her sudden fear startled me. Why didn’t she want me to go? I knew that she was constantly trying to protect me, she was the only one who ever dared to tell me the truth about Jack and Kate, and that was probably why they had her killed. But what was the problem now? Why didn’t she want me to go to the meeting when it could help me save my pack?
“Violet, what’s wrong? What aren’t you telling me?” I asked, but she refused to say anything else, just insisting that I shouldn’t go to the meeting.
Whatever she was hiding, it only made me more determined to go to the meeting and find out.
I grabbed her wrist and began walking to the meeting. Violet tried to protest, but I didn’t give her the chance as I dragged her with me down the hallway, to the meeting room.
When we arrived at the meeting hall, I heard voices talking, so I pushed open the doors with force, and all eyes immediately turned to me, then the hall immediately fell deadly silent.
I felt Violet stiffen beside me, and my eyes followed her line of sight until it landed at the top of the table where Jack was sitting.
But that wasn’t what made her freeze, what made her freeze was the fact that Kate was sitting right beside him, on the Luna’s chair, right were I was supposed to be sitting.
I gritted my teeth as my blood began to boil. That fucking bitch!
So this was why Jack didn’t want me to come to the meeting. He was already trying to replace me with Kate. Already giving her my position as Luna, even though I was still alive.
He said this meeting wasn't a place for a woman, but that rule clearly didn't apply to my sister.
So he had been stopping from attending important meetings, just so he could parade his slut in my place? My fists clenched at my sides, How dare they?!
