Verena was about to tell her husband Colin she was pregnant when she saw him with a pregnant Sadie. At her mother-in-law's birthday banquet, she was humiliated and, framed by Sadie, had a huge fight with Colin. Devastated, she decided to end the marriage. Her brother Darren took her home, where she woke up to the news of a miscarriage. To help her recover, the Fowler family put her in charge of a business gala, where she faced the Fowlers and Sadie again. Sadie tried to humiliate Verena, but Verena fought back.
